Selection process for listings in this resource guide:

The women-led businesses you can reference in this guide were selected by their business
authority and community ties. Not necessarily a certified women-owned business, but at least 50%
ownership or leadership and holds company decision-making authority. These businesses and
organizations were not required to be a member of Local First Milwaukee, but needed to meet
qualifications as a locally-owned business. Every business and organization within the When
Women Lead MKE resource guide is registered in Wisconsin with no corporate or national
headquarters outside of Wisconsin (headquartered in the Milwaukee 5-county metro area) with at
least 50% of the business owners living in the Milwaukee 5-county metro area, who can also make
independent decisions recording the name, look, purchasing, operations, and marketing of the
business or organization.
