Synopsis:
This film is about an old couple living in their tile roofed

house. Their children have moved to cities and their son
Murali is aware that they need support & care at old age. He
wishes to bring them to his flat but knows it’s not easy to
convince his father, so he asks his mother to do the same. Now
the old mother is put in a conflict. She knows her husband
won’t be happy to move to city but at the same time she is
worried about the health issues that can strike him at this age.

About the director:
Arun MS is a Final year student pursuing screenplay

writing & direction at K R Narayanan National Institute of
Visual Science and Arts, Kottayam, Kerala. His film Cycle
(Fiction) & Rhythm of a Village (Non-Fiction) was selected &
screened in 12th edition of International Documentary and
Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK). Cycle has received
numerous accolades in film festivals including best film & best
editing.

problems. As usual, people don’t live up to their plans, but the
trio don’t lose heart. What happens to their plan will be
unfolded in the movie.

Synopsis:
Hiran plays the antagonist in an independent movie. The

director of the movie helps him collect as much research
material as possible, to portray a unique criminal persona. He
gets to meet director’s muse, on whom the screenplay is
based. In his public life, Hiran is trying his best to balance
between his innate instincts and his character’s. After the
transition period, he fails to restrain himself from criticizing
the flaws of the screenplay. This talk evolves into an overblown
argument and to win the argument, the director fires Hiran
from the project. Can he win back his identity?

About the director:
Georgy Abraham, hails from Niranam, Kerala, he began his

career life as a Digital Media Strategist for a Digital Marketing
start-up. Later he interned with the Acts, Casting & Creative
teams of two Television shows for two Production Companies
in Mumbai . Currently he is doing a three year diploma in
Screenwriting & Direction at KR Narayanan National Institute
of Visual Science & Arts.

films including ad films and music videos. He has also worked
as an Executive Producer in an independent feature film. His
films have been screened in various national and international
platforms.

A student of Cinema, Nandan is equally passionate about

all facets of film making with a special interest for
Cinematography and Sound design. He believes Cinema is
more than just a communicative medium. Nandan interned at
Apostrophe Films in Mumbai and AVM Studios in Chennai,
and has worked as a Director, Cinematographer and Sound
designer on several short films.

Born 1993 in Leonberg; Hannah Weissenborn gained

initial experience on film sets during her time at school. Since
2015, studying directing at the Film Academy Baden-
Wuerttemberg; attending a guest semester at the Academy
of Media Arts Cologne and at La Fémis in Paris.

Life in Neuperlach, a Munich suburb, is tranquil. It is a safe

neighbourhood where peopleknow and greet each other.
Everybody has their own backyard; single car garages linethe
narrow footpaths and everything is nicely groomed. However,
this peaceful existencehas been troubled for some time now:
refugees are set to move in next door. Some ofthe residents
are worried that their peace will be disturbed, so they are
putting up anoise protection wall.

About the director:
Paul Scholten was born in 1996 in south Germany. He

started filmmaking when he was 17. His films were screened
at various festivals. Since 2017, he studies Documentary Film
at the University for Film and Television.

Valentin won the 2016 Young Talent Award of the

Cultural-Sparkassen-Foundation, a suggestion of Wim
Wenders. He is currently working on his first feature-length
documentary LOST IN FACE. He mainly works as a director
and animator on short films, animation and documentaries.

The film uses animated objects discovered in the family

archives to recount the life of my mother. It is a 20th century
biography: growing up in the Nazi era, teenage years in post-
war Germany, the building of the Wall and life in the GDR and
then reunified Germany. It is a story of escaping and adapting,
challenging and conforming.

About the director:
Betina Kuntzsch has studied at Hochschule für Grafik and

Buchkunst Leipzig. 1988 diploma with the video tape “I sat
upon a stone“. She worked at GDR TV station. Since 1988
video tapes and installations, print graphic, animation and
documentaries. Betina Kuntzsch lives and works in Berlin.

A true story about a war and the tragic impact it has on the

lives of three people. The story of a young man who leaves his
life behind in Germany and sets off to help people. In 2013,
Addai joins a Salafist group in Syria. A few years later his
mother meets Ilias, a returnee from Syria. Their personal
stories paint a clearer picture of Addai’s story.

