Tete a Tete With Doyens of S PS

The 15th edition of Oyster aims to drive conversations with such mentors and leaders that can help with-

defining a New Era. The Editorial Board presents before you excerpts from the insights shared by the

leaders of SPS, the conversation revolving around the challenges faced and the learnings from the crisis,

among other things.

The year 2020 has been one of the toughest periods ever in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic

which has grappled the world for over a year now. The live discussions spread over 10 days are available

for everyone to see.

Here are a few updates from the interview of the editorial board members, Anakta Prabhu, XI Humanities,

and Arnav Jain, XI Commerce with the Chairman of Sagar Group, Shri Sudhir Kumar Agrawal.

Sir, this year has been a rather unusual one. As someone helming a group as big as Sagar,

what are your reflections?

Given all the difficulties, we, like the people of India kept going on. l consider us blessed as India has

done exceptionally well in minimizing the damage with a far lower mortality rate and a relatively higher

recovery rate.

What were your contributions under CSR?

This year was an eye-opener that laid bare the need for encouraging the mobilization of our efforts –

individual and social– at the scale that our challenges demand. We were, as always, actively involved

in food distribution programmes as well as contributions in terms of donations throughout the

lockdown.

Any lessons you want to hold on to?

We should give our lives meaning, by honouring the sacredness of life.

All living things, humans and animals, should be treated with the respect, sensitivity and care that

they deserve.

What is your message to the Sagarites?

The Covid-19 made us appreciate our most essential needs and our highest values. Let us remember

these life lessons. Read, learn, grow and evolve. Stay physically healthy and emotionally strong and

think and act for the betterment of the country. My message to all the Sagarites is, “Put service

before self.”

Candid answers from Chairman Sir left the student members of the Editorial Board in

awe of his persona and indebted to Sir for his time and efforts.

May we rise to this epic responsibility in this historically important time and may we –

the youth – make fruitful contributions to this end. Scan to view

In continuation with the series of live discussions held with the dignitaries of SPS, we had the Heads of SPS
schools- Ms. Alpa Prabhu, Dr. Madhubala Chauhan and Ms. Pankaj Sharma in conversation with
Shri M. G.Paranjape, Advisor, SPS schools at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar, Indore.
Edited excerpts from the session are presented here for the readers.

We take up the teaching-learning process in the best possible manner, catering to all possible
needs of the students, however, the students do not reciprocate in the same manner and the
learning outcomes are not as expected.
There are some active learners who at all times can learn through any mode but the rest need personal
attention and physical participation. Technology has helped during this testing time and at least 50 –
60% of the students are benefitting but surely not 100% and thus our expectations are not met. Imagine
if this would have happened some 10 –15 years ago, the gap would have been much bigger.
With changing times, we have changed but our expectations from students have not changed.
What is your advice?
Online is an alternative approach and cannot match with the learning at school and so our expectations
should be accordingly. We can try 100% but 100%success is not possible due to a heterogeneous
society. Our efforts should be 100%. Equal opportunity should be offered to all. Equal outcomes should
not be expected from each child as they have individual differences. However, there need to be
concerted efforts to go beyond replicating the physical classroom and promote intelligence, inclusivity,
and personalization.
What are your views on NEP? How much of it should we incorporate into our curriculum?
Thinkers and planners have given their suggestions and we await the guidelines. Adopt the good
practices and adapt to changes, gradually.
How did the Pandemic affect you personally?
Change is the one thing that impacts your life dramatically. I too, like the rest of us have survived the tide
by learning to adjust and adapt, which is a natural organic process.
How do you envisage the role of teachers as leaders?
Help Ever, Hurt Never- needs to be our motto.
Children have impressionable minds and they eulogize their teachers as role models. The leader along
with her team must live up to the expectations by being fair, open, broad-minded and empathetic. Our
focus should always be on the physical, mental & moral development of students.
What is your message for the readers?
I am happy to learn that Sagar Public School, Gandhi Nagar, is bringing out its annual magazine,
chronicling all the events organized in the school in this unusual year. More importantly, it is, as always,
giving a platform to all Sagarites to showcase their creativity.
I am sure the readers would understand and appreciate all that the school did in this difficult session. I
wish all the best to all the students and all their mentors.

