Glossary

Compare & contrast​- To contrast something is to look for differences

among two or more elements. To compare is to do the opposite as
contrast.​ t​ o look for similarities in comparing.

Problem and solution- I​ n comparison, using problem and solution

format method for analyzing and writing about a topic by having a problem
and a solution to end the problem.

Cause and Effect-C​ ause and Effect is a relationship between events

and other things, where one is the result of the other or the others.

Sequence-​ An arrangement of two or more things in a successive order.

a sequentially ordered set of related things or ideas. an action or event that
follows another or others.

Description- a​ written or spoken statement about something that

enables a reader or listener to picture.

Softball v.s basketball

(compare & contrast)

S​ oftball and Basketball are very similar in many

different ways, but they are also very different. One way

softball is different from basketball is that the balls used for
these two sports are different sizes. One thing alike is that
the people who play both have a uniform and something
special to wear, they both have jerseys. In softball you can
hit the ball from a bat but in basketball you have to use
your hands to make a point. Another similar thing is that
they can both be a form of exercise, some people who
play sports use sports as a form of exercise and that's
what softball and basketball are sometimes used for.
Softball and basketball can both have a travel team, which
means they travel to different states and play against
another team and try to win. Another thing softball and
baseball have a like anyone can play. Boys can play
softball and basketball and girls can play softball and
basketball. Also they both have coaches and they both
practice to get better. Another thing they are different is
that Basketball has shorts and has basketball sneakers
and has other types of jerseys. In softball you wear long
pants, sliding shorts and cleats for the field.



How to prevent from getting hurt

(Problem & solution)

There are many good things that happen in softball, but
there are also many bad things that happen in softball. In
softball you can get hurt and get a bruise and sometimes

you have to brush it off, in games when a ball hits you
really hard you can get a bruise like i said. It it very usual
that you get hurt in this sport but sometimes you have to
just brush it off. The solution is to try to keep an eye on the
ball so this won't happen. Another solution is to wear you

face mask and other protection when the game is in
session. If you play softball be prepared that this sport can

be a very dangerous sport. And you can get hurt and it
can also be very very dangerous!

How to cause and Effect stuff in softball

(Cause & Effect)

A cause that could happen in softball is swinging a bat,
Swinging a bat can be hard at moments you have to have
a bat to fit just you and it has to have a certain number
and a ASA on it. And without the number you can not see
if the height is good or not. The Effect of this is that when
you go shopping for the softball stuff is to look carefully at
the number and to see if it has ASA. Another thing is that
you have to make sure the helmet has a chin strap or you
can not go in the game. Another thing is you have to have
a face mask so the softball does not hit you in the face

and it helps preventing not breaking a nose or anything
like that. The way you can Effect these from happening is
to be careful when you go to buy these softball items and
to look very carefully.

Softball Gear

In softball you have to have a softball gear for
catching. When you wear the catching uniform you have to
make sure it is on right so you don't get hurt. The softball
catching gear is a little uncomfortable but trust me it helps
a lot and helps you not get hurt. There's a current helmet
and surrtent knee pads and a front gear that goes over
you head and onto the front part of you body. You have to
have your glove to catch the ball. You stand behind the
home plate you have to give the pitcher a target so then it
is easier to get them out. The special helmet can be a little
to small but it helps you so then the ball will not come and
hit you in the head. In this picture it shows the uniform just

be careful if you ever play softball and try out for catching!

On this page i'm gonna to explain how to play softball.
First thing is you need to buy the right stuff you need a
bag, helmet, face mask, glove and a bat. You have to
make sure these come with a sticker that has ASA and on
the bat. For your helmet you need to have a chin strap
usually it comes with it. Next practice catching the ball and
getting ready and used to it. Make sure you have the right
ball because with playing in a certain league you need to
have a certain ball, if you play 10u the ball is a little
smaller than 12u balls. Then you should practice swinging
a bat and make sure you know how to swing a bat and
make sure its not heavy. Last but not least when you get
practice in then you have a game and you will be all ready
to play! Make sure you have your face mask and glove
when out on the field. And also don't forget when your
batting to not forget to have you bat and helmet.
