C E O Dear agency members,
What a remarkable six months it has been! In May, we witnessed the Agency
ME SSAGE Awards Presentation Dinner at Genting Highlands, a pinnacle of Tokio
Marine Life’s agency force. It was a massive turnout with over 1,000 people
celebrating the success of our top producers. I am thrilled to see a number
of record breakers namely, Mr. Malai - four-time Champion Agency Manager;
Ms. Cheng Kwee Lan - hat-trick Champion Unit Manager and Ms. Saw Bee Eng
- first Top of the Table member, simultaneously achieving double-champion
Sales Agent and Rookie. We had three agency groups which won the Mega
Agency award – Asia Ace, EPTS Mansion and Jessy Chen Agency; and 29 life
advisors who qualified as MDRT members in 2019. Congratulations on your
success and hard work.
I am expecting our very first Grand Mega Agency, 5 Mega Agencies achievers
and a new record of total 40 MDRT qualifiers to complete the success for 2019.
Tokio Marine Life believes in a long term partnership with our agency force,
by developing innovative and consumer-centric life insurance products and
promoting the usage of T-Marine Pro to improve agency members’ productivity.
I must continue to emphasize that 2019 will be a transformation year for Tokio
Marine Life Agency. Our recruitment programs are getting very encouraging
results from the “Build2Grow3.0” Campaign. We have set our sights of achieving
5,000 total agency members with a production RM200 million AFYP in year
2020. Our “Mission 5000” will be a reality and I ask our agency members to
be resilient, uphold the sense of professionalism and reach for greater heights.
CEO By leveraging the power of digital transformation and “Hokenbito” culture, I
believe that Tokio Marine Life can move forward from strength to strength
Tokio Marine Life Malaysia Bhd. towards the goal of becoming top five life insurers in Malaysia. Let’s work
together to make 2019 another remarkable and productive year!

DCEO 暑中お見舞い申し上げます。(Summer Greetings to you! )
MESSAGE Since life insurance sales is not an easy job, awards and recognition becomes
an important driver for success. The Agency Awards Presentation (AAP) is to
honour the significant achievement of our agency leaders and agents who have
made outstanding performance over the year. We at TMLM try our very best to
recognise our achievers in the most sophisticated way every year.
This year, we have invited four colleagues from Tokio Marine Group in Asia to our
AAP 2019. They were from Tokio Marine Asia, the regional office in Singapore
and Tokio Marine Life Insurance Indonesia respectively. The objective of inviting
them to our AAP was to enhance the group’s synergy through best practice
sharing. I was confident that our AAP would give some ideas to our friends, as
our AAP creates excitement jointly with TMLM staff, agency leaders and agents.
We could show them the strong sense of the family bonding among each other
within the agency group as well as within TMLM. It is what I am most proud with
the best army of Tokio Marine Group in Asia.
My favourite moment is to see awardees celebrate joyfully amongst all the
agency members by cheering and ushering the awardee walk in on the red
carpet and the agency leader proudly recognising the achievement and growth
of their agents. This is the culture I love in TMLM. Over the years here, I realised
that we have many good and potential agency leaders and agents in TMLM.
As an organisation, we have continuously focused on recruitment that comes
along with talent development of young agents for their future career pathways.
The work is hard, no doubt but after a few years of struggling and commitment
by agency leaders and the Company, we have produced many passionate and
committed young agents who are keen to grow with us.
DCEO Though we are still working hard towards the goal, I can be more optimistic that
we can achieve it in the near future, as long as we continue our efforts with
TOKIO MARINE LIFE MALAYSIA BHD. Kaizen improvement mind.
YOSHIAKI OKABE 岡部 養明 Let’s strive ahead together, grow together and “To be a Good Company” for the
society.
C AO In the first half year of 2019, we have achieved RM62.7 million APE and 627
new recruitments, which is a 29% growth in APE and 67% growth in recruitment
ME SSAGE versus same period last year. We are one step closer to our KPIs and I would
like to thank to all who have contributed towards this amazing achievement. A
timely reminder though, we have to ensure that the minimum total manpower of
5,000 and RM200 million in APE are to be achieved before year 2020 ends. As the
saying goes: “Aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
So, let us keep the momentum going!
Congratulations to Mr. S. Malaiyarasan and Asia Ace for leading the triumph by
achieving 4-Star Agency in first half of the year. With your determination and
passions, I am confident that Asia Ace will strive towards the RM10 million for
Grand Mega Agency goal in 2019. We would also like to congratulate all Star
achievers, ie 15 Star Agencies, 7 Star Units and 25 Star Agents. Do move forward
to achieve more Stars award by end of the year.
TMLM is proud to welcome the first MDRT in Year 2019, Jessy Chen Agency Sdn
Bhd. In qualifying for the MDRT membership, Ms. Jessy Chen has also won herself
an IWC designer watch. Congratulations on your well-deserved achievement
and best wishes for your next adventure to COT & TOT. We also extend our
heartiest congratulations to 50 Super Early Bird and Early Bird qualifiers of the
MDRT Contest, you will be the IWC watch owner when you qualify for MDRT by
end of year 2019.
CAO Moving forward, four Group companies from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and
Indonesia kicked start the Tokio Marine Challenge Cup (TMCC) for the fifth
TOKIO MARINE LIFE MALAYSIA BHD. consecutive year on 2nd July 2019. We won 2 out of 5 categories last year and
certainly aim at sustaining the excellent performance this year or even better.
LIEW KIM WAH Our AFYP submission for first week recorded a growth of 24% versus last year
to RM4.7 million, driven by strong sales of TM-iBig and TM-iLife Secure. A great
start for us, indeed.
Last but not least, 3rd quarter ends with the closing of 2019 Agency Main Tour
Contest. With the great momentum built up in 2nd quarter, I am sure many will
go the extra mile to qualify for the tour to Croatia and Hungary, two attractive
East European countries which nobody wants to miss. See you in Zagreb and
Budapest!

