Career Services Center

The Center provides resources to assist students in making decisions
about their careers and professional endeavors.

Career Coaches

There is a career counselor for each academic college on campus
(Business, Arts and Sciences, and Education). They provide assistance
with resumes and job applications, conduct mock interviews, and provide
information regarding the job market. They also provide assistance with
graduate and professional school planning.

Career Fairs

Representatives from business, industry, the military, education,
government and non-profit organizations attend the career fairs to
recruit students for prospective employment.

Resource Library

The Center maintains a library with resources on topics including career
matching, etiquette, interviewing, job searching, and job skills.

Clothes Closet

The Center maintains a closet with professional attire for students. The
clothes are free, and allow students to dress appropriately for interviews
where they otherwise might not have been able to do so.

Center for Personal Development

The Center provides programs and services that help students to deal
with emotional, psychological, and intellectual issues they might face.

Disabled Student Services

Fayetteville State University does not discriminate against students with
disabilities, and offers personal support to assist those students with
admission information, orientation, accessibility information, study skills
and testing techniques, and accommodations.

Substance Abuse Prevention Program

The Center aims to educate students about the negative consequences of
drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, and issues associated with the use of
those substances. A licensed counselor/substance abuse education
consultant will work with students who need assistance with substance
abuse issues, and refer students to off-campus facilities if appropriate.

Individual or group counseling

Students can meet with a counselor one-on-one or receive group
counseling for issues such as improving study skills, coping with
depression and anxiety, improving self-esteem, improving anger
management skills, eating disorders, stress management, roommate
conflicts, coping with grief, and relationship issues.

Ft. Bragg Center

The Center serves to address the specific needs and requirements unique
to members of the armed forces and their dependents.

Student Veteran’s Center

The Student Veteran's Center assists veterans, active duty, and reservists
as well as the dependents and survivors of each group with
understanding and receiving their educational benefits.

On-Base Programs and Courses

The Center facilitates online courses and degree-completion programs on
military bases across the state and the country that are accessible to
veterans, active duty military, and reservists.

Student Veteran's Association

The Student Veteran's Association facilitates peer-to-peer support to ease
the transition to the University and promote academic success.

The Office of Student Engagement sponsors activities and programs
geared at enhancing the personal, social, and emotional development of
students.

Cultural Programming

The Office of Student Engagement provides learning opportunities in the
arts by sponsoring campus performances by renowned artists, lectures,
master classes, workshops, and off-campus programs.

Commuter Student Services

The Office of Student Engagement aims to assist commuter students with
navigating the challenges that face them. These challenges include
balancing multiple roles, getting to campus, accessing resources on
campus, and having a sense of belonging within the campus community.

Student Clubs and Organizations

The Office oversees the various student organizations on campus
including student leadership and Greek-lettered organizations, honor
societies, and residence hall associations.

University College Learning Center

The Center provides academic resources to assist students who struggle
academically, or who just need support to ensure their academic success.

Math Support Center

The Math Support Center provides one-on-one tutoring for 100 and 200
level math courses.

Supplemental Instruction(SI)

SI is designed specifically for courses with high DFW rates. SI Leaders
attend the classes and provide three one-hour out of class tutoring
sessions to reinforce course information.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides students with feedback on written work and
writing strategies. Students work with a Writing Center professional or
peer tutor to improve their writing, or they can work independently,
using workbooks, information packets, and style manuals.

TRiO Student Support Services

TRiO serves students who are first generation students, from households
with modest income, or who have a disability. The program aims to
improve the retention and graduation of these groups of students by
providing academic support services and activities.

Office of Faculty Development

The Office of Faculty Development provides professional development
opportunities and resources to support the educational endeavors of
faculty, and promote innovative pedagogical and technological practices.

Canvas Learning Management System

The Office provides resources for developing and teaching courses in the
Canvas LMS. Resources include information on how to design a course,
course management, grading, and exporting form Blackboard into
Canvas.

Training

One-on-one and small-group training for developing and teaching face-to-
face, hybrid, and online courses is available. The Office also provides
technological training and support, tools and support for teaching and
learning, and a faculty mentoring program to support new faculty.

Online and Hybrid Instructor Certification

Online and hybrid instructor certification program which includes
training in the learning management system, developing and online or
hybrid course, and completing the Quality Matters course review process.

Information Technology and Telecommunications Services

Information Technology and Telecommunications Services (ITTS)
provides training for programs and services offered to support University
employees.

Banner training

ITTS provides training in the different aspects of Banner including
Internet Native Banner, Astra, WebFocus, XPTR Exporter, and
XtenderSolutions.

Microsoft Office 365 Training

ITTS provides training in Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. One-on-one and small-group training is
also available in technological resources available through the University
including Adobe Acrobat Pro, iPad basics, PC essentials, and
SmartBoards. ITTS makes on-demand training in areas such as Microsoft
Office, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, networking, and project management
tools available via Skillsoft.

Help Desk

Technical assistance is available 24/7for users of FSU’s supported
software, hardware, and technological infrastructure.

Research and Technology Transfer Office

The Research and Technology Transfer Office at Fayetteville State
University promotes collaboration, innovation, technology transfer,
partnership, and supports economic development.

Technology Transfer

Technology Transfer services include the transfer of technology or ideas
from place to place (this includes the transfer of research data both too
and from FSU, whether grant funded or non-funded), commercialization
of technology, commercial licensing, and patenting.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

All individuals wishing to conduct research as a member of the FSU
community or at FSU must complete the required trainings and submit
an application and gain approval from the appropriate committee.

Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP)

The OSRP provides assistance with identifying funding opportunities and
developing structures for targeting these opportunities, developing the
framework for proposals and their submission, (IRB) administration,
compliance, export control, technology transfer and insertion, and
educational program, policy and procedure development.
