With Pride and Passion we support people within the North East to create
opportunities to flourish whilst celebrating our unique talent, culture and
heritage around the world.
Our main gallery is based in Eldon Garden Shopping centre. Here we house 10
displays rooms and showcase the work of over 100 artist , all of whom live and
work in the North East. We are dedicated to supporting our community with a
commitment to not only working with local artists but also supporting local
businesses, everything we choose to do is to support and enrich our city and the
wider North East region.
As an independent business we believe that working together to showcase our
region is the best way for people to understand the true beauty of Newcastle
and our surrounding North East. Each of our artists uses the North East as their
main influencer, representing their interpretation of the area in their own unique
style.

North East Art Collective welcomes the opportunity to work with Melia at 5
your Newcastle hotel and as such have put together the following proposal
for your hotel bedrooms & communal areas.
Based on the artists that Scott Brown showed initial interest in and the details
provided by Joanne Greer we hope that you like what we are presenting here.
As your ethos is to celebrate the culture of the city we have used our
dedication to North East artists to provide you with a vibrant collection of
local art that we feel will truly enhance your guest experience while staying at
INNSiDE.

The artists we have selected showcase a variety of styles and are proven to be
loved by consumers within your target audience.
Rasa Zilinskaite
Rasa absolutely loves the North East, with its friendly people and its fascinating
industrial heritage. The subject matter of her paintings vary greatly. The natural
world and the city is a constant source of wonder, inspiration and delight. Fast,
energetic, urgent brush strokes enable Rasa to capture mood of a fleeing
moment.

Darren Mundy 7
Darren works from his home studio in Whitley Bay where he lives with his wife and 2 sons. He is a
self-taught artist and has developed his Hilltown brand from a small sketch in a book to paintings and
prints that are recognised and popular in the whole of the UK and beyond. Hilltown works are created
in a popular and commercial style that have charm and a hint of humour. Darren’s ultimate aim is to
make you smile – he usually succeeds.
Robert Myers
Robert Myers is a North East based artist with a history in computer graphic visualisation. He has over
20 years of experience, growing up with a developing industry. Robert loves working in oil and trying
to capture the world around him. Robert’s City paintings have provided him with so much joy and
inspiration and allowed him to see the world in a different way.
Peter Davidson
Peter’s work is inspired by the nostalgia of his childhood. Using his own memories Peter creates
several different collections of work reflecting different times and events in life that nearly all can
relate to.

she absolutely loves the area,
with its friendly people and its
fascinating industrial heritage.
The subject matter of her
paintings vary greatly. The

23/11/2020
Darren works from his home studio
in Whitley Bay where he lives with his
wife and 2 sons. He is a self-taught
artist and has developed his Hilltown
brand from a small sketch in a book
to paintings and prints that are
recognised and popular in the whole
of the UK and beyond. He is creating
avid collectors of his work and is
selling his paintings to international
clients. Darren works in acrylics and
uses a vivid colour palette to achieve
maximum impact, with a strong
contrast of light and dark colours.
This has become one of the main
trademarks of his art. You could be
mistaken for thinking that Hilltown is
just little houses on large hills.
However, each Hilltown has its own
story to tell. Hilltown works are
created in a popular and commercial
style that have charm and a hint of
humour. Darren’s ultimate aim is to
make you smile – he usually
succeeds.

Robert Myers 12
23/11/2020
23/11/2020 Robert Myers is a North East 13
based artist with a history in
computer graphic visualisation. He
has over 20 years of experience,
growing up with a developing
industry. As his role was leading to
less creative work and more
managerial duties Robert began to
grow tired and uninspired. This
spurred him to start painting
which is something he had always
craved to do but with young
children and work commitments
never had the time. In October
2018 Robert was given an
opportunity to leave this industry
and grabbed it with open arms.
Robert has only one goal in mind
and that is to paint. He loves
working in oil and trying to
capture the world around him.
Roberts City paintings have
provided him with so much joy
and inspiration and allowed him to
see the world in a different way.
Peter Davidson
23/11/2020 14
Peter is a self taught artist born in the
mining town of Ashington in 1968. He
moved to the village of Ellington aged
9 and stayed there until a recent
move to Newcastle. Peter's love of
art goes all the way back to his
childhood and a pencil was never far
from his side growing up, more
recently peter has been able to turn
his love of art into an occupation with
his work now being sold all over the
country in many well established
galleries. Peter started out working in
pencil and explored all the mediums
as he progressed until settling on the
oil paintings he currently produces.
'My work is inspired by the things we
did and saw whilst playing out in the
back lanes and streets as kids, heavy
with nostalgia, a little bit of fun and
hopefully seeing the beauty in the
everyday things that surrounded me.
My work takes me back to a much
simpler and innocent time.'

Christine O’Donnell
23/11/2020 18
Christine's love for art began
to flourish when she was a
child; as she was able to
express her inner creativity
through art with the
encouragement of her family,
including her late Uncle John,
an artist who inspired
Christine to think
independently and led her to
excel in her own talents. Her
first exhibition was at a
museum in Ocean road, South
Shields. The feedback Christine
received from the art critics
was exemplary and filled her
with confidence in pursuing a
career. This inspired Christine
to study art at college in where
she specialised in acrylics.
Following a short break from
art, Christine has since
exhibited her work on many
different occasions over the
last fifteen years.
