Amid increase in screen time
..
The most confusing question which comes in the mind of everyone now-a-days Is “increased screen
time a boon or a bane?”. We, being students, are always encouraged to study more and spend less
time in watching screen. But now-a-days, due to COVID pandemic, our classes are also running
online. It clearly states that we need to sit in front of the screen to study. It is imperative to study in
order to get good grades and be successful in life. We are lucky to have such a cherished technology
which is helping us in this time of pandemic. With the help of laptops, tablets and phones, we are
able to attend our classes properly although all on screens. It is a boon for us to have screens. With
their help, we can attend classes and even interact with our friends and relatives. Technology is the
best thing which brings people together . But everything in this world has both advantages and
disadvantages. We have discussed so many advantages of screen time. But on the other hand
screen produces harmful radiations which is not good for our eyes. It hurts eyes, increases the risk
of obesity and sometimes leads to physical strain. When a person sits in front of a screen for a long
time it grabs his interest to explore more and more social media which can lead to a lot of wastage of
time, sometimes hackage and cyber scams also. The average time spent on smartphones in a day
has been on the rise. A study released last year shows that it went from 4.9 to 5.5hours in March
2020 to 6.9 hours April 2020 onwards. “Reduce your screen time to increase your productivity
time.” One should use the sources in such a way so that they can make correct use of it. If technology
has developed, we must develop ourselves too. We all love to stay in touch with the latest trends.
The latest trend going on now-a-days is staying fit. Like cardio exercise and eye exercise are also the
most trending exercises now-a-days. We should spare at least one hour from our busy schedule in
order to stay fit and to provide rest to our hardworking eyes ‘‘Change bane into boon by making
judicial use of science and technology.’’

LAYERS OF YOGA YOGAFEST
Anandaamaya kosha WHAT IS YOGA ?
Vijnanamaya kosha
Yoga comes from a samskrutam word ‘yuj’ meaning ‘union’.
Manomaya kosha Samskrutam is nowadays popularly known as ‘SANSKRIT’. ‘UNION’ here
Pranamaya kosha means the realization of oneness with consciousness. It has been
Annamaya kosha followed in India since time immemorial. Yoga is mentioned in VEDAS
which is more than 5000 years old . By this we know how old yoga is. It
started when there was no concept of religion. It started when the only
language people knew was Samskrutam or maybe by the people who
knew only sanskrit. So whatever is documented about yoga is mostly
in SAMSKRUTAM. There are few Yogic texts which are in Hindi too but
that doesn’t say it belongs to one religion and others should not follow
it. It was started by human kind and it is meant to be followed by

Growing through
Gratitude !!
"We learnt about gratitude and humility-that so many people had a hand in our
success, from the teachers who inspired us to the janitors who kept our school clean, and we
were taught to value everyone's contributions and treat everyone with respect."
-Michelle Obama
It is not surprising that gratitude itself has long been appreciated by human civilisation. The
word derives from the Latin,'gratus' meaning pleasing or thankful. It is a feeling of
appreciation or similar positive response shown by the recipient of kindness, towards the
giver.
Among all human sentiments, having a sense of gratitude towards our benefactors, be it
Mother nature, our parents, family members, friends, the community and the nation is key to
mental balance and happiness. A grateful person is good to others, not insecure, and
spreads happiness. As the world grapples with the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, let's
step back and think about our place in this tumultuous world. There is much sorrow, despair
and anguish around. Many have lost loved ones or are facing economic peril and many are
amidst personal struggles. So,do we engulf ourselves in gloom or find warmth in rays of
hope? We have to be thankful and grateful for our survival. The nature, through virus,
teaches us we must fight this situation together.Take nothing for granted. It teaches us to
value and have gratitude and appreciation for all that we have.Be sensitive, share and care.
This period shows us the immense power of kindness, how important love and care is to
nurture and nourish true relationships and human life, to conserve our resources and not
deplete or harm them.
Gratitude is a state of being that allows us to see the positive. It can do wonders and change
our temperament. It comes from realizing that there is good in the world, that some of that
good is with us and that those good things are coming from an external reality. That state of
consciousness imbibes us with positivity.
Let's perform an activity now.
- Lock your hands behind you,
- Pick up your favourite gift with your mouth
- Try to use it.
Is it possible?
If not, then thank God for His blessings. ms. sarita kukreja