04

We are certainly at an entirely different juncture today and globally the world has seen unexplainable
challenges since the last time we asked Shri B.K Nigam, Advisor to SPS schools for his message for the
school magazine.
Edited excerpts from his interaction with Sagarites of Class XII, Gavish Lohat, XII Humanities and Izhan
Husain, XII Science are presented here.

2020 has been a rather strange year, almost like a roller coaster ride with the Pandemic and the
NEP, what do you think has been the impact of all these changes?
The pandemic and the NEP, both had a huge impact on the education sector and online teaching
became the need of the hour. Even though it can't be considered the best mode of teaching because
of many reasons, especially the digital divide in our country, nevertheless, it was necessary.
The pandemic forced us to make a paradigm shift in the mode of education. Do you think this
change was necessary? Would it not be better to declare it a zero year?
My dear students, firstly, you should be appreciative of all the efforts your teachers have put in to make
online education possible. Learning, like, life should continue from cradle to grave. Your teachers
leave no stone unturned to ensure that, offline or online. You should always take their advice
seriously, whether it's regarding studies or modification of behaviour. Face the challenges that come
your way as a student as well as a member of society with consistent efforts.
One of the biggest talking points to emerge out of the NEP is having the ' mother tongue’ as the
medium of instruction up to Class V. Will it not hamper English medium teaching?
Chapter 6 of the NEP 2020 focuses on equity and inclusiveness in school education. A line in the
policy document states that teachers can be bi-lingual with their medium of instruction. When the local
language/dialect will be used as the mode of instruction, it’ll surely give the students an added
advantage. Moreover, it becomes the responsibility of the teachers to bridge the gap in learning once
the student is in Class VI. Sainik schools all over the country have already set a precedent in this
regard.
Do you think that all suggestions given are practical enough to be implemented?
The New Education Policy signals the dawn of a new era. Rome wasn't built in a day. The Government
has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing it in the best way possible and it is working
towards that goal. There has been a “screening” to distinguish the “implementable” recommendations
from the “vague” ones before the government finally adopts them.
Given your experience and wisdom, what will be your message to the readers?
You come to an educational institution to lay down a strong foundation for your development to
become a useful member of your family, society and the country you belong to. This is
the most important phase of your life. Your efforts, attention, and intensity for the best
education will build in your strength and the ability to achieve the toughest target and
lead a successful life. Nothing is beyond consistent effort and determination.

Here are some edited excerpts from the interview with Dean of Academics, Mr. S. S. Shrivastava whose
persona inspires everyone to be the best versions of themselves. The rendezvous shed light on the
important features of the National Education Policy-2020 and Covid-19, among other things. The
enthusiastic interviewers were Rehat Kaur, XI Humanities and Simran Adwani, XI Commerce.

