Making our mark
The Diamond Plus mark is a new element of the HCA Healthcare logo, and
it has unique significance. Diamonds represent a lifelong commitment and
are most valuable when clear—much like HCA Healthcare's clarity in its
commitment to provide patients the care they deserve. In fact, the
diamond in the center represents the patients we serve.
The four avenues around the diamond are the unique benefits
HCA Healthcare delivers to our patients:

October Daisy Award Honoree
Susan Tran, RN, BSN
I arrived at West Houston in extreme need of emergency medical assistance. I
was treated excellently in the ER. When I got to the 3rd floor, I was in severe
pain because of my disease (lupus) and having strong chest pain. My nurse
Susan was such an amazing nurse. She was on point, on time with my meds.
She attended to my every medical need, but there's one thing that I really want
to point out. She was caring from the heart. I was so depressed, and she pulled
my spirits up by speaking to me with positive words that I know came from the
heart. Not only is she a wonderful nurse, but she cares about her patients. To
me, she demonstrated that to be healed completely, you have to have the best
medical attention. But when you are treated by someone like Susan who cares
and loves her job and her patients, you heal
even faster. I want to thank her from the
bottom of my heart for bringing my hopes up
and I wish her all the luck in the world.

November Daisy Award Honoree
Melissa McCarty, RN, BSN, CVRN
Melissa was my cardiac intensive care nurse after I received a quad bypass.
Having not received this serious type of surgery, I was very scared of the
results. The doctor assured me that his staff would take good care of me. My
wife was also apprehensive about the surgery. While in ICU, Melissa was my
nurse for several days. She has a great ability to make you feel special. She has
the ability to know what you need before you even know it. Her care and touch
and happiness throughout the day makes you feel that you are the most
important patient at HCA. Melissa has not only
mastered the skill of nursing but has
demonstrated the gift of care and sensitivity
that patients need in this serious time in their
life.

November All Star of the Month
Dina Serpas, EVS Tech
Interviewer: “Dina, first congratulations on being named the November All Star of the
Month! You have demonstrated an excellent customer service. We are proud to have
you here at HCA West.”
Interviewer: “When you’re not here at the hospital, what do you like to do in your free
time?”
Dina: “I like shopping and visiting friends. Even though I work in EVS, I enjoy cleaning
my house too. Most of all, I treasure the time I spend with my family. I have three
sons, a granddaughter and a grandson.
Interviewer: “What drives you to come to work every day?”
Dina: “I just enjoy the hospital environment. I like to be around patients and making
their stay here at West comfortable. I have been working here for 9 years and I love
every minute of it. “
Interviewer: “Thank you Dina for all you have done for this hospital. We appreciate
your service to our patients. May you continue to find happiness and success both at
work and in your personal life.”

What Our Patients Are Saying About Us
“I couldn’t have had a better healthcare experience than I did at HCA Houston
Healthcare West! Staff (Carolyn -RN, NP and the ER staff) took care of me.
They were wonderful and I cannot say enough nice things about my stay at HCA
Houston Healthcare West.”

“I had the most amazing experience at West Houston Medical Center! ALL the
providers who take care of me during my 3-day stay at the hospital were
professional, detailed, warm, and receptive. They gave updates promptly about
my medical status. Each provider answered my questions or referred me to a
colleague who was in a best position to do so. One of the nurses spent quality
time explaining the security measures in place at the hospital. My experience at
West Houston was superb! ? and I highly recommend this hospital to anyone
who requires a facility with the most distinguished team of healthcare
providers.”

“The staff was friendly and explained everything each step of the way.”

What Our Patients Are Saying About Us
“The most noticeable aspect of HCA Houston is the positive, attentive attitudes
of the staff. They all quickly lend aid above the ordinary. The radiology tech who
did my test took the time to walk me to my exit rather than just tell me how to
get there.”
Google -
“I love this hospital it's small and quaint. My dad had to have emergency
surgery on Monday on his stomach for a perforated bowel. The staff and
doctors have been excellent. The nursing staff has been helping him around
the clock. All the employees offer the same type of care and customer service.
Everyone is professional from the cleaning staff all the way to the surgeons.
I would absolutely recommend this facility.”
Google -
“I love West Houston Medical Center This has got to be the best hospital in
Houston all around! Nurses, doctors and staff are extremely friendly, wonderful
and very helpful. Truly this hospital is a one-of-kind! It takes many to form a
village, however, you've formed a hospital family and that is an
accomplishment! You've succeed in helping create a perfect bond between the
patient, the doctor and the hospital. West Houston Medical Center, don't
change a thing - you've got a winning formula.”
