นอกจากจะเปน็ นกั ธรุ กจิ ทมี่ ชี อ่ื เสยี งแลว้ ชยั โรจน์ มหาดาํ รงคก์ ลุ ยงั เปน็ ชา่ งภาพมอื รางวลั ระดบั โลก ตดิ อนั ดบั World Top Ten หลายครงั้
และมุ่งม่ันแข่งขันจนสามารถกวาดรางวัลการถ่ายภาพมากมายในประเทศไทย เช่น ถ้วยรางวัลรวมยอดเยี่ยม และคะแนนรวมยอดเย่ียม
ในการประกวดภาพถ่ายท่ัวประเทศ คร้ังที่ 19 พ.ศ.2543 จากสมาคมถ่ายภาพแห่งประเทศไทยในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ กวาดรางวัลในประเทศ
มากจนได้ถูกเชิญไปเป็นกรรมการตัดสินการแข่งขันในประเทศแทน ชัยโรจน์จึงมุ่งไปแข่งขันในต่างประเทศจนสามารถ ครอบครอง
P.S.A. 5 Stars (5 ดาวจากสมาคมถ่ายภาพแห่งอเมริกา (P.S.A.)) ในปี พ.ศ. 2552

ผลงานตลอดระยะเวลากว่า 70 ปีของ ชัยโรจน์ มหาดํารงค์กุล ที่แบกกล้องตระเวนไปตามสถานท่ีต่างๆ ทั้งในประเทศและนอกประเทศ
เพ่ือถา่ ยภาพในแบบ Pictorial Art (Picture tells the story) เกบ็ ภาพ เกบ็ บรรยากาศ เกบ็ วถิ ชี วี ติ ผคู้ น วฒั นธรรม ทแ่ี ตกตา่ งกนั ไปตามทอ้ งถน่ิ
ต่าง ๆ ด้วยความประณีตบรรจง บอกเล่าเรื่องราว นับพั นนับหม่ืนเรื่องราวท่ีรายล้อมอยู่รอบตัวเขาในช่วงเวลาและสถานท่ีต่าง ๆ ดังกล่าว
ผา่ นความรกั ประสบการณ์ และความชาํ่ ชอง ในมมุ มองทม่ี เี พียง ชยั โรจน์ มหาดาํ รงคก์ ลุ เทา่ นนั้ ทส่ี ามารถถา่ ยทอดออกมา ใหส้ ะกดใจ สะกดสายตา

Chairod Mahadumrongkul

Chairod Mahadumrongkul is a world-renowned, freelance photographer who started an illustrious photographic
journey at 10, when he received his first camera - a Kodak Brownie - as a gift from his brother. He then learned basic
photography with ‘Tuk Meng’, his first teacher, at the Vichitchumlong photography studio. He later made a promise
to his brother to study hard and be in the first five ranking in class in order to receive his dream camera. By the age
of 15, he finally won the promise to obtain a best-in-class camera - a Leica IIIg - and has been capturing unforgettable
memories and invaluable moments in time since.

Chairod first began his formal studies in photography at the St. Martin’s School of Art while pursuing a concurrent
engineering degree at the External College, United Kingdom. The two passions would beautifully overlap throughout his
long-standing career as both an accomplished businessman and a decorated photographer. This is evident in the
recognition that he has earned as Chairod has collected numerous accolades in photography — from winning royal
trophies such as the best in overall points at the National Photography Award in 2000 to being invited to become an
honorary judge at various domestic competitions instead of being a candidate himself, allowing him to shift his focus
to the international photography arena instead. He was then consistently placed in the world's top 10 and had won
several major photography competitions globally, eventually being awarded the highly prestigious 5-Star Badge from
the Photographic Society of America (P.S.A.) in 2009.

Chairod Mahadumrongkul and his 70 years’ worth of work perfectly capture what is called a ‘Pictorial Art’
(Picture tells the story). Through commuting around various places in Thailand and abroad, Chairod has taken precious
photographs that record the atmosphere, lifestyle, and multifaceted cultures of thousands of people in a way that
captures their stories of hardship, wisdom, and love. All of these impressions have allowed Chairod to produce
a mesmerizing collection of snapshots that he hopes would touch others in the way that they have touched his heart.
It is with the ultimate hope that Chairod can tell the younger generation about these valuable histories, so that they
too have a chance to appreciate how things have come to be, and eventually can preserve and pass on these moments
of humanity to others for years to come.
