Women are underrepresented as technology company founders and leaders. Tech Garden is
a community-led event designed by community leaders like MergeLane, Techstars, Galvanize,
BoomTown, and LadyCoders to empower more women to start technology companies by
connecting them to a network of like-minded women for support, shared learning, and role
models. Tech Garden aims to provide women entrepreneurs, leaders and technologists the
role models and guidance they need to go out and grow their careers and businesses.

SPEAKERS

Amy Reichlin

Amy Reichlin is founder of Amy Reichlin Consulting and JoyRx. Her primary passion is to help
create happy, inspired environments. She is a local Leadership, Mindfulness and Emotional
Intelligence Coach and Trainer who delights in teaching people skills that help them relate to
themselves and others with more awareness, kindness and e cacy. Amy has an MBA (Kellogg),
Masters in Psychology (Naropa), coaching certificate, and recently completed the Search Inside
Yourself mindfulness training program in San Francisco. Amy’s client base ranges from startups
to more established companies. She enjoys “giving back” by serving as a coach at Teachstars
and MergeLane, and on the boards of the YWCA and North Boulder Little League.

Andrea Young

Andrea Young currently serves as the President & CEO of Colorado Technology Association
(CTA). Prior to joining CTA, Andrea was the Executive responsible for Research and
Development, Engineering, and Information Technology disciplines with BI Incorporated. In
addition, Ms. Young was the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Data Privacy O cer
for Janus Capital Group. Andrea has served on several nonprofit Boards, including as a Board
Chair of Colorado Technology Association, Board President of New Foundations for Nonviolence
Center, and Advisory Board Member of the Denver University Industry Advisory Board for School
of Engineering and Computer Science. Andrea holds a B.S. degree and an MBA from University
of Denver.

Kimberly Lucas

Kimberly Lucas is the Founder and Chief People Connector at Goldstone Partners, Inc., a
Colorado-based search and talent advisory firm specializing in recruitment strategy and engaged
search for privately-held companies. As a seasoned entrepreneur and career coach, Kimberly is
committed to helping founders build strong, profitable companies that stand the test of time. As
a Certified Strengthsfinder coach she works with individuals and teams to help them achieve
their stated objectives. Kimberly is an active mentor for MBA students at the University of
Colorado’s Leeds School of Business, serves on the board of the Rockies Venture Club, is a
founding member of RVC Women and facilitates a Thinking Partner Mastermind group.

Sue Heilbronner

Sue is a CEO, founder, speaker, advisor, investor, mentor, professor, former civil rights attorney,
creative visionary, operator, and catalyst. Sue is the co-founder and CEO of MergeLane, an
investment fund and accelerator targeting companies with at least one woman in leadership.
Sue has been a CEO, president, and chief marketing o cer for digital companies since the
earliest days of the Internet. She began her career as an attorney. From there, she transitioned to
business, leading companies in the interactive travel, digital publishing, ecommerce, and online
education sectors. Sue serves as a mentor for the Techstars Accelerator and an adjunct professor
of law and entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado Law School.

Wendy Lea

Wendy is the CEO of Cintrifuse, a public-private partnership that enables high-growth startups
to prosper in Cincinnati. Wendy uses her years of entrepreneurial experience to lead and mentor
the most promising startups in #StartupCincy. Her entrepreneurial success is evidenced through
the acquisition of OnTarget by Siebel Systems; Stratify’s acquisition by Iron Mountain and, most
recently, Get Satisfaction’s acquisition by Sprinklr. As a board member she also guided
exponential growth that led to a significant round of private equity investment for Corporate
Visions. Wendy is on two non-profit boards, The Health Collaborative and Cincinnati's Symphony
Orchestra. She also serves on the private venture-backed board of Zyleme. In 2012 and 2013, she
was recognized as a Women of Influence in Silicon Valley and in San Francisco.

Stephanie Donnor

Stephanie F. Donner is the Chief Legal and People O cer, and Corporate Secretary for Galvanize
Inc. Prior to joining Galvanize, Stephanie served as Chief Legal Counsel for Governor John W.
Hickenlooper. Stephanie also served Governor Hickenlooper as Deputy Chief of Sta and
Executive Director and General Counsel for the Colorado Recovery and Resiliency O ce.
Stephanie was also an associate at Morrison & Foerster and clerked at the Federal District Court
for the District of Colorado. She graduated from the University of Houston Law Center. She
currently serves as a board member for: Girls, Inc., Board of Trustees for the Colorado Symphony
Orchestra, The Denver Metropolitan Major League Baseball Stadium District, The Governmental
Entrepreneurs Accelerators Program.

