Elderbank Early Years Newsletter
December 2020

Dear Parent/Carers,

The excitement is building in the Early Years for the upcoming
Christmas celebrations! These may be a little different this year
from our usual traditions however we are determined to make it
as fun and magical as always. Please find below information about
the events that are planned.

Christmas Bauble Challenge -
We would love to decorate our Christmas tree with unique and
colourful baubles! We have a special homework challenge for
your child to create a decoration which can be of any design and
made from any material of choice. We are looking forward to
seeing our tree sparkling with lots of unique decorations, good
luck!

Please bring your bauble in to Early Years by Friday 11th December.

Christmas Showcase:
The children are enjoying learning a variety of Christmas songs
and would love to share them with you virtually. To experience
the magic of performing for an audience, each Bubble will
perform to one another from their designated areas and will
always ensure they maintain the distance between the Bubbles.
You, as parents/carers, will be treated to a virtual showcase
which will be sent to you via the secure network of Seesaw,
please complete the consent form which you will receive and
return to the EY. Further information will follow once the
consent forms are collected.

Virtual Christmas Fayre:
The children are busy creating a special surprise for you to
purchase as part of our ‘Virtual Christmas Fayre’ which has been
organised by Elderbank Pupil Council. You will receive an order
form via an email on Monday 7th December to complete and return
online and an envelope to enclose they payment for the item if
you wish to order. Please keep an eye on your inbox for further
information and a sneak preview of our item for sale.

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 11th December
The children are invited to wear something festive to EY, this
may be a Christmas themed jumper, t-shirt, head piece, tinsel or
something sparkly. There is a suggested donation of £1.00 for
participating, we can wait to see your outfits!

Christmas Party – Friday 18th December
The EY will be celebrating in style with lots of dancing, party
games and party food all from the safety of their Bubbles. Each
child will receive a present that has been delivered by Santa’s
magical elves who will be joining the EY throughout December to
spread Christmas cheer and kindness!
Please note a change of session times on the date for the party:

AM – 10.00-12.00pm PM:1.00-3.00pm

The McDougalls Show – Monday 21st December
Instead of visiting the theatre we are going to experience our
own private screening of the fantastic, interactive McDougalls
Christmas Party show. We will dim the lights and watch on the
big screen, making sure we join in with the party and eat some
tasty treats whilst doing so!

Final session – Wednesday 23rd December
The EY will close for the Christmas holiday on Wednesday 23rd,
please note a change of session times on this date.

AM – 8.30-10.30am PM:12.30-2.30pm
The EY will reopen on Wednesday 6th January at the usual
session times.

On behalf of the EY team I would like to thank you for your
ongoing support during this year of unprecedented change. The
heart of everything we do is to ensure the best experience for
each and every one of the children and families who are apart of
our EY community. If you would like to discuss anything related
to your child or the EY please do not hesitate to get in touch. In
the new year all parents/carers will have the opportunity to
participate in a telephone appointment with their child’s
Keyworker to discuss their progress, more information will follow
next term.

Kind regards,
Mrs Carruthers,
Senior Early Years Practitioner
