Sales and Product Manager Oil & Gas,
Based in HQ Jakarta, Indonesia.
1. What are your job functions right now?
I am working as a Sales & Product Manager Oil & Gas in Jakarta, Indonesia. The aim is to increase the market share
for Oil & Gas customers within Indonesia. This includes sales activities within Jakarta as well as traveling to our
branches in Batam & Balikpapan on a regular basis, since most of potential Oil & Gas customers are located in
those areas. Furthermore, targets have been set at the beginning of each year for all branches related to Oil & Gas
customer. Additionally to follow up & ensure that the targets will be achieved/extended is also part of the job function.
2. What have you experienced/learned working in a. hartrodt?
I have experienced that the employees have a very high value within a. hartrodt. In my point of view, a. hartrodt is
doing a lot to ensure a great working environment for its employees. This can be seen in a lot of benefits for the employees
such as regular trainings, as well as flexible working time to ensure a proper work & life balance for its employees.
3. What do you see yourself doing in the next few years at a. hartrodt?
Honestly, I prefer to set short term goals for myself since the future is quite unpredictable. Means, currently I am
setting my focus on achieving a greater market share in the Oil & Gas market for within Indonesia, which is challenging
enough due to the recent declining oil price. Besides, I would also be able/flexible to face a new challenge one day
in another country of the global network of a. hartrodt, after I have done a satisfying job here in Indonesia.
4. What inspires you most about working at a. hartrodt?
What inspires me most about working here, is the outstanding team spirit. Employees are showing a high commitment
to their work and a strong connection to the company. A lot of employees I met have been working for a long time
in a. hartrodt. This shows that a. hartrodt is a company that gives their employees a great perspective for the future,
which is definitely inspiring for me.
5. How do you balance work & life?
A good work & life balance is very important. To relax after some hectic days, I like to go swimming after work.
On the weekend, I enjoy playing football or traveling to some of the many beautiful places in Indonesia. Moreover,
Spending quality time with friends with having a nice dinner or going to the cinema, helps me to refill my batteries
so that I can get back to work fully recharged.
6. How supportive is the culture here?
The culture in a. hartrodt, I understand as very supportive. It’s the feeling of working not in just any company, but in
a big family. The team spirit is very good and it seems as if all are willing to work and cooperate together to achieve
the same target. Also the flat hierarchy within a. hartrodt leads to a much faster internal communication as well as
to a faster problem solving process, which makes it overall a great working culture.
7. What you like BEST about working at a. hartrodt?
Frankly speaking, I see several benefits in working for a.Hartrodt, which makes it difficult to name just one point.
But since I am supposed to name one, I tend to pick the flexible working hours, which have been successfully
implemented in Indonesia last year. For me, the advantages of the flexible working hours have increased of
personal control over schedule & work environment, a higher flexibility to meet family needs, personal obligations
and life responsibilities conveniently, the reduction of commuting time with the possibility to avoid traffic and the
stress of commuting during rush hours as well as a better work & life balance due to a reduction of absenteeism
and delays. As a result, for me this leads to an increase of the employees’ commitment and moral.

After a few months of trial implementation, the TABS (Terminal Acceptance Booking System) will finally take
effect on the 16th of March 2016, where certain times at certain days are free of charge, while specific times

We are all too familiar with the traffic situation all over Metro Manila, and part of the objective of this move
is to encourage movement of goods during the off-peak time slots, specifically on Sundays, and late evenings
till wee-hours of the morning, i.e. 10pm to 6am. This is further emphasized by giving these schedules as
"FREE" booking slots. However, this would entail certain adjustments in scheduling the pull-out/delivery of
containers, loading/unloading of cargoes at your premises, as well as the production schedule, particularly
for outbound shipments. As from 1st of April, the penalty scheme will be applied, and regret this would again
be additional cost importers/exporters will have to bear.

