With Pride and Passion we support people within the North East to create
opportunities to flourish whilst celebrating our unique talent, culture and
heritage around the world.
Our main gallery is based in Eldon Garden Shopping centre. Here we house 10
displays rooms and showcase the work of over 100 artist , all of whom live and
work in the North East. We are dedicated to supporting our community with a
commitment to not only working with local artists but also supporting local
businesses, everything we choose to do is to support and enrich our city and the
wider North East region.
As an independent business we believe that working together to showcase our
region is the best way for people to understand the true beauty of Newcastle
and our surrounding North East. Each of our artists uses the North East as their
main influencer, representing their interpretation of the area in their own unique
style.

North East Art Collective welcomes the opportunity to work with Melia at 5
your Newcastle hotel and as such have put together the following proposal
for your hotel bedrooms & communal areas.
Based on the artists that Scott Brown showed initial interest in and the details
provided by Joanne Greer we hope that you like what we are presenting here.
As your ethos is to celebrate the culture of the city we have used our
dedication to North East artists to provide you with a vibrant collection of
local art that we feel will truly enhance your guest experience while staying at
INNSiDE.

Suite Proposal
In the following slides you will see the works of art by a selection of our artists for your 40 suite rooms.
These canvas works will be provided unframed.
The artists we have selected showcase a variety of styles and are proven to be loved by consumers
within your target audience.
Rasa Zilinskaite
Rasa absolutely loves the North East, with its friendly people and its fascinating industrial heritage. The
subject matter of her paintings vary greatly. The natural world and the city is a constant source of
wonder, inspiration and delight. Fast, energetic, urgent brush strokes enable Rasa to capture mood of a
fleeing moment.
Darren Mundy
Darren works from his home studio in Whitley Bay where he lives with his wife and 2 sons. He is a self-
taught artist and has developed his Hilltown brand from a small sketch in a book to paintings and prints
that are recognised and popular in the whole of the UK and beyond. Hilltown works are created in a
popular and commercial style that have charm and a hint of humour. Darren’s ultimate aim is to make
you smile – he usually succeeds.

Robert Myers 7
Robert Myers is a North East based artist with a history in computer graphic visualisation. He has over
20 years of experience, growing up with a developing industry. Robert loves working in oil and trying
to capture the world around him. Robert’s City paintings have provided him with so much joy and
inspiration and allowed him to see the world in a different way.
Peter Davidson
Peter’s work is inspired by the nostalgia of his childhood. Using his own memories Peter creates
several different collections of work reflecting different times and events in life that nearly all can
relate to.
Pam Morton
Pam works mainly in Acrylics, as she likes large bold works of art that stand out to give a wow factor.
Her most recent collection of work is based on representing the everyday life of living by the coast

Mick Brown 8
23/11/2020
Mick Brown's work has dramatically
changed over the last 10 years, with
influence from his time spent working
with vulnerable adults his work has
become completely spontaneous with
no pre-planning, sketching, tracing or
copying it is completely freehand. 'I
like to leave as much to the observers
imagination as possible I believe this
means something new is seen every
time.' Every year Mick donates several
pieces of art to Charites for fund
raising and exhibit once or twice a
year supporting local galleries and
communities. Mick's work is spread
around the world, it is original and
constantly changing as Mick continues
to try to push boundaries and not stick
to one subject or genre.

Denise Humphry 10
23/11/2020
Denise was born in Gateshead, she studied
Graphic Design and Printing along with Computer
Aided Art and Design and graduated in 2002.
Denise is a digital artist of sorts, based in
Newcastle Upon Tyne. Her work is primarily
inspired by a fascination with Japanese culture.
Denise's creative process begins with a drawing
as sketching allows her to visualize and imagine
the completed work. Her creations are heavily
influenced by manga and especially by some of
the artists of the Superflat movement (Chiho
Aoshima, Yoshitomo Nara and Makoto
Muramatsu) and also takes influence from Ukiyo-
e and woodblock artists Katsushika Hokusai,
Hishikawa Moronobu and Kitagawa Utamaro.
These images can be transfered to almost
anything with a printable surface. Even though
most of Denise's work is created digitally, she
can’t deny her love for traditional methods of
drawing. The neo-Victorian fineliner illustrations
are influenced by the sub-genre of science
fiction. Denise particularly likes the evocative
design of neo-Victorian fashions and style. Whilst
the anthropomorphic illustrations also take
influence from whimsical childhood memories;
Alice in Wonderland, Brer Rabbit, Wind in the
Willows, Rupert Bear and Tales from Fern Hollow.

