Early Childhood Screening

What is Early Childhood Screening?

Early Childhood Screening (ECS) is a FREE developmental
screening required for all preschool-age children by the State
of Minnesota. It includes a developmental screening and a
vision, hearing, height, weight and immunization review.
Early childhood developmental screening helps a school
district identify children who may benefit from district and
community resources available to help in their development.
Early childhood developmental screening includes a vision
screening that helps detect potential eye problems but is not a
substitute for a comprehensive eye exam.

ECS is required for every child entering kindergarten. In order
for your child to start kindergarten in any Minnesota public
school, you will need to provide proof of ECS.
Key Information:
Time for Screening? • Children currently on the school census will automatically be
scheduled for a screening appointment before their 4th birthday.

they are older. The optimum age for screening is 3

school year. If you do not receive a letter with an appointment or Early Childhood Screening
are new to the community and not on the school census, please
call our message line at 952-232-3000 #3.
• Appointments are for parent and child together and take
approximately 45 – 60 minutes.
• Screening is held at Crystal Lake Education Center,
16250 Ipava Ave.
• You will receive a summary sheet and the forms will be sent to
your child’s elementary school before entering kindergarten.
• Questions? Call 952-232-952-232-3000 #3 and leave a message.
We will return your call.

Facility Scheduling & Directory

Facility Scheduling
The Lakeville Area School District encourages the use of school buildings by
the community. The district believes that school facilities are an important
resource in creating educational, recreational and social opportunities for the
community. The use of facilities is rent free for local, non-profit, non-religious
activities. Profit making organizations, churches and non-local groups must pay
rental fees. Rent is charged to help offset operational costs. Facility availability
is subject to change based on the needs of the school district.