Allyson Downey

Allyson Downey is an entrepreneur, writer, MBA, and parent who has built a career on the power
of trusted advice. In 2013, she launched weeSpring, a Techstars-backed startup that helps new
and expecting parents. She is also the author of the book Here's the Plan, the pregnancy and
parenting guide to your professional life. She’s written for publications like the Wall Street
Journal and Inc., and she’s been a speaker at NYU Stern, Columbia Business School, and Women
2.0. She has appeared on ABC World News Now and Power Pitch on CNBC. Allyson has an MBA
and MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Colby College. She serves on the board of
Democracy Prep Public Schools.

CENTERING PRACTICE

A centering practice begins with the alignment of the physical body. However it’s implications go beyond posture or a
particular way of behaving. The deeper and more expansive possibility is that centering itself is the goal. We can include the
practice of centering in our life, every endeavor, from washing dishes to building a business to waiting in line at the grocery
store, can be ground for developing ourselves.

We often think of center as something solid or static as a physical place. Center is the living process of self-organization
that increases our capacity to be self-generating, self-healing, and self-educating. To center ourselves is to shape ourselves
in a particular way to life. Center is a state of unity in which e ective action, emotional balance, and mental alertness, and
spiritual vision are in a harmonious balance. When we are centered, our actions are coherent with what we care about.

Centering along the dimension of length begins by aligning the head, shoulders, torso, pelvis, knees and feet directly on top
of each other. Once we have established alignment along the vertical axis, we relax into the downward flow of gravity by
releasing the tension in the eyes, forehead, jaw, and chin, shoulders, abdomen, hips, and pelvis, and legs. This lowers our
center of gravity, and the weight is transferred from the muscles to the bones When we cease the struggle of holding
ourselves upright and allow our bones, gravity and the earth to support us, we enter into a dynamic state of relaxation. This
increases the possibility of powerful and e ortless action.

Centering along the dimension of width, we balance left to right along the horizontal axis. Because most of us are
uni-lateral, either right-or left-handed, we usually find ourselves tilted to one side or another. To balance along this
dimension is to stand equally on the left and right feet. There’s symmetry between the left and right shoulders and both hip
joints, with the head directly over the chest.

Centering along the dimension of depth, we align ourselves from front to back. We balance ourselves so we’re neither
tipped forward nor leaning back. Because we’re the future – oriented animal, pre-occupied with our thoughts and
possessing the majority of our sense organs in the front of our body, we’re predisposed to be ahead of ourselves and out of
contact with our back, our shadow, our history and traditions. Conversely, when we lean into life for survival or success, our
heart and chest are pulled back and we lose our orientation for enjoying the process of living. Aligning front to back, we rest
onto our spine while opening the belly.

We drop our attention to a point some two inches below the naval, the center of gravity. From a physiological point of view
this is the balance point of the body and where the strongest muscles intersect. This is why when we push a heavy object it
is advisable to bend the knees and get our hips into the e ort.

Shifting the attention from our thoughts to our center of gravity produces a stability and strength in action. Anyone who
has a bodily practice from a running back in football to an experienced horse person knows this. All living things have a
center of gravity, and we’re most physically e ective when we move from this center. When we unify our mind and body we
increase our capacity for skillful action.

By scanning our body and location our center of gravity we begin to see how our attention can be willfully organized and
directed to bring a greater vividness and control to life. We are able to shift our moods, listen with greater depth to the
concerns of others, move in accord with natural laws, and increase our choices.

“Energy follows attention,” means that feeling, sensation, and aliveness increase and become more vivid at the place where
we direct our attention. When we’ve trained our attention we can swell and expand our excitement or narrow it to a
laser-like focus. By directing attention in a disciplined way it’s possible, for example, to observe the inter-relatedness
between our back pain and an emotional state, and then to articipate in releasing the contraction by breathing into the
tension.

Training the attention is fundamental to the process of self- organization called center. The attention is the glue in unity
making. The wholeness produced by unifying mind and body gives us certain potency for living in the world. We see new
possibilities for relationship action, healing, and learning that weren’t available to us previously. Connection to the life of the
body in this way opens the possibility of shifting from a fixed, thinking of living to one of invention and skillful action.
