When you arrive, you will be dropped at the Hong Island artificial pier before the boat tie up. After paying the national park fee (THB 300 net per person), it is a just a small walk down the floating pier on the beach. The beach is lined by trees providing plenty of shady places to sit back and marvel the view. At the sheltered cove, it is a place to snorkel. The main, Hong Island is uninhabited, except for the birds, white faced gibbons,and giant monitor lizard that can be often spotted on the white sand beach (at quiet times.) The interior is home to a large lagoon to which its name "Hong" refers to. The long tail boat will be around only on mid tide. Lading Island traditionally is a place the local came to collect the valuable vital ingredient for bird's nest sop. There is a small beach where you can only enter when low tide, and then you can see the amazing rock formation and caves. Pakbia Island is a labyrinth of caves eroded into the cliffs by the sea. It is a small island, but there is very nice beach with trees along the edge. NGORN NAK MOUNTAIN HIKING 08:00 AM - 16:00 PM Hiking Distance: 3.7 kilometers (about 2.4 miles) Vertical Gain: 500 meters (about 1,500 feet) Time to complete: About 2 hours if you walk very fast. Three to four hours average. Cautions: Stay on the path, if you are lost it may be hours before someone knows or can find you. Essentials: Bring 2 liters of water for each person. Bring snacks to eat at the top. The trail totals 3.7 km, and a small map at the entrance gives hikers a brief introduction into what's in store up ahead. The trail boasts a stream, two viewpoints, a waterfall and of course the panoramic summit. The beginning of the hike is flat, very scenic and nearly entirely under the canopy of the jungle, which provides good on hot days. The easy pace to start off is a nice way to wake up the hiking muscles and casually stroll through the tropical greenery. For those whose curiosity is peaked by all the greenery, there are numbered signs along the way which give some details about the flora and fauna in the area. Try not to get too sidetracked as just before you know it the first landmark is in sight. A small stream splits the trail and a footbridge is there to help hikers cross the flowing water safely. A splash of the cool water on your head is definitely recommended to help keep cool. Quickly after passing the stream the ascent upwards kicks into high gear.