SINGAPORE Project I: TUAS Project
Delivery of Ship Spares is a pet project of Shipping Agency Department ever since commenced operations effective
October 21st , 2015 at Singapore.
After many attempts of canvassing for new projects and Business Development, one of the potential client, M/s
WELLARD Ships Pte Ltd, had nominated a. hartrodt Singapore for the Import of Calibration Tools/Torque Meters
from ITALY to Singapore.
Mr. Nizar (Regional Operations Manager) met with the Person in Charge/or rather Superintendant in charge of the
Spares movement at WELLARD Ships Pte Ltd office premises. “I further convinced them to appoint us all the way to
deliver the spares right up to the vessel to boost up our business”, says Nizar. They kindly adhered to our request &
appointed us to deliver the spares right up to the vessel/rather onboard the vessel at ST MARINE SHIPYARD”.
These would not have been possible without the prompt co-operation between a.hartrodt Italy Office, Signore Beppe
and Signore Fabriozo. They coordinated very closely with the shipper for the movement of the spares from Italy to Singapore.
Over here at Singapore, Mr. Nizar co-ordinated with his contact and assistance from Airport office to jointly receive/clear
and deliver the spares right onboard the vessel.
The Transporter had no issues about going onboard and getting the documents acknowledged in the photos. The
security had imposed many rigid conditions and delayed the entry into the Shipyard, despite this, the team were able
to deliver them onboard without delaying the vessel.

SOLAS ANNOUCEMENT // W.E.F 1ST JULY 2016
Verification of the Container Gross Weight (Weight-VGM)
Amended Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations effective July 1st 2016
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted amendments to the Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS) Convention.
As for July 1, 2016, all loaded containers are required to have a Verified Gross Mass (VGM) declared by
shippers to the respective ocean carriers with whom the containers are booked.
What is Verified Gross Mass (VGM)?
Method 1: Obtain VGM by weighing the packed container and subtracting the road vehicle
where applicable (chassis/trailer/cab)
Method 2: Obtain VGM by weighing the individual shipments and adding dunnage and the
container tare weight
For our LCL product, a. hartrodt is the Shipper to the ocean carrier. We are directly responsible for obtaining
and transmitting the VGM of the consolidated container in a timely manner to ensure the container is
loaded onto the vessel. SOLAS does not specify applicability to LCL cargo, only to the packed container
which is made up of the aggregated volumes.
As a. hartrodt builds consolidated containers globally, we use a variety of a. hartrodt operated as well as
3rd party warehouses. Therefore, we will be using a combination of both method #1 and #2 in order to
obtain and provide the VGM of the consolidated container to the ocean carrier.
For our FCL product, as a. hartrodt does not control the loading of the container, we rely on our customers
to provide us the VGM. This needs to take place prior to the VGM cut-off at the terminal.
www.hartrodt.com South East Asia Newsletter January - March 2016 | Page 19
Minimum requirements are:
a. hartrodt Reference Number
Container Number
VGM
Unit of Measurement
Date
Name of Person Authorized by the Shipper
There is no single standard implementation process around the world for ensuring the VGM is enforced.
The above is an outline of how a. hartrodt intends to address the VGM terminals to come up with solutions
and pricing that best fit local processes.
a. hartrodt continues ongoing discussions with regulatory authorities and stakeholders around the globe
to ensure systems and procedures are in place before the effective date.
Why amended SOLAS/VGM regulations?
Reporting of lower than actual gross weights for containers is potentially dangerous, regardless of whether
the maximum payload of containers is being exceeded or not. Therefore, to ensure the safety of personnel
in the ports and at sea, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) introduced an amended regulations
stating that the gross weights of all sealed containers must be verified, documented and obtained prior to
loading onto a vessel.
What will change?
Effective 1st July 2016, the verigied gross mass (VGM) of each sealed container must be reported to
the carrier. Exporters who can use ocean carriers that transship their cargo in “hub ports” should be
ready to comply with the new regulation before 1st July 2016.
VGM - What does it include?
The verified gross mass of a container includes the gross weight of the goods and it’s packaging the
weight of the securing material as well as the tare (weight) of the empty container.
How can the VGM be determined?
There are 2 methods to determine the VGM:
1. Weighing
The shipper weighs the sealed container to determine the VGM. The weighing equipment must be calibrated
and certified by national standards.
2. Addition
The shipper adds up the weights of all packages and the securing materials inside the container.
Finally the tare weight of the container is added. In order to make use of this method, the responsible
party needs its method to be certified. This method is not suitable for any kind of bulk cargo.
Note: It is local legislative which determines what the critireas for the method 1 + 2
South East Asia Newsletter January - March 2016 | Page 20 www.hartrodt.com
What consequences are possible?
If the VGM is not communicated to the carrier in time, the container will not be loaded. All charges will be
for customers account. Note: There will be extra charges for FCL and LCL cargo i.e SOLAS-FEE
Do you have any further questions?
There are still many open questions related to this topic, mainly due to the fact that national agencies have
not yet published a final national framework of rules and regulations. If you have any questions, please kindly
address them to your local sales/customer-service representative.
