Winter Season 2019 Internal Tournament Dates

Dear Parent,
I wrote to you back in June to talk about Delta Tennis Centre’s coaching team and their strong
beliefs when your child first walks through the centres doors, they will continue to
play/compete/participate in tennis for the rest of their lives.
As I stated before Tennis statistically has one of the best records amongst the traditional sports for
attracting new players into the sport. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA, governing body) invest
millions of pounds into this through various initiatives. Unfortunately, retention of players within the
sport is lower compared to other traditional sports. We understand tennis is a unique sport that
unlike football, where you go to weekly training and compete in a team matches at the weekend,
this doesn’t happen frequently enough in tennis.
The introduction of the team challenge and internal tournaments has gone a long way to remedy
these issues. Last term we hosted 9 internal tournaments with over 100 players participate. On top
of this we also entered teams into 7 events with local clubs; enabling 30 children to compete at
local venues against local club players. As a result of this Delta had over 130 juniors competing in
tennis last term, for whom many these was there first taste of competition.
The response to these fun and friendly tournaments has been overwhelming and we are happy to
announce we will be hosting more opportunities to compete between now and Christmas.

hope to see as many of you as possible entering these tournaments, if you do have any queries