‘Necessity is the mother of inventions’, the truth of the adage was proved real during the
unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic in so many ways. Sir, we would like to have your
ruminations about it?
During my fifty years of educational experience this was one of the most unprecedented events that
has happened. Though our teachers have tried their level best to cope up with the situation through
the virtual classes yet attaining the desired goal was a herculean task and some lacunas were left.
This pandemic has thrown a global challenge to mankind with questions like:' How to face it? and
'What are the new ways and means to curb it? 'And I must say that our scientists, our frontline
workers, our teachers, and our warriors did a commendable job to surpass this disaster. This has
increased a sort of cohesiveness amongst countries and people around the world.
What would you say are the pros and cons of the online classes?
This was an extremely challenging period, undoubtedly. The pandemic has led to some elements
of teaching-learning being changed permanently. I also learned to take online classes-an
achievement that has paved the way to my personal growth. Though I feel it was difficult to replicate
peer learning, participation in extracurricular activities and sports and development of emotional
quotient but then we have spent decades perfecting our craft in classrooms so, comparison at this
stage is premature.
Your reflections on the NEP?
I could find out two very important points in this education policy -
1. The NEP 2020 aims at making “India- a global knowledge superpower”. The revised policy
expands the age group of mandatory schooling from 6-14 years to 3-18 years. The nursery and
preschool years are the underpinnings of our child’s educational journey as it is the most receptive
age and I am happy that in our school we lay due stress on building this foundation strong.
2. The policy focuses on bringing vocational education into mainstream education. Enrolling in
vocation education courses can help develop new professional skills, improve your current skills or
retrain for new employment. So this will surely help in making our youth self-reliant.
What is your message during this pandemic? How can we all prove to be the best Sagarites of
the school?
This is very clear that any problem, any calamity, any disaster can occur at any time. The Covid-19
pandemic has brought plenty of problems to the world, but it may also be leading us to
better times. You — the budding Scientists and Engineers— can view this as a unique
opportunity to seek out new challenges. Your talent and flexibility, coupled with a
solid knowledge of advanced Science and Technology will allow you to create
a real impact as the world emerges from this crisis.

Teaching can be teacher-centric, teaching can be learner-centric but from 2021 teaching would definitely
be learning-centric.
These words sum up the belief of our respected Director HR, Shri K.K. Dubey who talks of the
constructively transformative nature of education in a chat with a Sagarite from XI Commerce, Madiha
Aqueel.

We know that Covid-19 has affected everyone all around the globe. How did it affect the
teachers and schools?

Well, I feel. The COVID-19 pandemic has no doubt reshaped the way many of us approach
pedagogy. Sagar Public School was one of the first institutes to get in tune with the new realm of
online education. While keeping our teaching standards high and making our presence felt in the
education sector, we catered to all the needs which the new digital edification demanded. Our
school-administered positive differentiation among teachers based on the needs of our learners and
our efficiency to keep abreast with the changing scenario. With the motive of EVERY CHILD LEARNS,
the teaching was customized and modified as per the mental and physical needs of our learners.
With no infrastructure and physical student-teacher bonding both students and teachers right from
Nursery to Class XII were acquainted with the virtual education system and that was a great
achievement.

What was your secret regime of personal wellness during the lockdown?

We all know that stress and anxiety levels have risen with financial concerns, job insecurity, strict
social distancing, and health concerns, among the other issues threatening to negatively impact
individual well-being. To overcome this hurdle, I have developed two habits for enriching my mind
and body. Regular physical exercise and reading. It is extremely important to keep ourselves
away from negativity and dullness and to keep enriching our physical and mental selves in order to
be constructive for society.

What are your contemplations about the New Education Policy?

Indeed with the quickly changing employment landscape and global ecosystem, it is becoming
increasingly critical that children not only learn but more importantly, learn how to learn. The new
National Education Policy has at least got us talking about education. The best part is the learner-
centered approach to education and I believe it is a positive step towards a more equal, inclusive,
and developed future. The approach provides holistic education to the students. It provides equal
focus to the intellectual, physical, social, emotional progress and well-being of the
students.

The Tough Get Going When the Going Gets Tough

This educator, administrator, and innovator, the recipient of India's Most Impactful School Leaders
Honours, 2020, has tirelessly tried to change the world for a better tomorrow for almost three decades,
mentoring and motivating her crew of teachers to take up the task of engaging and inspiring today’s youth
to become tomorrow’s world leaders.
Students from Class XI, Aditya Pradhan, XI Humanities and Palak Verma, XI Science were heartened to get
inspired during a rendezvous with the connoisseur.

