‘I use estimating words such as bigger, smaller,
more or less’

A way to encourage the use of mathematical language is
while outdoors playing!

Ask your child to go on a hunt for leaves, stones and
twigs.

Once they have found their ‘treasure’ you can use them
to compare which item is bigger/longer/tallest?
What item did they find more of?

This can be a fun easy family challenge between siblings
or simply you and your child who can find the biggest
stick or the smallest leaf.
Adding this language during their play will extend their
vocabulary and their understanding of size.
