Much Ado About Nothing

FLHS Drama Production 2026

AG

Much Ado Written by W Adaptation by Ch With Original Mus Lyrics by Natali *StudentLogo Design: Alex Greenberg*Program Design: Alex Singapore*, Alex Greenberg*, Marnie Guadagno*Welcome to Fairfield Ludlowe High School, and to our spring production ofMuch Ado About Nothing! Since starting with the Drama program in 2019, I’vetried to offer our students and audiences variety with our shows- with an evenmix of drama and comedy, classic and contemporary, and this show, which hasa little bit of everything! It takes a village to produce any show, and when you have almost 90 studentsinvolved, that village works overtime! Special thanks, as always, to the mostincredibly supportive Principal there is, Dr. Greg Hatzis, as well as to Reginaand Geri in the front office who keep us going behind the scenes! Thank you toour amazing custodial staff, who keep our Auditorium so beautiful. And ofcourse thank you to our AMAZING staff of teachers and theatreprofessionals who dedicate their time and talent to making magic for us all.Much Ado About Nothing is one of my absolute favorite works of Shakespeare. From the #couplegoals of Beatrice and Benedick, to the hilarious antics ofThe Watchmen, to the evil machinations of Don John, to the tricky love storyof Hero and Claudio (which gets a bit of an update in our version), this is ashow that keeps an audience entertained! To make it even more entertaining,we decided to set the production in 1945 New Orleans, immediately followingthe return of soldiers from World War II after Operation Magic Carpet. Thereare really only two rules to adapting this show: 1) there must be a war fromwhich the soldiers are returning, and 2) it must take place in a patriarchalsociety. We check both of these boxes AND get the added bonus of ourbackdrop being the birthplace of American jazz music!Director’s Note

This production takes p home from W This play wil 1.Outside Leonato’s H “ Music by Brand 2.Outside Leonato’s H I wanted to give a special thanks to our amazing creative team- ourchoreographer Andrea, who tells this story with such beautiful movement; ourMusic Supervisor Mr. Fasoli, for not just overseeing but PLAYING this jazzscore; our incredible designers Mark, Kelley, Hailey, Gensur, and Eli forworking tirelessly behind the scenes to make this show as good as it is; and ourabsolutely amazing Drama Parents (The Mewsies) for… everything!Thank you so much for supporting educational theatre. We are incrediblyproud of the program that we have built together over the last few years, andwe hope that you enjoy this original adaptation- a love letter to Shakespeare,New Orleans, jazz, and beignets! Two years ago, we produced Romeo & Juliet and were gifted with originalmusic from one of our graduating seniors, Mel Dreizen. Brandon Lawrenceplayed bass in that production, and is now a senior and composing andarranging original music for this production. We are so lucky to have such anincredible music department in Fairfield, and it is a joy to get to utilize thetalents of some of our incredible musicians with this show!Scene list