The pandemic has disrupted many lives and jobs but has also forced us to explore
different perspectives of the things that we have been doing for so long. What do you
think are some positive aspects of these changes in the online platform of education?
True, this year, with the enormous scale of the crisis and the impact it is having, has been challenging
and has thrown life out of gear. However, I would say that we have succeeded in managing the crisis
effectively. Those who convert challenges into opportunities emerge as winners.” It has resulted in
the largest online movement in the history of education”. During this crisis, we have been a part of an
incredible amount of large-scale efforts to use technology in support of remote learning. We had to
brush up on all the tools of online mode. In the future probably we are going to have blended learning
with an entirely new hybrid model of education. There will be regular classes along with remedial
classes held through this mode. I have also understood that flip learning is a brilliant way of teaching
where the students read and prepare and come to class and help the teacher in actual classroom
transactions. So, I believe traditional offline learning and e-learning can go hand in hand in the future.
Coming to NEP language policy; up to Class V, children will be taught in the mother
tongue. How do you perceive this change?
Let us not forget that education is for the entire nation. If we talk about villages and remote
destinations, definitely teaching in English would be a big challenge. Teaching in your mother tongue
is valid in those areas. But for the children in cities, English is no more a foreign language. The kind of
environment you create for learning to happen is what matters. Now let me share with you something
very positive. Many of the new inclusions recommended by NEP have been a part of the teaching-
learning process at SPS. Holistic, discussion, and analysis-based learning has been our regular
practice. Practising multilingualism and a learning-centric approach are going to make a difference to
the intellectual level of students. All these are welcome changes that are going to bring about vast
changes in our approach towards education.
What is your message for the teachers and Sagarites?
I never fail to be astonished and delighted by the generosity of spirit displayed by our students and
staff. My wonder and admiration are all the greater when I see this generosity
undiminished by the challenges. Everybody has to come to school. That goes without
saying. Come what may, the gadgets like laptop or mobile cannot take the place of a
teacher. That eye contact in the class works wonders. Always remember,
Each new day is a fresh chance to try again at whatever we are working on.
So never stop dreaming, never stop believing, never give up, never stop Scan to view
trying and never stop learning.

For the first time ever, Ms Alpa Prabhu, Principal, Sagar Public School Gandhi Nagar, opened up to an
elaborate sit-down interview with Manoshi Dutta, XI Science and Arihant Kumar, XI Humanities, the
students of Class XI and the members of the Editorial Board. Ms. Alpa Prabhu, who is known for her distinct
vision and distinguished work in numerous capacities, took direct questions on a wide range of subjects and
expressed her views on online teaching, National Education Policy and the adaptability quotient.
Here are a few excerpts from the interview-

This year has been a very mixed bag with our struggle with the pandemic on one hand and
new and exciting changes like the National Education Policy on the other. What are your
thoughts about it?
For all the stakeholders of education, this was a year of a lot of processing and building personal strength
through overcoming challenges thrown at us. The N.E.P. came for all of us to ponder upon because the
Education Department wants the holistic development of the children. The N.E.P focuses on both the
scholastic and co-scholastic areas so that the child is prepared to be a global citizen. All the teachers in
the school went through the policy, worked it out and are now ready with the action plan.
The year 2020 has been rather unusual. What were some of the administrative challenges
that you faced pertaining to organizing online classes and making schedules?
The biggest challenge was to ensure that there was no zero year. All the stakeholders of education had
to adapt to the change, learn this new technology, and switch over to schooling from home. There were
various other challenges like shifting the content to the digital level, ensuring whether learning was
taking place for all the students and testing the learning outcomes. As a result of various training
sessions organized at school, the teachers were able to handle the classes and parents and students
were able to connect to them at different times of the day.
What do you believe would be some positive changes that we will see in the teachers due to
the experiences of 2020?
The year 2020 gave us a lot of learning. In the same spirit, we would continue with blended learning in
the sessions to come. Now that our teachers are well equipped with technology, blended learning will
continue with online as well as offline teaching.
What would be your final message to the students?
To foster the ‘adaptability quotient’. It depends on you whether you think of difficulties as problems or
opportunities. Situations will come, demanding ones, challenging ones, but if there is a problem, the
solution comes along with it. We need to ponder on and look for solutions instead of dwelling on the
problems. One must embrace the adaptability quotient to adapt and evolve.
On being complimented for managing situations effectively, Madam Principal gave the
credit to all the teachers. Members of the Editorial Board were enamoured by her
buoyancy and undaunted spirit and were grateful to her for the interview.

