This year’s MDRT event, themed Celebrating MDRT! took place in EQ Hotel,
one of Kuala Lumpur’s top rated hotel. This jubilant venue complimented
with a revelry of fine wine and a luscious Chinese set banquet dinner was
host to Tokio Marine Life’s first ever hybrid physical and virtual event.

2020 Celebrating MDRT! is a one-of-a kind event combining a life
insurance sales meeting and embracing excellence with style –
a fitting event setting exclusively for MDRT members of Tokio
Marine Life. This event celebrates the success of MDRT recipients
for being among the best in the life insurance industry.

The graceful event kick-started with an opening speech by Deputy
Chief Executive Office (DCEO) of Tokio Marine Life, Mr Yoshiaki
Okabe, who shared his heartfelt congratulations to the MDRTs
on their remarkable achievements. He also emphasised on the
importance of persistence and consistency to continue achieving
MDRT, and further grow a more promising career in the years to
come. The event also welcomed the 2020 MDRT Aspirants Rolex
watch benchmark qualifiers as guests to the exclusive event.

Each achiever had their moment of recognition as they took centre stage
to accept their award from Mr Yoshiaki Okabe and Chief Agency Officer
(CAO), Mr Liew Kim Wah. The night witnessed the IWC watch presentation
to all 32 qualifiers of the 2019 MDRT Aspirants Contest. A specially designed
photobook was presented to the Guest of honour and all 40 members of the
2020 MDRT.

The Celebrating MDRT! event also took the opportunity to showcase the
TMPRO -4U Lucky Draw Challenge winners. Mr Liew Kim Wah took the
stage to update on the agency performance for the 1st half of 2020, and
subsequently launched the Go Travel Challenge (Nha Trang) to the agency
force.

Potential Unit Manager Updates

By Chua San Kuang, Head, TMC/TMP

Covid-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) with its subsequent extensions did not deter or delay the implementation
of the planned three TMC and TMP intakes in year 2020. All batches, TMC 13 to 15 and 2020 TMP, were arranged as scheduled.

I. Interviews:
Interviews of TMC13 applicants were conducted in persons and later batches via video-conferencing.

II. Pre-entry Training & Follow-up-Follow-through (FUFT) sessions:
All pre-entry residential trainings were replaced with video-conferencing training.
Follow-up & Follow-through (FUFT) sessions were also conducted via video-conferencing.
Training through video-conferencing has indeed became one of TMC’s ‘New Normal’s!

TMC14 learning via video-conferencing, a new learning experience for all TMC members …

III. Commencements
The first of TMC batches in year 2020, TMC13, started immediately on 1st April after the Movement Control Order (MCO) was
announced in March with a total of 52 agents successfully enrolled.

TMC batches 14 and 15 followed and commenced on 1st July and 1st November, 2020 respectively with 40 and 60 participants.
Total participants for TMC intake for year 2020 was 156 with TMC 15 finalized at 64 in December. There were 20 participants in
2020 TMP.

IV. Support
In addition to the numerous nationwide measures taken to mitigate the challenges faced by our agents and customers as
consequences of the pandemic, several initiatives were also introduced to assist TMC and TMP participants in the initial MCO
period. These initiatives included the revised monthly allowances qualification, TMC13 Kick Start Challenge and inclusion of
Cancer Shield Plus as a TMC product for premium and case count.

Performance summary of 2020 TMC agents as at 30 November, 2020:

TRAINING

by Heidi Chong, TMTDA

The Advancement in Managing Sales (AIMS) programme has
made it a mission to provide the best ideas from the best minds
in the profession to help attain new levels of success in your business
as a MDRT. Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association
of Financial Professionals®, is a global, independent association. MDRT is
recognized internationally as the standard of excellence in the life insurance and
financial services business. (This year’s MDRT qualification revised to RM333, 600)

This year, the AIMS programme brought its training experience to a virtual

space with the “2020 AIMS Virtual Event Series” held in June,

September and November 2020. Each session was a month-

long series of inspiration, motivation and education for MDRT

Aspirants to learn to be more effective at finding solutions for

their clients which in turn will grow their careers to achieve

greater success, revolutionise their selling approach

and become MDRT achievers. It was an opportunity to

connect with speakers with vast knowledge to share on

topics that are important to the MDRT Aspirants. The Building a
series of sessions featured an impressive selection
of content from three (3) inspiring speakers.

The 1st session was presented on 16 June 2020 Successful
by Ms Goon Mei Lean, a 12x MDRT with the topic Business
“Thrive during Covid-19”. She shared three (3) as a
important ideas, “Have a right mind-set”, “Maintain
a level of activity different from the normal activity” MDRT
and “Personal development and training”.

The 2nd speaker, Mr Ee Kah Tiek, a 3x MDRT
shared on “Discover Unlimited Closing Potential
through Needs Based Selling” on 25 Sept 2020.
Asking questions is the heart of Needs Based
Selling as it is the only way to uncover the

customer’s needs. Every worthwhile relationship
and successful new business comes down to the
ability to ask questions - by asking questions you’ll

be able to understand the customer’s situation and
how you can help them.

Hanzo Ng, the 3rd speaker, the Sales Ninja
Grandmaster shared his topic on the “Final Sprint!
Make it Happen and End Strong” on 10 November
2020. The attitude of a MDRT Aspirant can be one
of many reasons that makes or breaks a sale. Five (5)
ideas that instigated to help boost the MDRT Aspirants’
motivation momentum were “Go through challenges & stay
focused”, “Stay positive, never give up and keep trying”, “Do
whatever it takes to make it happen”, “Be client centric” and “Be a
team player to end strong”.

MDRT Aspirants gathered to learn cutting-edge insights from the speakers and gained a
great amount of invaluable inspiration to propel their careers forward as MDRTs. They
were able to use the knowledge they garnered immediately to build and boost their
business.

Finish Strong! Greatness awaits at the Finish Line.
