Buster Posey Rule-The Buster Posey Rule protects the runner that runs to
home plate.

errors- Is a mistake that you make that can lead to points for the other
team.

home run- A home run is when a hitter hits a baseball out of the baseball
field (when its a fair ball).

MLB- The MLB stands for Major League Baseball.

professional- Professional means the top level in a sport and usually get
paid.

World Series- I t is the championship for the best two teams for that
season.

In the MLB t oday, there are 30 teams. Each team is in a city and it
has its own stadium. Thousands of people support their team. A baseball
field has an infield and an outfield. The infield is brown and shaped like a
diamond and the outfield is green. There is also a wall and two foul lines.
The infield includes the bases and a pitcher mound. The uniforms are in the
color of the team. All the players on the team must have the same
uniforms. Each team has different uniforms from the other teams. The
game of baseball is pretty straight forward. First, the away team bats and
the home team takes the field. The away team continues to bats until the
home team gets three outs. This the top of an inning. Next, the home team
bats and the away team take the field until they get three out. This is the
bottom of the inning. This game goes on like this for nine innings. The
game is over when all nine endings are done and the team with the most
runs win.

First, in 1839, Abner Doubleday invented baseball. In 1845,
Alexander Cartwright made the rules of baseball. Next, in 1846, the very
first game of baseball was played. In 1876, the very first league was formed
and it was called the National League. Following that in 1882, another
baseball league was formed called the America Baseball Association. Last,
in 1903 the World Series was invented. American baseball started in 1869
and it is still going on today. This is the 150th year of baseball.

An old picture of baseball

Baseball has many similarities and differences compared to other
team sports such as basketball. First, both baseball and basketball are
team sport where whoever has the most points wins. Baseball and
basketball both use a ball and most big cities have both p rofessional
teams. Both sports also have a playoff system where one team is the
champion of the season. However, there are many differences between
the two sports. Baseball is played outside on a field where basketball is
playing on a count inside an arena. Baseball has 9 players on the field at
one time while the opposing team only have one player at a time batting.
Basketball has 5 players from each team on the court playing at the same
time. Baseball is played by nine innings while basketball is played by four
quarters. Only one run is scored per player at a time wherein basketball a
player can score 2 or 3 points per basket.

Basketball and baseball

In baseball, there are a lot of cause and effects. For example, there is
an effect on the game when you catch a baseball in the air. When you
catch a fly ball in the air without it touching the ground, you get the person
that hit the ball out. Also if there is a player on base and you catch the ball
in the air, the player will have to go back to the base he was on. Another
cause and effect is when you hit a home run. When you hit a home run,
you and any other players that are on base can run home and each player
equals one run. To illustrate, if there is a player on second base and the
batter hits a home run, that player and the batter get to go home and the
team gets two runs. Errors have a lot of cause and effect in baseball. In
fact, errors are such a big deal in baseball that they are actually counted
and used in player statistics. A dropped ball or an overthrown ball can lead
to the other team scoring a run and changing the outcome of the game.

A drop ball is an error

One problem in baseball is collisions at home plate. This is a problem
because there is a lot of injuries that occurred at home plates such as
concussion, bone fractures, and more. A solution to this problem is that
MLB made a rule called the Buster Posey Rule. This rule says that the
catcher can not stand in front of home plate. The catcher has to give the
runner a clear lane to run to home plate. This rule has been used since
2014 and it is still used today.