Interaction with the Vice Principal, Ms. Mridu Prakash Saxena highlighted the true essence of this quote as
her insightful views on the National Education Policy, 2020 and Covid-19 gave us some food for thought to
ponder upon.

Tanya Singh, Class XI Commerce and Atharva Thakur, Class XI Science interacted with Ms Mridu P Saxena.

As you know we have been in a surfeit of dramatic changes this year, be it the NEP or the
pandemic; we would like to have your reflections on the same.

National Education Policy-2020 has been a very innovative idea of our Ministry outlining India’s new
education policy. I find that this Educational Policy is quite skill-oriented with a lot of emphasis on
vocational training in rural and urban sectors.

We know that Covid-19 has affected everyone all around the globe. In what ways were you
affected as teachers?

When this pandemic began, teachers had little time for exhaustive deliberations. They had to adapt
very quickly to e-learning, though with proper training. They had 48 hours or a weekend to reinvent
lessons for an already planned curriculum, learn new technologies, find non-technology solutions to
student learning, and figure out how to keep students engaged. I would say, we, at SPS, also have
taken up this challenge and all the teachers, within 10 days, equipped themselves and have come on
this virtual platform.

Your views about Covid-19 and the New Education Policy?

Regarding the new Educational Policy, there are many changes which are coming up. Recently, too,
there have been some notifications by the Ministry. We are all in the process of accepting it
wholeheartedly, and definitely, it is going to bring India into a new education forum.

Coming to Covid-19, I would say that this particular disease has made each and everyone
responsible. As far as utilizing the period of the lockdown is concerned, I would like to give this
message to all my students that whenever any such thing happens in life, we should be utilizing this
time in preparing ourselves for any opportunity that would come in our way. A simple example to
understand this life lesson is that if there is a seed, which is there, submerged under the soil, and you
keep on giving it water and nutrients, it will only flourish when it gets the proper amount of sunlight. It
means that when it gets an opportunity, then only it will flourish.

While there have been many challenges and are more still to come, I am impressed Scan to view
by, and grateful for, the efforts and ingenuity of our students and teachers. The things
we have learned, and the innovations we have pioneered, will not soon leave us. We
are building new structures and practices that will last beyond Covid-19 and will
benefit students for many years to come.

10

Excellence is not a destination; it is a continuous journey that never ends. At SPS, we strongly believe that
determination and commitment are crucial for sailing through any crisis and for attaining the success we
seek. Learning, like life, must go on, unabated by the challenges thrown in its way. Upholding this view, in
a departure from the norm, an online felicitation ceremony was organized on 6th Jan 2021, by the school
to acknowledge and honor our shining pearls, the Sagarites of Classes X, XI and XII, 2019, who had made
the school proud by spearheading towards excellence with yet another stupendous result.

Unravelling 2020-21... Overcoming Challenges

FUTURE- READY
Education is realigning itself with changes that unfold in the wake of the pandemic. Blended
learning is becoming a reality sooner than expected. AI, we saw has been percolating across
systems rapidly, however, we also understood that cognitive and critical thinking, decision
making, EQ, feelings and humane touch have no substitute.
In tune with the times, we recalibrated our teaching-learning logistics and allied ourselves
with the latest trends. This year's publication, Oyster, is reflective of this change around us.
BLENDING IS BYWORD
The Message segment is in the form of interviews between the school leaders and Sagarites.
The accompanying QR code unlocks the videos of discussions, events and meetings that
transpired in the session.
The segment that comes next is the division of the year-round activities, mostly online, in
terms of months. Each month tells a story of its own, underlining the activities of the month
in general and our accomplishments and learnings in particular. The novel online and offline
academic and co-curricular enrichment activities undertaken for teachers and learners find
their due reference in the segments that follow. The concluding segment, The Lockdown
Tales, is an attempt to capture the outpouring of emotions felt during the period of
Lockdown by the students, parents and teachers of the Sagar family. Each story narrates a
saga of courage in the face of the challenges. The beautiful cover page by Manini Pawar,
Class XI A highlights the aesthetic sense and sensitivity of Sagarites. The Celtic symbol in
the center showcases the process of change and progressive endeavour, taking us through
the pandemic, online teaching and NEP, the dominant phases that have impacted our life
and learning.
BE HUMAN
Once normalcy is restored and the Corona virus becomes a thing of the past, a story to pass it
on to the next generation, if we fail to remember our everyday heroes, our frontline workers,
we will be blamed for being unjust towards humanity. If there is one lesson to be learned
from this time, it is developing understanding, making connections and developing empathy
among all beings.

