HONORED

WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
AWARD

Randy Mott earned a lifetime achievement award for CIO leadership
from the Haas School of Business at the University of California,
Berkeley in 2017. The Fisher-Hopper Prize is one of the most
prestigious awards for chief information officers.
The university bestows the award in honor of the late Don Fisher,
co-founder of The Gap, and Max Hopper, renowned CIO and
business leader. Both men shared a vision of CIOs as inventive
leaders within their organizations, using the power of computing
to optimize business organizations. Mott received the award at a
ceremony at the university near the end of September.
"Randy has had a major, positive, enduring impact on every
company whose IT organization he has led. I stress that his impact
has been on the company as a whole, not just the company's IT
organization. In Randy Mott, GM has a true ‘star’ … a person very
much at the top of his profession," said James M. Spitze, executive
director, Fisher Center for Business Analytics, Institute for Business
Innovation, Haas School of Business.
The lifetime achievement award adds to a list of honors
over the past several decades Randy has earned, including
InformationWeek's "Chief of the Year" in 1997, entering CIO
Magazine's Hall of Fame in 2007, and earning the "Roger Milliken
Career Achievement Award" from the Voluntary Interindustry
Commerce Solutions association in 2007.
