Overview of the Highly Immersive Programme [HIP]
WHAT IS THE HIGHLY IMMERSIVE PROGRAMME (HIP)?
The Highly Immersive Programme (HIP) is a programme introduced under the MBMMBI
policy that will improve the English proficiency of students through increased exposure in schools. It is a reinforcement of the 1999 MOE circular which states that all schools should organize English Language support activities for students to increase their exposure to the language by implementing *English enrichment activities in and out of class. It also aims to inculcate positive behaviour towards the learning and usage of the English language. HIP is aligned with students aspirations highlighted in the Malaysia Education Blueprint (MEB)
2013 - 2025 and supports five shifts of the MEB, as follows : -

Principals play a crucial role and they act as the “Anchor”, leading the school in creating an English environment, motivating teachers and students, and actively involv- ing parents and the community.
Teachers should support the Principal in creating a bi-lingual rich environment by adopting effective teaching and learning, proactively implement activities that uses English, develop tools and aids, and organise school events.
All teachers, and not just the English teachers, are very much encouraged to use English in their out-of-class activities. Teachers will also implement project-based learning and encourage their students to conduct research on the internet, in which the content will be in English.

Learning English through Fun Activities such as Role Playing, Language Games, Quizzes, Reward Systems; Merit and Demerit.
OUT-OF- CLASS
Thursday as English Day
Thursday is an English Day whereby it is compulsory to use English during the morning short assembly, prayer & announcements.
Official Assembly in English during the launching Ceremony of HIP
Official assembly will be conducted in English Language. The emcee, the recitation of prayer, the report of the teacher on duty, Principal’s speech and announcements need to be made in English.
Creative Performa*nce in English such as English Drama Choral Speaking & Singing. Scrabble Challenge, Language Games and Explorace
To encourage pupils to practice speaking in English as well as to develop their self confidence to speak English in front of the crowd.
To encourage pupils to learn English in a fun way

To build up pupils’ self-esteem in Public speaking

I. Participating in SEA FORENSIC TOURNAMENT
II. Field Trip to The International School of Kuala Lumpur
Selected pupils represent the school in various competition such as duet acting, oral interpretation and oral oratory meanwhile some other pupils join the field trip as audience to watch the competition and expose them to English Medium School setting.
Outreach Alumni & Parents Mentoring Program
A group of former students who excel in English Language give their helping hand and act as mentor, facilitator and coach in various English Panel Programme not only academic but also co academic.
HIP National Pen Pal Project
Making friends with pupils from other schools by sending letters in collaboration with selected schools as follows:
 SMK Perempuan Likas, Kota Kinabalu Sabah.
 SMK Sri Aman, Sarawak
 Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi, Gombak
 SM Sains Sembrong, Johor
 SMK Kedawang, Langkawi
 SMK Padang Saujana, Jerantut, Pahang.
