18 | P a g e 3. PISM SPORTS DAY COMPETITION 3.1. PROGRAM DETAIL Name of Event : 1 st Sports Day Planetarium International School, Melaka Date : TBC Time : 8.00 am – 2.00 pm Venue : Planetarium International School, Melaka 3.2. INTRODUCTION The primary goal of this event is the development of the student's mental, emotional, social and intellectual capacity. PISM exists to help mould holistic individuals who positively shape the world. It is in light of the above that Planetarium International School, Melaka is proposing Sports Day 2024. Sports Day usually occurs once a school year, in the first or second semester. It is a day when the school community including staff and parents/guardians come together to watch and support the children in track and field as well as athletic events. It is one of the most popular events listed in academic calendar and it requires intricate planning and massive manpower for it to run efficiently. Sports Day is also a perfect platform for students to show their talents and abilities in sports. The events are confined to those of elite track and field meets; this often dictates the content of the PE program in previous weeks. Training in events such as sprint and long-distance running will be carried out to enable students to perform well on the big day itself. The structures of the competition mirror Olympic protocols, with heats, qualifying and final stages. Even the officiation reflects this, with full-fledged competitions and standard rules. Furthermore, for 2024, it is targeted more than 99.9% of students will involve and participate in sports day. The inclusive objectives shall be discussed below. 3.3. OBJECTIVES ➢ To prepare students representing the school in MSSD track and field events. ➢ To increase the number of students participating in sports activities ➢ To improve performance of PISM students in sports especially in track and field events.

19 | P a g e ➢ To enthuse and encourage students to take pride and ownership in representing their sports houses during sports competitions. ➢ To help mould holistic students in terms of mental, emotional, social and intellectual capacity. ➢ To instil teamwork and cooperation among students, teachers and staffs. ➢ To improve rapport between students, teachers, alumni and parents. 3.4.
