enough to warrant treatment. For example, many parents fear the psychological effects of a visible scar in their

Pain Management

Some oral pain medications have serious side effects. For example, morphine sulfate, oxycodone (Percocet), and hydrocodone (Vicodin) can cause
drowsiness, altered state of mind, and constipation. For this reason, they are not ideal for some patients including the elderly and anyone
operating heavy machinery. They are also highly addictive medications. Oral Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAID) like ibuprofen
(Motrin®) or naproxen (Aleve®) can cause stomach ulcers and increase risk of stroke and heart attack. Compounding offers an alternative to these
widely prescribed medications: transdermal pain management. Transdermal—through the skin—drug delivery is a great option to avoid the side
effects of oral medications.
