To express to future career opportunities in certain professional and industry. 2.2 COMPANY BACKGROUND 2.2.1 Company Business Framework and Philosophies Oriental Art Printing Enterprise Sdn Bhd has been providing a full service offset printing company in Johor, Malaysia since 1995. They have strong roots that have been built in Sri Gading, Batu Pahat. Oriental Art Printing has become a complete resource for all your business communication needs and is always at the forefront of technology. They understand that investing in technology can actually save money by increasing efficiency by using modern technology in the production of quality printing. Oriental Art Printing has also had the privilege of associating with renowned glove manufacturers with exceptional products. They are Top Glove Corporation Bhd, Purnabina Sdn Bhd, Terang Nusa (M) Sdn Bhd, N.S. Uni-Gloves Sdn Bhd and UG Global Resources Sdn Bhd. Currently, Oriental Art Printing has prepared 80,000 pieces of glove boxes per day and it is estimated that about 50,000 pieces of boxes can be produced as well based on the remaining capacity. In addition, they have also been awarded Quality Management System certification (ISO 9001:2015) from 2018 and Certification FSC (C170383) from 2021.

4 | P a g e 2.2.2 Quality and Safety Quality : Oriental Art Printing has achieved awarded Quality Management System certification (ISO 9001:2015) from 2018 which is an internationally recognized quality management standard. This certification demonstrates the company's commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in its products and processes. Oriental Art Printing also have quality control teams. The company has established dedicated quality control teams at each stage of the manufacturing process. These teams are responsible for inspecting products, identifying defects, and ensuring that all products meet the specified quality standards before they are shipped to customers. Safety : All employees at Oriental Art Printing will receive thorough safety training when they join the company, and they undergo regular refresher courses. This training covers topics such as workplace hazards, proper handling of equipment, and emergency procedures. Other than that, all employers at Oriental Art Printing also have registered for SOCSO (Social Security Organisation) which is Emergency Response Plan. The Company has a comprehensive emergency response plan in place which is includes evacuation procedures, first aid stations, and communication protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of employees in the event of an emergency. 2.2.3 Company Products Oriental Art Printing have upgrade from 1 colour printing to 5 colour printing. 7 | P a g e 2.2.5 Operation Flow In the process of producing products at Oriental Art Printing, they have used a systematic operation flow to produce a quality product. Their product production process includes Artwork design, CTP (Computer to plate), Printing, Finishing, QC (Quality Control) and Transport Delivery. Artwork Design After they are receiving order from the customer, they start the process by making artwork design based on the need and requirement from the customer. The artwork will be produced by the graphic designers and they are will discussed with the teams to ensure that the quality of the design gets satisfaction from the customer. After the discussion with choose the best of artwork, they will send that artwork to the customer to get feedback for proceed to the next step. CTP (Computer to Plat) CTP is a prepress technology that involves the direct transfer of digital printing data from a computer or digital device to a printing plate. In traditional offset printing, the process involves creating film negatives or positives of the printing job, which are then used to expose photosensitive printing plates. CTP eliminates the need for this intermediate film step. 1. Design and Layout: Graphic designers create the artwork and layout using computer software. 2. Digital File Preparation: The digital design files are prepared for printing, including colour separation and imposition (arrangement of pages on the printing plate). 3. Exposing Plates: CTP devices use lasers or thermal imaging technology to directly expose the printing plates with the image data. The plate material is typically aluminium or polyester coated with a light-sensitive emulsion. 4. Plate Development: After exposure, the plates are processed to remove the non-image areas, leaving behind the image that will be printed. 5. Mounting Plates: The printing plates are mounted onto the printing press, where they transfer ink to the printing surface (usually a rubber blanket cylinder) and then onto the paper or other substrate. Oriental Art Printing are equipped with CTP machine to provide the faster service, the plate can be printed immediately within an hour with the best quality of finishing.
8 | P a g e Printing After CTP process, there is will be printing process. In this process have a different method or set of methods used to reproduce text and images on various surfaces, typically paper or other substrates. There are several different printing processes, each with its own unique characteristics and applications. Most common printing processes is Offset Printing (Lithography), Digital Printing, Screen Printing (Silkscreen), Flexography, Gravure Printing, Letterpress Printing, and Inkjet printing. Each of these printing processes has its own advantages and is suitable for different applications. The choice of printing process depends on factors such as the type of material being printed, the required print quality, the quantity of prints, and cost considerations. Finishing Finishing techniques in the printing industry are applied after the printing process to enhance the appearance, durability, and functionality of printed materials. Different finishing methods can be used to achieve specific effects or to protect the printed materials. For Example, Lamination, UV Coating, Die-cutting, Binding, Scoring and Folding, and Gluing. These finishing techniques can be used individually or in combination to achieve specific design and functional goals for printed materials. The choice of finishing depends on the intended purpose, design requirements, and budget. QC (Quality Control) Quality control in printing is a crucial process that ensures the printed materials meet specified standards for accuracy, consistency, and overall quality. The goal of quality control in printing is to identify and rectify any defects or issues that may affect the final printed product. The key aspects of quality control in the printing industry is Prepress Quality Control which is check for correct colour profiles, resolution, and file format compatibility, Colour Management, Proofing which is to verify that text, images, and graphics are correctly positioned, sized, and aligned. Other than that, Print Quality, Finishing Quality, Quantity Verification, Packaging and Shipping Quality, Client Approval by providing samples or proofs for review. Moreover, Documentation which is to maintain detailed records of the quality control process, including any adjustments made during printing and Continuous Improvement which is the regularly assess and improve the printing process to reduce defects and enhance overall quality. Quality control is an ongoing process throughout the various stages of printing, from prepress to post-press finishing. It requires skilled personnel, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality printed materials that meet or exceed client expectations.
