I write on behalf of the Base management staff and vessel crew
members of Forcados operations to offer members of the Usoro's
family, our sincere and heartfelt condolence over the passing on to
eternity of your dear Father, Patriarch and Husband, LATE CHIEF
(HON). MATTHEW AKPAN USORO at the age of 93 years.
The nurturance and support of a father can't be replaced, Papa's
demise therefore will no doubt leave a huge void difcult to ll in
your lives and those he touched and cared for. Nonetheless, we
encourage you and your siblings to take solace in the fact that he
lived a good life worthy of emulation. Importantly, he departed to be
with his creator who loved him most.
Although most of us did not know Papa personally, but we are aware
that he was an epitome of enterprise, diligence and hospitality
whose high standard and discipline helped to model his children
positively. Consider yourselves blessed to have shared in the joy,
peace and blessings of his life before his demise.
As you inter his remains, we pray that the good Lord will give you
and other family members the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss
and grant the soul of your Father eternal rest in His bosom.

Your father was a devout Christian who served God and mankind
with great candour. His passing away is a great loss to you, the family,
Church and the entire community. He was generous,
accommodating, highly disciplined and was known for his
expression of love to all.
Although his death will leave a void in your life and that of your
family members, I pray the Almighty God to grant you the fortitude
to bear this irreparable loss.

community leader who devoted his time and resources towards serving others.
Death is inevitable.It is one of those harsh and hard realities which one cannot but accept.Everyone
has to go one day and we have to accept the truth because there is time for everything-a time to be born
and a time to die.Be assured that the legacies he left behind shall remain evergreen in the memories of all
who knew him.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
We write on behalf of all members of Ika Builder Forum (IBF) to express our
heartfelt sympathy on the death of your dear father, Chief Brendan AkpanUsoro
(Uyo Ika). We are saddened by his demise and share in your pain.
We are thankful to God for his longev ity and the gift of his illustrious presence over
the years. Papa’s legacy is assured through his very distinguished children and
many others he mentored, taught and literarily planted. We are lucky to have
benefited from some of his illustrious children in Ika and the larger World. No doubt,
his industry and discipline impacted on his children and all those he came in
contact with.
We are aware that he defied the contending forces of limited exposure of persons
of his generation to the outside World, to excel to be a shining example. We
celebrate this erudite son of Ika, an orator, a visionary community leader, a
patriot, and a father par excellence.
It is our fervent prayer that the good Lord will grant you, your siblings and the
extended family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

My sincere congratulations to the entire family of Chief Brendan Uyo Matthew Usoro, for staying alive to witness your
father's achievements and legacies, as well as his long-life span of 93 years and for the special respects accorded to your
one in a million Father at his exit from this world! I also extend, my heartfelt condolences to you for the loss of an
irreplaceable father like yours. Though he lived past the Biblical age for the strong of 80years to be 93 (Ps. 90:10), yet
we still feel difficult to let go of him because of his rarity.
As a Senior Seminarian in Philosophy two, in 1975, I lived with the Usoro family for two weeks during my Apostolic
Work to St Augustine Parish, Urua Inyang parish were my uncle, late Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Afangideh was the Parish
Priest. Here, MmaAgnes (a.k.a Mma Grace/ Eka- Magdalene) and Chief Brendan received me into their family as their
own son for the duration of my stay. There was much love, enough to eat and togetherness and time for spiritual
activities. I left a home to find a home also full of love. I am still proud to identify with them today. Thank you, Patron
Brendan, and Mma Agnes for the good foundation I came to see which you laid for your children 47 years ago! Patron
Brendan Usoro lived a very productive life. He made a name for himself as a diversified and visionary investor, trading
in palm produce, and many other investments for the good of his children and community. He owned service cars.
Little Augustine, Innocent and Regis, their cousin, all of them were intelligent neat and brilliant kids and would later
become my students at Queen of Apostles Minor Seminary, Afaha Obong. Today I am proud to say that they have
become great men with their families. Dr. Augustine & Princess Rita Usoro and Dr. (Barr) Innocent & Attorney (Dr.
Mrs.) Anie IB. Usoro. Their wonderful, intelligent, very industrious, loving, excellent and caring wives/mothers, with
exceptional children in their different careers in the United States of America are sources of pride to the entire Usoro
family. These are the DNAs (Deoxyribonucleic Acid, - that chemical, in every human cell that contains genetic
information) that Patron Brendan had passed unto his children – hard work, focus and perseverance with a heart of
gold! This man has indeed immortalized his name. Children, be proud of your taproot!
Today, we come to pay our respects to this great Man. When God saw he was tired and could not carry on again with his
active life, God, extended that DIVINE INVITATION to him, “COME TO ME ALL YOU WHO LABOR AND ARE
BURDENED AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST…” (Matthew 11:28). Now that he has gone to take the crown of his
glory, there is still work for us to do. Here, as I recall the immortal words of President Abraham Lincoln, I turn to Chief
Brendan's wonderful family, children and grandchildren and all in the family, and say to them, 'follow in the footsteps
of your father, the great Patron Brendan Uyo Matthew Akpan Usoro.' As you go through life, do so “With malice
toward none: with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right …”. Strive to toe the line
your father had charted for you, with his emphasis on living the family spirit in unity and love, reaching out to your
siblings in education as your father did, and with wise counsel and investments. Respect each other as much as you can,
and you will make his memory evergreen in your minds, and you will find, success and happiness and peace for
yourselves! Fare thee well, Great Man, for Him whom you loved and taught your family to love and serve, has called
you to your eternal rest.Adieu, and Rest in Peace, eternally with Him, in Heaven,Amen!

Though with sadness, but with gratitude to Almighty, we received news
of the death of your beloved father and patriarch of your family, Hon.
Chief Brendan Akpan Usoro.
On behalf of ourselves and the entire member of The Planning
Committee, write to express our deepest condolences to you and
indeed members of Akpan Usoro Dynasty in this your present State of
bereavement.
It is clear that the life of Chief was an accomplished trader, a
representative of his people in the Abak County Council in the then
Cross River State. He was an humane person, peaceful and loving
father, a devout Christian and God fearing man who brought up his
children uprightly as shown in the very disciplined and responsible
character exhibited by you and your siblings.
No doubt, we will all surely miss this great man. However, we take
consolation in the fact that he lived a good and fulfilled life; he lived long,
surely he would be resting in the bosom of the Almighty.
We pray that the good Lord will grant you and members of your family
the courage and fortitude to bear this great loss as well as provide the
fatherly guidance required by the family.
