58 Northeast of Goodhue Memorial Hall is Raymond Hall, the building most recently transformed and reconstructed. Raymond Hall includes classrooms, faculty offices, department centers, and faculty housing. In addition, the office for the upper school head is located at the main entrance on the first floor. The connection between Raymond Hall and Goodhue Memorial Hall is Kroeger Arch which, together with the adjacent winding staircase, establishes a tie between the main quadrangle and the elongated valley of Akin Common. The second level of Kroeger Arch is devoted to faculty offices and a student lounge. These spaces look out over Akin Common and the main quadrangle. Raymond Hall and the Main Quadrangle Site plan of showing connection between the main quad and Akin Common “Walter was always supportive of the ‘business’ aspects of development and construction, recognizing the push and pull between costs and dreams, and changes that occur as construction proceeds.” --Peter McAndrew

60 “Throughout the design process, there were times that Walter might wonder aloud if the windows were adequate, or if the façade would look better in stone, or if a detail in an arch was correct. Walter was very sensitive to blending the century-old structures on campus with the new buildings, which would themselves be a part of Hackley for centuries.“ -- Phil Variano Kroeger Arch south elevation Kroeger Arch north elevation New stair tower on the north side of Raymond Hall Right: Kroeger Arch from the main quad