2019 AGENCY TOUR
Venice15–22MAY2019 &
by Cynthia Chong
This year, we had a total of 100 participants taking off to two of the most iconic
cities of Italy – Venice & Milan. Well known as the “City of Water” and “City of
Fashion” respectively, each of these cities boasts its own uniqueness in their
heritage, architecture and culture.
All the activities and places of visit that we had planned for our participants
during the trip depict the culture and originality from the respective Regions
– We took the gondola ride in Venice; Visited the Parmesan Cheese Factory,
Balsamic Vinegar Factory and Ferrari Museum in Modena; Boat ride at Lake
Como showcasing the popular retreat place of the rich & famous; and the
rickshaw ride touring around the Milan City.
Our highlight for this trip was the Get-Together Dinner which was held at Just
Cavalli Milano – one of Milan’s Fine Dining Hotspot. This glamorous gourmet
restaurant and nightclub belongs to Roberto Cavalli, one of the famous Italian
designers. As per our yearly practice, we’d usually recognise all our New
Agents and First Time Tour Qualifiers who were present there. This year, we
had a special highlight recognising those Tour Qualifiers who had qualified
consecutively for 19 years. There were 9 of them whom we’re proud to
recognise. Congratulations to all of them, and we certainly hope that they’d
continue to qualify for more tours in the coming years!

Santorini
EXTENSION TOUR
21 May – 24 May 2019
by Cynthia Chong
After the Venice/Milan Main Tour, our extension tour qualifiers continued on
the journey to one of the most beautiful & picturesque islands off Greece
– Santorini.
In our itinerary, we ensured that our participants got the opportunity to
enjoy all the beautiful sceneries around the island. These places include
the Fira Town, Red Beach, Black Beach, and the highest point in Santorini
– known as Moni Profiti Ilia, to name a few.
Also, not to be missed was the Oia Town, a place that is famous for its
whitewashed buildings and blue domed churches, that were carved & built
into rugged clifftops. Being the most famous village in Santorini, this place
is indeed beautiful, particularly during sunset, like how it’s being featured
in postcards.
The main highlight of this tour was the activity where we had chartered a
boat solely for TMLM’s participants. This private boat brought us island
hopping along the caldera of Santorini. Islands that we had visited include
Thirasia and Nea Kameni – an attraction for volcano hiking and healing
hot spring, which some of our participants enjoyed very much. Another
good experience from this boat ride was that, we got to enjoy the view of
Santorini’s various towns from the sea. This 4 days tour had our participants
fully enjoyed a rather relaxing trip and the beauty of the island.

T-Marine P.U.M.P
Another leadership development program, T-Marine P.U.M.P (TMP, where P.U.M.P. are abbreviations for Potential Unit
Managers Program) was introduced in year 2018. TMP differs from TMC in that it is open to agents who have done
personal sales for at least two years and aspire to be promoted to Unit Manager in the following year.
TMP trainings focus on guiding the participants on fulfilling the promotion requirements for Unit Manager. The
participants will therefore acquire necessary knowledge and skills on recruitment and passing the BAMC examination
in addition to doing enough personal production and persistency to meet the requirements by the end of the 12-month
program.
TMP 2018 completed with 10 participants successfully fulfilling the promotion requirements for Unit Manager. Nine
were promoted in 2019 and one opted for promotion in 2020.
