The Brave Little Turtle

TSLB3483 STORYTELLING IN THE ESL PRIMARY CLASSROOM

The Brave Little Turtle

Timmy, the little turtle, lived in a peaceful pond surrounded by tall trees and blooming lilies.

Every day, he watched the bigger turtles swim across the river to the enchanted garden, where the most beautiful flowers and delicious fruits grew.

He dreamed of going there one day, but theriver looked too deep, and the currents too strong.

One afternoon, a fish come near Timmy. "You stare at the river every day, " the fish said. "What are you afraid of?"

Timmy sighed. "I'm too small to make it across. " The fish chuckled. "Courage is not about size. It is about heart. If you never try, you will never know what you are capable of. "

The next morning, he took a deep breath and stepped into the river. The cold water swirled aroundhim, and the current was strong, pushing him back. He paddled as hard as he could, but his little legs were no match for the rushing water.

Just as he was about to give up, a kind fish swambeside him. "Follow me, " she said. "There’s a calmer path ahead. "

Timmy followed the fish, and soon, the water became easier to swim in.

But as he neared the other side, a large snake slithered into his path. "You’re too small to pass, " it hissed. Timmy gulped but remembered the frog’s words. "I may be small, but I am determined, " he said.

He grabbed a floating leaf and tossed it far away. The snake, thinking it was food, slithered away, and Timmy swam past.

Finally, Timmy reached the enchanted garden. The air smelled sweet, and birds chirped happily. He had done it!

From that day on, Timmy was known as the bravest little turtle in the pond. Whenever other small turtles doubted themselves, they looked to him for inspiration.