9 | P a g e Transport Delivery The logistics and distribution process involved in delivering printed materials to their intended destination. It encompasses the planning, coordination, and execution of the physical transportation of printed products from the printing facility to the final recipient. Oriental Art Printing have planned the logistics of transporting printed materials efficiently and costeffectively. the most important things are using the proper packaging to protect printed materials during transit. Materials should be packaged securely to prevent damage, moisture, or any other potential hazards. 2.2.6 Company Environment Oriental Art Printing has a comfortable and organized work area that provides a conducive work environment. The meeting room that has been prepared makes it easy for all employees to hold meetings comfortably. In addition, a clean office can also provide a good mood while working. 11 | P a g e 3.0 Description of the Internship During the 3 months of internship, I am honoured to be entrusted with all the projects with guidance of senior designers. During my internship, our job scope is to design the artwork on Photoshop or Illustrator to do all the artwork with guide from others designers to fulfil all the requirement or the quality on the artwork before proceed to the next step of production. The senior designers have guide in term of the sizes of the layout, quality of picture to use on the layout, type of file that use for printing and features that required to use to get the maximal quality from that artwork. Other than that, every task that have been given should be done 2 days and the supervisor will check all the progress to make sure the artwork is on the right format and concept. After done the artwork, the supervisor will send to the boss and clients to get the feedback about the artwork for the improvements. I have got the task from the company which is Oriental Art Printing and also some clients from that company such as Pustaka Muadzam Shah, Budi Kemuncak, SJK (C) Pai Tze, SMK Tun Tuah, dan Acca Jazlina Enterprise. 3.1 Project Overview The project that I have complete thought out my internship are as listed below : Existing Project : Project 1 : Persatuan Tiong Hua Batu Pahat (Redesign Poster for New Year) New Project : Project 1 : Pustaka Muadzam Shah (Redesign for Name Card/ Business Card) Project 2 : Budi Kemuncak (Company Logo and Activity Book cover) Internal Project : Project 1 : Oriental Art Printing (Redesign of Company Product for commercial) Project 2 : Oriental Art Printing (Company Catalogue)
12 | P a g e EXISTING PROJECT / CLIENT 3.1.1.1 Project 1 • Company : Persatuan Tiong Hua Batu Pahat (Organization) • Brief : Persatuan Tiong Hua Batu Pahat is one of the NGO (Non- Government Organization) at Batu Pahat. For this task I have to recreate their New Year Poster followed by the existing one that have provided and redesign the layout for the poster depends on their satisfaction. I have to create the exactly artwork by referred on the existing poster and apply on their new poster. • Design Language / Statement : - Formal Form, informative and attractive • Target Market : - Organization purposes • Challenges : - The challenges for this project are to create the design with satisfaction from the client. I have to find exactly features and design from the existing poster also to create the layout in the same of quality. The colour and design on the existing poster must be exactly same for a new poster. Other than that, I should to make sure that the arrangement also position for each artwork must exactly into the existing one. Beside that I have to make sure the sizing for every artwork is suitable to apply on the layout.

