Dear DMDAS Class of 2020!
The Winter Olympics brings together different people and teams from around the
world to work towards a common goal—becoming Olympic champions. This year’s
DMDAS Class of 2020 Orientation Program theme is Winter Olympics. We are
happy that you have decided to become a part of our dental community champions!

that will help you start your UIC COD journey in the right direction. You will have the
opportunity to learn strategies on adjusting to dental school successfully. The sessions
will provide valuable information about our policies, programs and services we have in
place to promote a healthy environment, supportive of student success.
This guide will provide the following information:
-Orientation agenda
-Welcome from the Deans

Additionally, during orientation you will learn tips from the upperclassmen who will
serve as your guide during your time here. The Student and Diversity Affairs teams
will be available ready to answer any questions you may have.
Again, welcome! We are overjoyed to have you as part of our community.
Sincerely,
Office of Student and Diversity Affairs

vital part of everyone’s educational experiences and represents a foundation of professionalism. The
College of Dentistry has a strong and vibrant research culture. Our laboratories study the diverse
clinical, community, and basic research problems that address dental health and extend to the general
wellness of our communities. Our research enterprise is dependent on dedicated efforts of very
bright set of faculty, many of whom hold leadership roles in dental research worldwide. In addition, the
College of Dentistry is fortunate to possess new laboratories with state of the art equipment. This
enriched research environment allows us to engage many students. It is my hope that many of you will
find excitement and great interest in being part of our research activities. Please reach out to me, our
