Event The 42nd Annual Convention and 10th ASPCR Congress
Date November 5-7, 2019
Venue Edsa Shangri-la Hotel

very November, dermatologists throughout the country gather together for the
much-awaited annual convention. This year’s assembly was quite unparalleled as the
EPhilippine Dermatological Society (PDS), in cooperation with the Asian Society for
Pigment Cell Research (ASPCR), brought forth “Kaleidoscope of Pigmentary Disorders” –
highlighting on the constant role of colorism and its mutations in modern society.

Sixty-three speakers from four different continents expounded on their different
specialties and subspecialties. Topics ranged from pigmentary disorders like vitiligo in
the pediatric patient to management of melasma and resistant hyperpigmentation.
New research regarding several interesting advancements such as new lasers
in pigmentation were shared and updated by the lecturers. A workshop on
pigmentaroscopy was also conducted. The Perpetuo Gutierrez Memorial Lecturer was
ISD’s Immediate Past President, Dr. Evangeline B. Handog.

The event overall, stayed true to its theme. It was a chromatic event touching the
procedural, cosmetic and pathological facets of dermatology.

The fellowship night was a ‘kaleidoscope’ of its own, with its colorful dance production
numbers admixed with special light effects and props. Befittingly themed GALA NIGHT
2019 – Music Throughout the Decades, we were enthralled by the fashion show and
the colorful costumes and garb of guests. Our invited artist-impersonators performed
the likes of Bruno Mars, Beyonce, Michael J & Lady Gaga to the delight of our members
and foreign guests.
