BACKGROUND
PERPUSTAKAAN TUN ABDUL RAZAK UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA
The establishment of the UiTM Library began with the establishment of the RIDA Training Hall
in Jalan Othman, Petaling Jaya on 14 February 1957. It was known as the RIDA Library,
containing reading materials for Book Keeping, Accounting and Preparatory Courses for the
London examination. Chamber of Commerce (LCC). At the beginning of its existence, an
English Matron was responsible for overseeing the library and all library work operations only
operated in a room located on the first floor of the old building of the Administration Division,
RIDA Training Hall.
At the Main Campus, the ITM Library has been provided with a special four-storey building
designed and built according to the specifications of the academic library to accommodate
collections, reading space and customers. This library was inaugurated by the Second Prime
Minister of Malaysia, namely Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussien on 29 July 1972. The name of the
Tun Abdul Razak Library (PTAR) was given in conjunction with the name of the Prime Minister
of Malaysia.

state-of-the-art curricula and impactful research.
PHILOSOPHY
Every individual has the ability to attain excellence through the transfer of knowledge and
assimilation of moral values so as to become professional graduates capable of developing
knowledge, self, society and nation.

OBJECTIVES
To enhance the knowledge and expertise of Bumiputeras in all fields of study through professional
programs, research work and community service based on moral values and professional ethics.
1. To empower the delivery of UiTM library services as a center of information excellence
that always remains relevant and respected.
2. To serve comprehensive, up to date and relevant knowledge and resources in various
physical and virtual formats.
3. To provide a conducive environment and facilities for teaching, learning and research
matters.
4. To develop the latest information technology and communication facilities based on
customer needs.
5. To strengthen human capital through Budaya PERDANA for PUiTM communities.
6. To enrich relation and cooperation with external organizations in industrial networks.

2 • All bags are allowed but will be checked.
3 • Please refer to the zoning system.
4 • Outdoor meals are not allowed.
5 • Removing reference materials from the library without permission is prohibited.
6 • Misuse of library computers is not allowed.
7 • Tearing or damaging library books is strictly prohibited.
8 • Vandalism of library property is strictly prohibited.
9 • Users are not allowed to remove or change the arrangement of furniture in the library.
10 • Library seating may not be reserved due to limitations.
11 • Wearing slippers is not allowed when entering the library.
12 • Helmets and hats are not allowed to be brought and worn in the library.
13 • ‘Dating’ or sitting exclusively with your partner of the opposite sex is strictly prohibited.
14 • The library will not be responsible for the loss of users' personal belongings.
