TSIA 1 & TSIA 2—CHANGES ARE COMING
Questions from our AMAZING high school CTCs (CTCs names are anonymous)
1. Do students need to provide their Texas Unique ID or their local student ID if they
are trying to access their TSIA results via the ACCUPLACER Student Portal?
Answer: No. Either will work.
2. Coming January, if a student has not passed either the reading or writing section
of the TSIA by January, their slate will be “wiped clean,” and they will have to take now
ELAR + Writing exam to “Pass” this new section of the TSIA2 test?
Per the College Board: Yes, if a student does not pass the Reading & Writing this year they
will take the ELAR. The ELAR is one test which includes the Essay.
3. If a student has already passed both his math and reading portion of TSI but not the
writing portion, coming January 2021 when we switch to TSIA2, will they be grandfathered
into gaining their point for CCMR? Or must they pass all three sections before January to
solidify that point?
Per TEA Performance and Reporting Division: For students who took TSIA , we will use
the criteria that was adopted at that time. For students who take the new TSIA
2.0, we will use the new criteria. We will continue to accept either.
IS TSIA REMOTE TESTING AN OPTION?
Yes, but not yet. We are currently we are in the process of
researching and getting all the information on this topic. As soon
as the plan is approved by the College Board/Accuplacer we will
provide more information.

TELPAS PRACTICE TESTS
TEA released the 2020 TELPAS tests to allow students the chance to apply the skills that are tested during
the Reading, Listening, and Speaking tests. The released TELPAS tests take appropriately 30 minutes – 1
hour, though the length of time is dependent on the strengths of the students. TELPAS is an untimed test.
The Listening and Speaking tests are both together during one practice session. The suggested timeline for
TELPAS practice has been modified from what was shared this summer. It is recommended that teachers
take both released tests in September to see the skills students need to be rated advanced high. Students
have a minimum of two opportunities to practice, with an optional third chance. Campuses are welcome to
use the released TELPAS tests more often then scheduled and utilize and off-grade-level released TELPAS
test, if and when appropriate.
