return to 100% in-person learning. We formed a few committees to
prepare for the upcoming school year. One committee focused on keeping
our students and staff safe; they suggested that a hybrid schedule would
be the safest option for our staff and students. The other committee
concentrated on preparing our teachers to educate our students and
advance the curriculum.
Our education committee decided that we needed to provide our teachers
with more technical training to prepare for the upcoming school year.
We conducted eight in-services last summer for our teachers on various
topics to help our teachers advance the curriculum.
This year, one of my goals was to try and keep the school year as normal as
possible. We have a hybrid schedule with students in school every other
day and going to all of their classes like a regular school day. With our
new schedule, numerous other adjustments and faculty, staff, and student
body following protocols, we are proud to say that we have not missed a
single day of classes this year due to COVID.
To keep our Crusaders involved in regular school activities, we introduced
multiple new clubs and activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, Paintball,
Dungeons and Dragons, E-Sports, Model Train Club, and Irish Music Club
to go along with our returning clubs and activities. We had two Kairos
retreats, in-person freshman mass, parent-teacher conferences, two open
houses, and back-to-school night.
This year has been like no other; our faculty, staff, and students are up for
the challenge. We have kept the school year as normal as possible, kept
our students safe, and advanced the curriculum. I am incredibly humbled
and proud to be a small part of our Brother Rice Crusaders’ success!
