It can be a bit tricky for children to tell the difference
between letters and numbers.

Make it into a fun game way by hiding letters and
numbers around the house or garden …Can your child

find them all?
Once they have all been found can you sort them into

letters and numbers?
Another way to help recognise the difference between
letters and numbers is to do a chart with your child…

If you cut out a range of letters and numbers out of a
sheet of paper or on post it notes can your child put

them in the correct section?
Another favourite activity is to do a write lots of
different letters and numbers on paper/chalk outdoors
etc. Ask your child to circle all the letters with one
colour and all the numbers with another colour?

Different games like this will build your child’s ability to
recognise a range of letters and numbers.