Darren Mundy 12
23/11/2020
Darren works from his home studio
in Whitley Bay where he lives with his
wife and 2 sons. He is a self-taught
artist and has developed his Hilltown
brand from a small sketch in a book
to paintings and prints that are
recognised and popular in the whole
of the UK and beyond. He is creating
avid collectors of his work and is
selling his paintings to international
clients. Darren works in acrylics and
uses a vivid colour palette to achieve
maximum impact, with a strong
contrast of light and dark colours.
This has become one of the main
trademarks of his art. You could be
mistaken for thinking that Hilltown is
just little houses on large hills.
However, each Hilltown has its own
story to tell. Hilltown works are
created in a popular and commercial
style that have charm and a hint of
humour. Darren’s ultimate aim is to
make you smile – he usually
succeeds.

Peter Davidson
23/11/2020 14
Peter is a self taught artist born in the
mining town of Ashington in 1968. He
moved to the village of Ellington aged
9 and stayed there until a recent
move to Newcastle. Peter's love of
art goes all the way back to his
childhood and a pencil was never far
from his side growing up, more
recently peter has been able to turn
his love of art into an occupation with
his work now being sold all over the
country in many well established
galleries. Peter started out working in
pencil and explored all the mediums
as he progressed until settling on the
oil paintings he currently produces.
'My work is inspired by the things we
did and saw whilst playing out in the
back lanes and streets as kids, heavy
with nostalgia, a little bit of fun and
hopefully seeing the beauty in the
everyday things that surrounded me.
My work takes me back to a much
simpler and innocent time.'

Ben Staves 16
23/11/2020
Ben Staves, recently graduated
with Masters in Architecture from
Northumbria University. Drawing
and illustrating has always been a
huge passion of Ben's,
particularly when it comes to
architectural studies and
cityscapes. The 3D Globe style
was originally started as a
University project when the
students were given the task of
mapping the city in an unusual
way. Since that first drawing of
Newcastle Ben has gone on to
create globes of a number of
cities around the world including
London, Paris and New York. Ben
uses pen and ink to outline and
detail the cities streets, buildings
and landmarks then add a splash
of colour to highlight the natural
elements in the landscape.

Communal Areas
In the following slides you will see the works of art by a selection of our artists
for your communal areas.
The artists we have selected showcase a variety of styles and a range of subjects
that North East artists have to offer. This is a small range of the artist we work
with in the gallery and is a display that we will rotate on a regular bases to suit
local events and changing styles. We intend to use this space for solo exhibitions
as well as short exhibitions that relate to local and global events.

most essential tool for her is passion and imagination, this mixed with emotions
allows Christine’s creations to have no limits.

Alfie Joey

exciting opportunity of creating a St Oswald's Elmer the Elephant, for Elmer's great North

Christine O’Donnell
23/11/2020 20
Christine's love for art began
to flourish when she was a
child; as she was able to
express her inner creativity
through art with the
encouragement of her family,
including her late Uncle John,
an artist who inspired
Christine to think
independently and led her to
excel in her own talents. Her
first exhibition was at a
museum in Ocean road, South
Shields. The feedback Christine
received from the art critics
was exemplary and filled her
with confidence in pursuing a
career. This inspired Christine
to study art at college in where
she specialised in acrylics.
Following a short break from
art, Christine has since
exhibited her work on many
different occasions over the
last fifteen years.

Thank you for your time
We appreciate you looking over our proposal and hope you have enjoyed
seeing a small selection of the artists we work with.
We hope that the styles suggested are desirable to you and suited to your
brand and the aesthetic direction of INNSiDE.
It goes without saying that if you want some other ideas we have numerous
other artists, and as such if what we have presented doesn’t hit the mark we
are confident we can find something that does.
Please do let us know if you have any questions