Aarohan

Congratulations and Celebrations
It’s time for jubilation, Let’s have fun as you graduate to Class one

Aarohan is a formal ceremony where children enter into the traditional classroom, away
from the cocooned Montessori environment and take the first step towards formal
education. This period is the formative period of a student’s life that lays the foundation
of and paves the way for their future. If filled with knowledge, appreciation, love and
affection, these qualities will remain with the child forever. Keeping this in view, we
nurture our small blooming flowers with a lot of care, tenderness and affection, before
their formal entry in the primary section.

We, at SPS, recognise the importance of PTM as a strong bridge

Strategy, Virtual Parent Teacher Meetings for
Classes Nursery to XII were conducted at SPS GN,
to build a healthy relationship between the
teacher-student-parent trio which is imperative
for the holistic growth of the students. The main
purpose of the meeting was to create a common
platform for the parents and teachers to come
together and discuss the educational experiences
of the students. Parents were made acquainted with the online classroom teaching strategies and
happenings at the school on a virtual platform. All
issues such as the latest updates in education,
Moodle exams, students' performance, Classes X
and XII results, online etiquettes, importance of life
skills, cyber security concerns and the school's career
counselling cell etc were addressed. The parents
were satisfied with how their wards embraced the
new normal and adapted to the new model of
education. The teachers gave comprehensive
feedback of each child to the parents.

The educationists from the school shared various
parenting skills pertaining to this lockdown period and
guided parents for smoothly attending the online
classes. On the other hand, the parents appreciated
the continuous efforts of the school and the teachers in
providing a conducive environment for the holistic
development of the children. They further expressed
their satisfaction towards the school for providing
facilities and encouragement for co-curricular
activities, which help in the
overall development of the
students. During an interaction with the Class Teachers, the parents were quite
delighted to go through various activities done by the children during the previous
months, showcased through the Annual report in which Madam Principal gave an
overview of all the activities from March to December. The general discussion was
followed by subject-specific meetings wherein the efforts of the subject teachers
to make their classes creative and interesting were unanimously appreciated by all
the parents. Overall, the meetings were highly productive and interactive
meetings wherein feedback was shared, queries were catered to and suggestions
were welcomed.

“UDAAN sessions were held regularly to guide all the students to help us in
making choice of a right career. These sessions do not only guide us about the
career options but also suggested the ways through which a student can achieve

his/her goal, the exams in which one has to go into a particular career. The
career counselling sessions also taught us the ways to prepare for any exam, and
even if we fail in any exam, there is no need to regret, instead one should work
harder than before to appear again for it. The failures don't mean that we don't

have the potential instead they make us perfect as said by Mr. Anand, a
counsellor from UDAAN Sessions. These sessions also suggested us the best
institutions of different fields. These sessions helped me a lot to decide the most

Orientations

Creating a Culture of Collaboration

Creating a Culture of Collaboration

SPS took great strides in increasing the frequency of communication with
families, taking advantage of digital tools to give parents more visibility into their
child’s day. We believe parental engagement is necessary for sustainability and
overall growth of children. Synergistic sessions on the value of childhood care,
parenting and education were held round the year wherein the Director of the
school, Dr Jaishree Kanwar and the advisor to the school Shri K. K. Dubey, the
Principal, Ms Alpa Prabhu, the Vice Principal, Ms. Mridu Saxena and all the Head
mistresses, time and again highlighted the importance of a healthy
environment, facing life’s challenges and taking both success and failure in one’s
stride.

