PDS @ 65. Another reason why PDS should celebrate.
Another reason why our team has been working doubly hard to give the best to our
society.
An epitome of excellence, we wish to impart, in more ways than one.
Our dermatological society has shown unity, through hard times.
We have lauded accomplishments. We have shared greatness.
We have a stronghold of our memberships, watching every step that each one takes. Maria Juliet E. Macarayo, MD
We may have faltered along the way, but our concern for each and everyone, makes ASST. EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
rising up an easier task.
Our leaders have set the trend, believing in the capacity of the society to grow.
Our membership has heeded the call, to be there for the society.
Our society has tried its utmost best, to be there for the membership.
No society is perfect, but working together and believing in what it can be…
will make us all look forward to a PDS@100.
Thanks to the SKINCONTACT Team from the first to this fourth issue for 2017.
We still have a round for 2018 and I am already seeing you all grow to better writers Carolina A. Carpio, MD
and editors.
Thanks to the budding writers from all the PDS institutions and chapters, your articles ASSOCIATE EDITORS
are our life.
And much gratitude to the PDS officers and board members, for giving us a chance to
make a difference.

“If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Aenelle B. Dizon, MD Christina Raissa F. Pasion, MD
-Isaac Newton
This last issue of Skin Contact for 2017 celebrates 65 years of PDS. It was a wonderful
learning opportunity to look back on our society’s rich history. PDS’ giants – our
founding fathers, leaders, mentors, policy makers and workers – have all forged difficult
paths that have led us to where we are today.
Working on this issue made me appreciate the rich heritage of PDS more and what Alma Gay Concepcion T. Amado, MD Bernadette Lou G. Caluya, MD
a great privilege it is to be a part of this society. As PDS members, we all play a part
whether big or small in making our society what it is today. With God’s guidance and
wisdom, let us continue to work together to make PDS great.
Thank you to my co-editors Drs. Carol Carpio and Aenelle Dizon for being a joy to work
with, Larry Laconsay for working his lay-out magic, and to our brilliant editor-in-chief
Dr. Juliet Macarayo for her dynamic leadership of the SkinContact team.

“Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try.”
- Gail Devers
Every time you try to do something new, you give yourself a chance… a chance to open
doors for new learnings. Getting invited to join Skin Contact gave me an opportunity Maricarr Pamela M. Lacuesta-Gutierrez, MD Maria Carla C. Perlas, MD
to engage on something unfamiliar; but giving it a try made a different kind of
experience.
This heartwarming issue will make us remember the significant people and their
contributions in shaping the 65 years of PDS. Touching Lives will make us witnesses
to PDS’ humane nature. Learning Curves will make each one realize the efforts of our
society to keep our yearning for knowledge burning. Celebrating Achievements will
make us proud of the successes our members have attained. All of these attesting that Jeni M. Pua, MD Sarah Grace M. Tan, MD
PDS is entirely a society worth evolving in.
