CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN
TACTICAL LEADERSHIP
Today’s SWAT leaders are faced with a high level of public
scrutiny, decreasing participation, and struggle with balancing the
increasing training demands of a highly technical law
enforcement sub-specialty, while simultaneously seeing
decreasing training budgets and hours. This seminar will provide
an overview of NTOA recommended training requirements as
outlined in the 2015 NTOA SWAT Standard, suggested training
management plans and an overview of the NTOA Command
College as a means to address these challenges.

ENHANCING USE OF FORCE
Few topics in law enforcement cause more public scrutiny than police use of
force. As a tactical officer, the scrutiny can be even more intense. This
nationally acclaimed course provides tactical operators with tools to make
reasonable use of force decisions, while simultaneously increasing their
safety. Through guided discussion, video analysis, and case studies,
participants will explore: Current Use of Force Trends, Human Performance
Factors Affecting Decision Making Under Stress, Methods of Countering The
“Culture of Speed”, Enhanced Situational Awareness (Behavioral Threat
Analysis), and Preparing for the Aftermath of Use of Force. With the intense
scrutiny on use of force decision making, this could be one of the most
important courses you attend all year.