COVID19 crisis has compelled us to pause, rethink and re-evaluate the way we
had been living our lives. We need to do this with a spirit of optimism.

In a series of counselling sessions organized for parents from different Classes, the resource person,
school counsellor, Dr Indu Singh, guided the parents about how to communicate and connect with their
child and teach them the coping mechanisms for managing emotions and thriving in each new
developmental stage.

Educative webinars on pertinent issues related to children's socio-economic development and behavioral
issues were held continually. Child Psychology and Mental Health, Managing Adolescent Behaviour are to
name a few.

Strengthening Ties through Colloquy- a formal conversation

“A parent is a teacher at home, a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the center of our universe.”

We completely understand the importance of a child’s growth and the sensitive role of parents along with
teachers, wherein we foster your child's learning through joint efforts of parents, teachers and the school
through regular orientations. These parent orientation programs are usually held on quarterly basis to
bring the parents up to speed about their child’s progress as well as give them an idea of the various
teaching methodologies being employed at the school. By doing so, the parents would be able to
implement the learning process at home as well, ensuring the student doesn’t lose continuity in learning.
They can also suggest other, more creative ways to teach, which could aid in the better learning of the
students. This way, all the parents of the respective class students can be involved and an acceptable
solution can be reached by consensus. The parents are encouraged to interact with other parents as well
as the teachers during the program, as only then can they bring out their issues that need to be discussed.
With this view Section Wise PTMS were organized across the school from Nursery to Class XII as a tool to
bridge the communication gap between parents and teachers by allowing opportunities to develop
strategies that improve communication between home and virtual school. There was also a session
conducted by the Students of Class IX to XII for their respective classes in which they shared their
productive utilisation of the time when they are away from their School. Madam Principal along with her
team addressed the concerns of parents and gave recommendations and plausible solutions to the
queries raised.

Health and Happiness Through Naturopathy

Informative sessions were conducted by Dr. Gulab Rai Tewani for the teachers on the topic, The Human
Body is Designed to Heal Itself, to guide them about ways to remain emotionally and psychologically
stable during these unprecedented times.

September Insights, Blessings In Disguise

In the pragmatic Kingdom of Heaven, a meeting of the most influential and persuasive
personalities of our country was called upon by Mahatma Gandhi. The subject that bothered most
of the members of the meeting was the future of India and whether the future of our country was in
safe hands or not. C.V. Raman argued that today's generation had lost touch with Mathematics and
education. Gandhi Ji strongly disagreed and gave the example of Sagar Public School, Gandhi
Nagar. To lend credibility to his version, he took them through September.

The onset of the month was a spectacle of the grit and spunk shown by six talented Sagarites in the
Mathletics Competition organized by Manaskriti School, Faridabad. Though they couldn't make
up to the Finale round, we understand that valor is not defined by or limited to victory alone.
Success has many shades, getting exposure and acknowledgment is nothing short of success.
Their exemplary performance was acknowledged with certificates of appreciation from Manaskriti
School, Faridabad. A different shade of success was tasted by Tanishk Singhal of Class VII
when he bagged the gold medal with his remarkably stellar performance. Needless to say, the wind
beneath their wings is the training of their trainers.

Taking pride in the efforts of the learners, Gandhi Ji told his comrades about the special emphasis
being given to the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). In the
Mental Maths Competition the Sagarites once again proved that Sagar is the home of
champions when they brought laurels to the school in UCMAS on 8th September 2020. Karthik
Khadka of Class IV E was the 2nd runner up in the State Level Competition. Vinayak Khadka of Class
IV E had secured 9th position in Madhya Pradesh. Parth Gupta of Class V D had bagged the 11th
Position in the State while Yatiraj Singh of Class VIII B had made it to the 18th spot in the State
Level Competition. With the help of such competitions, young Sagarites learned about
manipulating formulae and developed the ability to quickly process their output.