14 | P a g e NEW PROJECT / CLIENT 3.1.2.1 Project 1 • Company : Pustaka Muadzam Shah Sdn. Bhd • Brief : Pustaka Muadzam Shah Sdn. Bhd. is one of the companies that sells books and stationery in Pahang. They also have several branches in Rompin and Mersing. Task 3 is related to redesigning the name card for this company. I need to present some designs to be chosen by the customer. • Design Language / Statement : - User Friendly (Easy to refer), Informative, Suitable concept for Book Store • Target Market : - Company purposes • Challenges : - The challenges for this project are to create the design with satisfaction from the company. To find the references name card design that have suitable for book store company concept and that design also should be fulfil by the customers needed. 16 | P a g e 3.1.2.2 Project 2 • Company : Budi Kemuncak (Company Logo and Activity Book cover) • Brief : Budi Kemuncak Sdn. Bhd is one of the new book producers in Johor. For this project 4 I need to design a logo for their branding and produce cover books for activity books such as English activity books for years 4, 5 and 6. • Design Language / Statement : - Suitable concept for logo, attractive design for cover book and informative. • Target Market : - School, Student for Years 4, 5 and 6 • Challenges : - The challenges for this project are to create the design with satisfaction from the company. To create the logo design for their company which is this logo will use for their commercial and use for their branding. So, I should to make sure that the logo is suitable with book branding and their brand name concept. Other than that, to find the references cover book design with all the information about the book and all the design should be fulfil by the customers needed. Their printing involves a lot of booklets that are related to school, and all of that is more about custom made designs. This project 1 task aims to increase their commercial value in the printing industry. Therefore, I need to redesign their product images more appropriately to display them on their website. • Design Language / Statement : - Minimal Design, Formal Form and Commercial Purpoeses • Target Market : - School, Manufacturing Company (Packaging /Business Commercial Stuff) • Challenges : - The challenges for this project are to create the design with satisfaction from the company. To find the references and colour that suitable to applied on the layout and make a new design which can attract the viewers on company’s website or media social because this project will help company on commercial purposes.

21 | P a g e 3.1.3.2 Project 2 • Company : Oriental Art Printing • Brief : Before this Oriental Art Printing Enterprise did not have a proper list or catalogue that could be shown to customers when they are want to order or custom their product. The purpose of this task is to design catalogue which consist all the variant of products that they have in their companies for printing service. Therefore, for this task 2, I need to design a catalogue for the company and use it in 2 the way that is online and physical form (Print form). • Design Language / Statement : - User Friendly (Easy to refer), Informative, Interesting colour • Target Market : - School, Manufacturing Company (Packaging /Business Commercial Stuff) • Challenges : - The challenges for this project are to create the design with satisfaction from the company. To find the references and all the information about the product such as type of material, size, and colour. Other than that, to find all the picture that suitable to applied on the layout. To make sure that the quality of the picture in high quality because that is can effect when the artwork will print out.

23 | P a g e 4.0 Reflection on the Internship The 3 months of internships was a good experience for me to get exposure the industry was working and from this internship also I can get some knowledge that I have not get from class especially about printing industry. During in study, I have learned for 3D project more than 2D project, that is some of the challenges that I have faced on because should to recap all the features on the software such as Photoshop and also Illustrator. I have learned also about the type of file that suitable and required for printing service. From this internship can enhance my skill in term of time management, communication and always be prepared for every task from company. During my internship, I can explore and learned also the industry was working and the manufacturing process for the production of the product on factory. On this internship also, I can enhance my skills which is to use the features or tools on the software such as photoshop and illustrator to do the artwork. Besides, during this internship I can get more knowledge about the process and the work flow to produce the product. The quality of the artwork must be in maximum and high quality to get the best finishing. From this experience I can applied on my study to design the poster and panel board for presentation. Communication also is one of the things that I have learned on this internship. Communication is important for me to get information and the work flow for every task that have been given also to make sure all the information from the clients is clear to fulfil their needs. The supervisor and senior designers also give guide such as the suitable sizing, quality of picture and arrangement of caption or detail on the layout also colour to apply on the layout suitable with the concept of product. Therefore, communication with others staff on the company is important to get the right information about the project. Time management also the important things during my internship experience. Time managements in term of attendance and the duration submitted the artwork to clients to get their feedback. For the attendance, I have to come to work 15-10 minutes earlier to prepared all the stuff and the software also check the list of tasks. In term of schedule for project for clients, I have to manage my time to make sure that all the work progress in the right ways to get the best artwork to showed at the clients and others teams to proceed next process. Therefore, from internship experience I have learned to manage the time more properly because of the operations on manufacturing process in the factory always running with a wide range of production that can take more time consumer to finish each product.
24 | P a g e 5.0 Conclusion In conclusion, 3 month on internship give an experience the industry was working on the process of manufacturing product from the first step to finishing of the product. In printing industry, there is have type of material, the different of process for each material printing, and also finishing depends on the product and material. The important things on printing industry is cannot have any error in term of colour, caption, and details on the artwork because printing on this company have a wide range of production which is 1000 above for each product. If have any of error on the artwork it will be affect all the process on production. The best quality of printing also is important to make sure the clients have satisfied with the service from this company. All the staff on each department will always follow up for each product to make sure that the order from clients is done in the right time. This experience can enhance the knowledge of work on the systematic form which is all the process on production running well with the right timing. Satisfaction from the clients will make the company are more relevant on wide range of printing service industry. Therefore, time management and quality of the product are important to still relevant and gain trusted from each client. This internship program can give an experienced on communication with client and teams on that department to gain more knowledge to produce and design the best artwork such as for advertising, poster, packaging, booklet, flyer and also name card. This is because, all of this product must have a details and information to put on the product layout. To get all the information, must to communicate with all the teams and discuss about the details that can apply on the product. Therefore, communication, time management, and quality of work is the important things for all the process of manufacturing product.
