Reflections Of Life

Alice Burton Alexander was born July 7, 1936, in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi to Ida
Mae Burton and Ward Daniel Burton.

Alice was eager to express her love for Christ. She was baptized in 1946 by the late
Rev. L.D. Sanders and she was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for
seventy-one years. In December 2016 she relinquished her role as a teacher in the Junior
Department to become a student in the Corrine Bowen Sunday School Class in the
Adult Department. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Gold Circle Club,
BTU, the Hospitality Ministry, President of the Mt. Zion Seniors and served on man

committees as a chair and a participant.

Alice attended Florida Street Elementary School and graduated from Booker T.
Washington High School in 1957. She retired from Cleo Wrap after working there for
25yrs. Refusing to sit still, she became the Administrative Assistant for the church. Her
willingness to assist kept her quite busy in the Business Office directing visitors and

vendors, checking on sick and shut in members, to keeping the Auxiliaries and
Ministries informed of events and changes, to securing speakers for her beloved Seniors

as well as keeping the Pastor updated on church members.

She married the late L.C. Alexander on August 5, 1972. Although no children were
born to this union, you could not tell with the love of her nieces and nephews and the

children she taught in the Junior Department.

Mrs. Alexander departed this life on Thursday February 15, 2018, at Methodist
University Hospital.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Mary L. Tinnon; one step-daughter,
Pamela McDonald Cox; two sister-in-laws, Lizzie Donald and Dora Cummings; seven

nieces, Regina Tinnon, Pamela Moore (Ronald), Tanya Edwards, LaTasha Tinnon,
Wandria Williams (Byron), Michelle Hardy (Jimmy), Angela Bowen; two nephews,

Tommie Burton and Ryan Burton; five great-nieces, Brittany Coleman, Candice
Coleman, LeMeka Harris, Erika Jones, Quinique James; two great-nephews, Antonio

Edwards, Justin Bowen, and a host of great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and
friends that will remember her dearly.

Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor
his seed begging bread.
