Dear Parents,
Greetings!
It has been a week, since we welcomed
your precious little ones in Gems Heritage
School and you entrusted their little hands
in ours!
The first week was full of challenges but our
young students fared well. Matching the
mascot on the badge to the big mascot on
the wall, bulletin board, door, and using the
toilet in the classroom was overwhelming only
for a day. The very next day we had them
confidently and comfortably moving in the
corridor and helping those few who were
losing their way and heading for a different
class !
Our daily session begins with a prayer.
The varied, fun filled exercises on the
beat of a song gear up the children for
the day’s activities. Through exercises,
we reinforce the importance of keeping
fit, to be active and strong all through
the day.
The circle time session brings all children together
and helps build a rapport amongst them. They get to
know their classmates through various games and
activities which develop attention span, vocabulary,
listening skills, besides developing social skills like
waiting for one’s turn, listening to others when they
speak.
All these activities whet up everyone’s appetite and we
get ready for the snack session. Washing up before
eating, laying napkin on the table, saying a small prayer
before eating and being grateful for all we have is a
part of our snack time routine. Children are encouraged
to choose and eat healthy food over readymade packed
food. Cleaning up after meals is imbibed in children to
help them be responsible and independent.
The Creative Hour helps in developing fine
motor skills with a host of activities to choose
from like painting, printing, clay modeling,
paper tearing, crushing, twisting and pasting.
Children also have the opportunity to choose
and explore various equipment placed in the
classroom, like puzzles, beads and blocks.
The winding up session is the last but also an
important part of the day when children put
away things in the correct place and then head
for the buses after thanking God for a good
day and Teachers for the session. The
teachers also thank the children for the lovely
day spent with them as we say goodbye!!
The theme chosen for the coming two weeks is ‘Gingerbread
Man’. Apart from enjoying the story session, various interesting
activities are lined up for the children.
