Weekly Challenge 1 – Frozen Fun!
Brrrr, it’s been very cold and icy so far this winter. Now that the ice has melted
outside, our challenge this week is to create our own ice inside. Using a bowl
or container fill it with some water and find some items to put inside the water
e.g toy figures, animals, plastic numbers. You could have some fun experimenting
with the water and toys whilst it is a liquid by pouring, filling and splashing! Once
you have finished place your filled bowl into the freezer and leave it until the next day.
Now that the cold temperature has changed the water to solid ice can you rescue your
toys that have been frozen! Can get you get them out of the ice? Will you use tools?
Some salt? Some warm water? Or let it melt by itself? ❄️
This activity can be extended by using different shaped containers when making the
ice including ice cube trays, balloons, disposable gloves or by adding food colouring/paint
to the water.
Please share any photographs of you participating in this activity with your Keyworker,
we would love to see how you get on!
