Proceeds will benefit the Jack and Jill of America Foundation,
Academic Incentive Grants, and other 501(c)(3) organizations

Every year, college students are unable to graduate because of small unpaid bills, ultimately
dropping from their courses and leaving school without a degree. Some go home to a minimum
wage job (if a job at all) to now paying off student loan debt. The JJ College GAP Fund isn’t
new, however it is a new collaboration with Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and Jack and Jill of
America Foundation to intervene and provide a lifeline for students during this critical time of
expected graduation. Students do not need to write another essay or look for another
UNFORGIVEN loan. They will just need to show up to class, and the remaining bill is “PAID
IN FULL”.
The goal is to establish a collaborative $2 Million Dollar Scholarship Endowment over a 10-year
period (Foundation will raise and/or match $100,000 annually) for students attending
Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This restricted endowment meets the charitable
goals of the Foundation to make a lasting impact in the lives of deserving students at HBCUs.
Jack and Jill Foundation is recognized as a public charity under IRS 501(c)(3) requirements for
a charitable organization and all contributions are eligible to receive a tax-deduction in
accordance with IRS Code section 170.

What is a Beautillion?

The Beautillion Ball is a social rite of passage culminating in a Black Tie affair that celebrates the
introduction of young gentlemen to society. The Beautillion is a celebration commemorating the

achievements of young African-American men who are graduating high school seniors.
This celebration marks the end of adolescence and the beginning of their future as productive and

responsible African-American men.

THE BEAUS

A Beau is a young, African-American man who is preparing himself to conquer the world and reach
his full potential with the love and support of his family, his community, his faith and his educational
foundation. He is set apart among young men by his character. The young men chosen to be Beaux
are selected from a number of recommended candidates following an application and interview
process. The criteria used to determine the most suitable candidates for the Beautillion program
include demonstrated achievements in academics, sports, the arts, leadership, community service and
church involvement, as well as an overall commitment to the advancement of the African-American
communities.

BEAUTILLION PROGRAMS

The Beautillion process spans over four to six months of preparation with the following goals for
each participant:

To recognize the achievements of young African-American men as a community.
To inspire and stimulate further growth, academic excellence, community service, learning and
leadership.
To enhance their sense of civic responsibility and appreciation for cultural heritage.
To bring about self-awareness, self-determination, self-actualization and purpose greater than
self.
To provide meaningful experiences that foster community service, develop peer/mentor
relationships, broaden social awareness and facilitate leadership development.

The Beaus and their parents were provided with numerous activities hosted by the Beautillion
Committee and the Father’s Auxiliary that supported the aforementioned goals. Programs included:

Beau and Belle Meet and Greet at the Golf Center of Arlington
Beau and Belle Formal Etiquette Dinner at Mercury Chophouse
Beau and Belle Theater outing at Jubilee Theatre
Beau, Beau Dad and Mentor Retreat at Mount Lebanon Camp

Arlington Chapter
History

The Arlington Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, was the result of an idea which
was initially discussed by Mrs. Doris Johnson and Ms. Linda Banks.

This idea was presented to members of the Fort Worth Chapter who resided in Arlington. Unable
to organize a chapter while members of an existing chapter, the idea was acted upon by Ms.
Emma Walker and Mrs. Doris Johnson. On April 8, 1991, Fort Worth agreed to become the
sponsoring chapter of the Arlington Interest Group. The group then received Provisional Group
status in July 1991.

The first year was filled with group activities and meetings that allowed the members the
opportunity to get to know each other. On June 9, 1992, twenty-nine (29) mother’s names were
submitted for Provisional Chapter status. This status was granted at the 1992 Jack and Jill of
America, Inc. National Convention in Orlando, Florida. The Arlington Chapter of Jack and Jill
of America, Incorporated was chartered on September 12, 1992 with Doris Johnson serving as
the first President.

Beautillion Committee

Chairpersons

Good evening and welcome to the 23rd Annual Beautillion Ball and Fundraiser hosted by the
Arlington Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Jack and Jill of America, Inc., was created
with one goal in mind, to nurture not only our children, but all children, and to prepare them for
adulthood and position them to be tomorrow's leaders. As with every year of this 23-year long
tradition, our hope is the Beautillion experience has helped to fulfill the purpose of Jack and Jill
in the lives of these young men. These young men exemplify the very best of our leaders of
tomorrow. They have truly blessed us and made our hearts joyful with their presence, smiles,
determination, and we proudly present them to you tonight.

Our theme for this year, “Reshaping the Past with Leaders of the Future,” speaks directly to these
nine young men’s preparation and will continue as they take the reins as leaders in their homes,
communities, and even across the country.

For the past five months, our beaus have dedicated their time and attention to participating in our
Beautillion program. A program structured around activities that develop not only leadership but
life skills. We honor them tonight, not only for their dedication to the Beautillion program but also
for their endless list of achievements in academics, sports, and civic service!

Although tonight is the culmination of this year’s Beautillion class, we wish to reassure the families
and Beaus that our journey does not end with this one grand event. The members of the Arlington
Chapter will continue to support you, pray for God’s covering over you, and trust that you know
wherever you are you always have a home in Jack and Jill. We are incredibly proud of you and
cannot wait to hear how God has expanded your territory and to see just how far you go.

Finally, our Mother Member’s would be remiss if we did not thank the amazing fathers of the
Arlington Chapter. The fathers and father figures of these Beaus have taken an active and
involved role in organizing and executing many of our activities and have stepped forward to help
whenever and however needed. We truly could not have done it without you and salute you
tonight as well.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy this wonderful evening prepared for you and help us marvel in and
celebrate these fine young men as they embark on their next step into adulthood.
