ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hello and welcome to the Etsy planner. Thank you for your purchase today,
and I hope you use this planner to help you on your Etsy shop journey.
A few years ago, I was an at-home Mum with two under 5's living in England.
I had just stopped working for an airline and decided to stay home to spend
more time with them before they both started school. I spent at least a
couple of years just enjoying my free time, doing house things - being
housewifey. During this time, I picked up my watercolor paints again, began
experimenting with new ideas, and got a bit more creative.
I loved this. It was instinctive, it was special to me, and it forced me to learn
something new. But I had no idea how I was going to make money from my
little creative craft. For now, I was just happy doing what I enjoyed. If I'm
honest, I was far too scared to print them and go out on a stall on a cold
Saturday and hope someone bought them from me.
While searching the internet, I stumble upon a Pattern Design course. It
ticked all the boxes, gave me something I could work on, but more
importantly, it introduced me to Adobe Illustrator, which I loved. I spent
months learning to create patterns, use color, and licensing artwork. But I still
felt like everyone was further ahead, better, younger, and had more ideas
than I did.
I
I'd never even heard of Etsy until then, but it looked pretty straight forward,
and in a short few hours, I had opened up a shop. Of course, I had nothing
to sell, so my shop just sat there for weeks. I have to be honest, it was a
struggle not knowing how to do it, but finally, I had three listings. I felt slightly
thrilled that it all seemed so uncomplicated, that it was going to be so easy,
and voila, I'd be making a full-time income in no time.
Sadly that wasn't the case. I sold 1 or 2 items in the first month. I thought a
successful day was having 18 views and one sale a week. But selling 1 item a
week wasn't exactly a success. I did what 90% of people do and gave up. It
was too hard. What was I doing wrong? Were my pictures bad? Was I
selling something nobody wanted? Why wasn't I getting views or even any
interest? I abandoned my shop a second time.
Fast forward to around a year later - I was on Pinterest searching for
something to go on the wall. I'd seen a few pins of prints that people were
selling, which eventually led me back to Etsy, and I realized they were selling
these prints digitally. They had no overheads; they didn't have to print
anything or post anything. I used the skills I'd learned through creating
patterns on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to place some of the
watercolor paintings on sale using digital files.
I started another Etsy shop and didn't stop until it was open and had 20
items on sale. I worked solidly for three months almost every day, creating
prints, painting more, uploading, researching, posting, pinning - I worked so
hard I had to have therapy on my shoulder and thought I'd got RSI at one
point. OK, it was hard, but guess what?
II
Now my shop consistently brings in money every day. I admit I probably still
have a lot to learn. I make mistakes, lots of them. But I do consistently wake
up to sale, sale, sale in my shop. Some days I can sell over 180$ worth and
all the time while I'm sleeping, making dinner, walking the kids to school.
It means I can spend my time away from the computer if I want because I
can manage myself. I'm not going to say it's all easy. Some days, I do put in
10hrs, but other days I might have four days where I don't even log onto my
shop. Your shop doesn't have to be perfect, and it's OK to start, then stop,
then create a new shop, then start again, then get another idea and start
again. It's normal to think no one will buy your stuff, and it's OK to try and sell
something that no one wants.
But it's not OK to do nothing. It's not going to help you if you don't try
because you will be the 90% of people who stop trying when it gets a bit
tough. Over the years, I've learned that sometimes things take time - you
must be organized and present in your business to make any significant
money selling.
Creating systems for each part of the process is crucial if you wish to have
a large shop selling daily. The purpose of this Etsy shop Planner is to provide
you with a roadmap to set up your shop on Etsy - but it will only work if you
take action.
Please give yourself a deadline for completing all sections and remind
yourself daily of what you wish to achieve.

WORKING TO A 90
DAY PLAN
A 90-DAY PLAN IS PROVEN TO BE ONE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT WAYS OF GETTING
OUR BIG GOALS COMPLETED. OFTEN REFERRED TO AS A SPRINT, IT'S PURPOSE IS
TO FOCUS THE MIND ONLY ON THE TASKS WHICH NEED TO BE COMPLETED AND
GET THOSE TICKED OFF IN A SET TIME.
WE WORK BETTER IF WE SET RULES AROUND OUR WORKING TIME.
FOR EXAMPLE - IF YOU SET A GOAL WHICH DOESN'T HAVE ANY CONCLUDING
DATE - THEN WE ARE MORE LIKELY TO PUT IT OFF, FIND SOMETHING TO DO WHICH
FEELS MORE IMPORTANT, AND ULTIMATELY FAIL TO ACHIEVE OUR POTENTIAL.
ONCE YOU HAVE FILLED IN THIS PAGE - NOW PLACE THOSE DATES ON YOUR
DIARY AND STICK TO THEM. USE THE 90 DAY TASK LIST TO TICK OFF YOUR JOBS
TO COMPLETE.
DO NOT LOSE FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL. IF YOU HAVE PLANNED TO FINISH BY
FRIDAY, THEN GET IT DONE.
IF YOU WANT TO WIN AT ETSY OR ANY OTHER BUSINESS, YOU MUST WORK
HARDER THAN EVERYONE ELSE. PROGRAM DAYS TO WAKE UP EARLY, MINIMISING
TRIVIAL TASKS AND GETTING INTO DEEP WORK.
I’VE SET THE FIRST PAGE AS AN EXAMPLE TO SHOW YOU.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE MONEY
Now we should see where the money is coming from within your shop and elsewhere. A
quick exercise to show you how much each product is contributing to your bottom line.
For example : my best seller is a printable set of 3 wall art prints. That item alone has
outsold everything in my shop. Knowing that this is my best seller allows me to
brainstorm other relatable products for the shop.