About the director:
Born in 1981, Esther Niemeier is a director and producer

working in both the UK and Germany. She is currently enrolled
in the MFA Documentary Directing course at the Film
University Babelsberg. Konrad Wolf, Tracing Addai is her
graduation film.

Aator (Perfume) is a Bengali emotional short film revolving

around Bireswar Roy Choudhary a lonely old man living in
North Kolkata awaiting his son’s visit during Durga Puja. A
conversation he strikes with an old seller of perfumes, leads
him down the memory lane, making him revisit stories he long
forgot.

About the director:
Aniket is a Visual Designer and Concept Artist by

profession and passion. A gold medalist from Government
College of Art & Craft, Calcutta, he is a travel photographer,
illustrator and an independent filmmaker. In his seven years of
industrial experience, he has worked with companies like
O&M, Cognizant and Capgemini. He currently works as a
Storyboard and Concept Artist with Yash Raj Films. A
bookworm and music lover, Aniket is a diehard admirer of the
legendary director Satyajit Ray. Fond of art in all its various
forms, he believes in exploring something fresh every day!

About the director:
Siddharth Singh Tiwari is an Indian filmmaker, editor, and

writer. Siddharth was born and brought in the city of Rewa
(Madhya Pradesh). He finished his Graphic designing course in
Indore followed by an editing course in Mumbai in the year
2010. He started his career as an editor and later started his
journey as a writer and director. Among his first films, Raghav
and A New Door were screened in many international film
festivals like Indie Film Festival 2015 in Switzerland, Kinolit
Film Festival in 2015 Russia, Ozark Shorts 2016 in the USA
and so on. Has done many projects as a director/writer
including short films, music videos, and corporate brand films
and given voice over for a few of them. Currently, he is writing
for a web series which will go into production next year.

in this world and to explore that tiny/mighty corner she
occupies. Detour is her first film as a Writer-Director.

Mumbai) with cinematography as his specialisation.
KAAFIRON KI NAMAAZ was his maiden film which he wrote
and directed after film school (link to the trailer/film attached

festivals.

Synopsis:

Mirza friend Ghalib is a story of talented creative
professionals who strongly believe in their choices in life despite
having drowned in fathomless world of anonymity. The film deals
with conflicts between expression and entertainment in a film
maker, a media professionals pursuit of a viable plot for a web
series based on artists lost in anonymity and the demolition of a
slum of street artists to make way for urban development; all
culminating in a singular crescendo celebrating individual artistic

About the director:

Anupam Sen Gupta is a debutant filmmaker. A 50-year-old
professional music producer and a sonic branding practitioner
with three decades of professional experience. He is a member of
the Screenwriters’ Association, Mumbai and has authored a
collection of shorts called ‘The Colours of Sound’ published
internationally by Partridge India. Anupam and his team have
produced music/sound for over 50 short films, documentaries,
animation films, and a feature film. He made his debut film,
‘Mirza’s Friend Ghalib’ as a Writer and Director.

Domee Shi is a Chinese-born Canadian storyboard artist

and director for Pixar since 2011. She has contributed to
multiple films, including Inside Out (2015), Incredibles 2
(2018), and Toy Story 4 (2019). Outside of her storyboard
career, Shi directed the 2018 short film Bao, becoming the
first woman to direct a short film for Pixar. Bao won an
Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 91st
Academy Awards, and also earned nominations for the 43rd
Annie Awards, the International Online Cinema Awards, and
the Tribeca Film Festival.

CHASING STARS 18 mins | Kaubru, Hindi | India

ANANYA ROY

Synopsis:

Chasing Stars is a two-part documentary series featuring
children of Reang tribe from Kashirampara (Tripura, North East
India). The film is by The Akshaya Patra Foundation to support the
Great India Talent Foundation and Great India Talent School.

The first part of the film explores the lives of the Reang
children on the hills of Kashirampara, their education at Great
India Talent School (GITS) and their meaningful aspirations that
are heart-warming. In the second part of the film, the children
embark on a new journey. They visit exciting and educational
places in Bangalore as a part of the school’s National Integration
Project which is designed to provide children new learning
experiences.

The Reang tribe (also known as Bru) is one of the largest
communities in the country but also displaced since 1995. To
provide quality education to the rural communities in the country,
Great India Talent Foundation set up its first school in
Kashirampara in 2016 to make free education accessible to the
Reang children, children who are eager to learn and chase the
stars.
