Speech Teacher Speech 2023 Shalom. Good morning sister and brother in Christ. I feel very happy to congratulate the Organizing Comittee for its hard work in getting the Teacher's Day celebration today a rality. About two months ago, the Government announced sizeable budget for restoring dilapidated school buildings. I see that our Archdiocesan Education Comission has fervently requested our catholic school to process the application and begin monitoring them. This is good news and everyone welcome it. By and large, the government policy align with our catholoc School Board's commitment to excellence and shared priority of "placing Christ and teachings of the Catholic Church at the centre " of student learning experiances. Today, on Teacher's Day we recognize and celebrate the teachers in our catholic school. As St John Paul II says: "No Catholic school can be effective without dedicated Catholic teachers -convinced of the great ideal of Catholic education". All of us have had teachers from kindergarten though primary and secondary school to college and university. In my postgraduate study in management, a lecturer said to us : " Education is what is left in you have studied is forgotten". This seems to me to shed light on the gospel of St Luke and Act of Apostles that I studied in St Mary's Secondary School in Limbahau Papar. Incidentally it was taught by Rev Fr.Goodheart. It builds a strong godly character that we own as we journey on the pilgrimage of our life on this planet. Half way from this pilgrimage I came across John 4:24 " God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and thruth." I am pleased to share with you what Jerome Biblical Commentary says about worship in Spirit and truth. Though the importance of the cultic site has relativized, worship has not. John understands "Spirit" to be the Spirit of God., which purifies the believer and is a permenant posession. God's truth can also be spoken of as purifying the sinfulness and perversity of humanity. For John, Jesus is the truth, since he is revelation of God. The discourse reaches its conclusion when the women suggests that Jesus might be the Missianic prophet and Jesus responds "I am". The basis for true worship in the Johannine community is the confession of Jesus as prophet, Messiah, Saviour of the world and equal to God. As the mission of the catholic school is to help the local youtha may his good news be procalimed and be planted as the mustard seeds into thier hearts by the good hands of our teachers. He looked all round him, but as it was now late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve. Next day as they were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry. Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but when he came up to it he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he addressed the fig tree. May no one ever eat fruit from you again he said. And his disciples heat him say this. So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the temple and began driving out those who were selling and buying there, he upset the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling pigeons. Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. And he taught them and said, Does not scripture say : May house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples? But you have turned it into a robbers den. This came to the ears of the chief priests and the scribes . And they tried to find some way of doing away with him they were afraid of him because the people were carried away by his teaching. And when evening came he went out of the city. Next morning , as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots. Peter remembered, Look, Rabbi he said to Jesus ‘the fig tree you cursed has withered away. Jesus answered , ‘Have faith in God . I tell you solemnly if anyone says to this mountain, Get up and throw yourself into the sea, with no hesitation in his heart but believing that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. I tell you therefore everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it will be yours. And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, so that you Father in heaven may forgive your failings too. Therefore, helping us to carry out our responsibility as God’s ambassadors of the Catholic faith. FRUIT BASKET The fruits are symbolic if the fruits of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. These are the fruits that we bear when we are obedient to God. VEGETABLE BASKET The sources of minerals, vitamins, water and roughage that are important protective food for the maintenance of health and prevention of disease. Eat more greens for a healthy life. WINE Wine is symbolic of blood and the blood is symbolic of life. This reminds us to participate in Christ’s life for he has died so we may live. ANGPOWS The angpows signify our hard-earned income that we must always offer up as a assign of the prosperity given by God, and the charitable act that we must always give to the needy and to the Church. 17
