Settling back into Early Years and having fun. Welcome back Harris.

Harris enjoys exploring all the areas in the
playroom he has settled back in with ease. He

likes to help make the play dough, carefully
scooping the flour into the cup.

I would like to learn about ...
To support Harris to identify which hand
he prefers to use when mark making. I am learning to take responsibility for and begin
to plan my own learning. As part of my PLP

targets I identified that I wanted to play with
the prams outside.

Harris eagerly participates in all woodland
sessions within the forest. He particularly enjoys
climbing trees and playing on the tree swing.

rules and has been sharing them with the new
children.

Pirate Harris had lots of fun at our Halloween
party. He enjoyed participating in lots of
spooky games and activities.

Harris enjoyed our Christmas party. He looked
very smart and enjoyed meeting Santa and
taking part in all of the festivities. $

Harris did a wonderful job of
becoming Joseph for our
Christmas nativity song. He has
also been busy participating in
lots of fun Christmas
experiences. $

PLP goes
here This term Harris has made excellent progress
and has achieved all of his targets! Alongside
this he has also achieved many other milestones
and shown resilience and confidence within this

session including the addition of the lunch
service and playroom changes when our ‘bubbles’

popped. He has formed lovely friendships with
his peers and enjoys sharing experiences with
them. He has been a fantastic role model to our
new children and helped them to learn the rules

and routines. Harris has shown a great
understanding of phonological awareness skills,

especially his understanding of rhyme,
alliteration and syllables.

I would like to learn about ...
PLP goes
here I am learning to take responsibility for and begin
to plan my own learning. As part of my PLP

targets I identified that I wanted to make red
play dough. I followed instructions to complete

the task. I was delighted to be involved in the
process and play with the end result.

Harris is now independent in dressing for
outdoor learning and home time. He can

put on his own puddle suit, wellies,
jacket, shoes, hat and he can even zip up

his jacket!

Harris is learning to manage fastenings independently. January-March 2022

Harris used his skills for dressing
independently and managing fastening
whilst dressing teddy in a smart shirt.

He showed real perseverance whilst
doing so and even tried to fasten the

tricky buttons! He continued his
button practise with his cardigan and

managed to fasten them all
independently!

Harris went on a shape hunt around the
playroom to find items with the same

features and properties of the different
shape wands. He successfully found all
of the shapes in different areas of the
playroom and confidently discussed and
compared the shapes corners, sides and

straight/curved edges.

Harris uses the wooden blocks
and magnetic shapes

creatively to build a variety of
structures. He used

comparative and descriptive
language when talking about
the feature of the shapes he

3D shapes and labelled them.

Harris has been a super star again and achieved all of
his targets for this term!

Harris is completely independent whilst getting ready
for outdoor play and home time, including consistently
managing his zip! Harris continues to demonstrate an

excellent understanding of phonological awareness
skills and can confidently tell the difference between
numbers and letters. Harris can identify familiar words

by their initial sound and has a good grasp of
alliteration. Harris can describe the features and
properties of shapes and identify them with this

environment and use them creatively whilst
constructing, he can discuss and compare their
similarities and differences using appropriate language

e.g. corner, curve, edge.
I am so proud of Harris’s continued progress, he is an

absolute shining star!

My ‘Bright Idea’ child’s plan was to build a
house. I used my creativity and problem
solving skills to use a range of
construction materials to build walls
which created the perfect home!

Shared on Seesaw Harris has continued to make fantastic progress
for his final term at Early Years.

Health & Well-being: Harris can confidently
take on a variety of roles, he is adaptable,
flexible, considerate and displays natural

leadership skills in a context he is familiar with.
Harris embraces new challenges and is eager to
learn independently and within a group context.

Literacy & English: Harris is motivated to draw
and write, he naturally produces representative
letters when mark making. Harris is eager to be

involved in writing experiences which are
purposeful e.g. letters, lists, maps, cards.

Numeracy & Maths: Harris demonstrates a
good awareness of quantity. He uses concrete
materials to match an amount to a given number
and explore the concepts of more/less/add/take

away.

Harris has also enjoyed visiting his new class
teacher Miss Todd and the Primary 1 environment
as part of his transition. He has worked so hard

this term and I am so proud of him.
