Child Education Society, the apex body of Bal Bharati Public Schools all over the country, was set up in the
year 1944 during the pre-independence era with an aim to preserve and foster Indian culture, heritage,
tradition and ethos to uphold the vision of our elders. In order to achieve these objectives, it became
obligatory for the Society to educate the young people. Thus, the Society was registered under the
Registration of Societies Act, 1860.
The affairs of the Society are managed by the Board of Management consisting of eminent educationists
and social workers. It is headed by Mr. Nikhil Channa, a distinguished educationist and philanthropist, as the
President of the Society. The Society, at present runs 27 institutions which include 14 core schools, 12 Project
schools in collaboration with the Indian Railways and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and 1
Activity Centre at Solan. Bal Bharati Public Schools are progressive, co-educational English medium schools.
Hindi enjoys its place of pride as the National Language in the school curriculum.
The schools built by the Society are set in congenial surroundings. They are housed in modern attractive
buildings which are internet enabled and equipped with all requisite facilities, well stocked libraries,
laboratories, computers, audio - visual equipment, facilities for creative arts, indoor as well as outdoor
games and swimming pools.
Bal Bharati’s educational philosophy is inspired by the maxim “आ नो भद्रा: क्रतवो यन्तुववश्वत:” that is, “Let noble
thoughts come to us from all sides.” The school provides comprehensive education keeping in view the
country’s rich heritage and cultural background, and provides a plethora of opportunities for the

About the School
The school, founded in the year 1944, is the oldest among the chain of 27 educational institutions
established by the Society. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and is also
permanently recognized by the Delhi Administration. It has two campuses, one at Ganga Ram Hospital
Marg, for Class IV to XII; and the other at Pusa Road for Pre- School & Pre- Primary (Montessori) to Class III.
The school has 5060 students on its rolls, in the session 2021- 22.

Since the inception of the school, owing to its progressive outlook, and excellence in academics as well as
co-curricular activities, its chronicles are consistently being enriched with glorious achievements and
laudable laurels, year after year. It is noteworthy that the school was amongst the foremost schools to be

Administration
The School Managing Committee is headed by Mr. Nikhil Channa as Chairman. Mr. L V Sehgal is the
Principal and Ms. Meenu Goswami (Principal, BBPS, Pitam Pura) is the Secretary (Manager). The Principal is
supported by Mrs. Meena Malhotra, Vice Principal; Mrs. Poonam Sondhi, Headmistress (Middle); Mrs. Reetu
Dawar, Headmistress (PR); Mrs. Neelam Ahuja, Headmistress (Mont.); Mrs. Sapna Bahl, Chief Coordinator
Primary (GR) as well as a team of experienced and qualified teaching and administrative staff along with
dedicated transport and support staff.

Staff
The school has 196 highly qualified, experienced teachers for imparting education and guidance to
students. Staff members regularly attend workshops to update and hone their teaching skills as well as to
mentor the students effectively. Staff members are encouraged and supported to pursue online courses to
enhance professional competence. In addition, the school’s functioning is further enhanced with the help
of the contractual staff, office staff, and the support staff.
Infrastructure
School Campus
The total covered area of the two school building complexes
at Ganga Ram Hospital Marg and at Pusa Road is around 2
lac sq ft. There are six multi-storeyed blocks, one for
Montessori, two for Primary (one each at Pusa Road & GRH
Marg), and one block each for Middle, Secondary and Senior
Secondary Department. These blocks have spacious
classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, computer rooms, 3-D
labs, audio visual room, libraries, language lab and rooms for
creative activities such as art, painting, music, dance, etc.
Both the complexes at GRH Marg and Pusa Road have vast
open spaces for assembly and sports activities. The school
has elevators, ramps etc to promote inclusivity.
Solar panels are fitted at GR Campus. Tube lights have been
replaced by energy saving LED. Power back up facility is
available 24 X 7. In an endeavour to ‘GO GREEN’, the school
has fully functional Rain water Harvesting Systems, and a
Herbal Garden. Plantation and Cleanliness drives are a
regular feature in the school. Waterless urinals and Push
button taps have been fitted to conserve water. RO filtered
drinking water is available in both the campuses.
Auditorium
The school has a modern aesthetically designed, centrally air-conditioned auditorium. It is equipped with
modern acoustics and lighting systems and can accommodate about 350 persons. The auditorium is used
for various intra school and inter school competitions and events. In addition, it is also a venue for various
workshops, seminars and conferences. The auditorium is Wi-Fi enabled. The GR Campus also has an
amphitheatre.
Laboratories
The school has well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology,
Psychology, Meal Planning, and 3-D Learning Lab as well as Atal Tinkering Lab. These laboratories give the
students extensive practical experience to supplement the theories learnt in the classroom. The Senior
Physics Lab is equipped with an interactive board while the Sr. Computer Lab has 3-D interactive boards.
Art Rooms
There are different Art Rooms in the school to cater to the needs of different departments. The Art Rooms
have aesthetically designed furniture; easels and projector with screen. These rooms, tastefully decorated
with drawings, paintings and artefacts prepared by the students are creative hubs for students to express
and hone their artistic abilities.
Music and Dance Rooms
The school has well-equipped rooms for Vocal Music, Instrumental Music and Dance at both the campuses
wherein the students are trained in various performing arts.
In addition, there is a fully equipped recording studio ‘Dhwani’; and a Band Room at the GR Campus.
Libraries
The school has three well-equipped libraries. The two libraries at GR Campus are air-conditioned. Each
library has a large regularly updated stock of books including Encyclopaedias, Reference Books, Fiction,
Motivational books, and Biographies, besides a number of dailies, magazines and journals etc. Each of the
three libraries is equipped with projector and screen. In addition, e-readers and laptops are available for
students and staff. All libraries have Wi-Fi connectivity. The system of bar coding has been implemented in
the libraries to facilitate the accession process and the stock taking. The libraries are equipped with modern
and colourful décor and digital resources. The recently renovated senior library, with its modern interiors and
state-of-the art furniture is a treasure trove of a wide range of books and journals that are regularly updated
every year. The library is digitised, making it easy for students to access its enriching resources.
The school has also introduced the system of Classroom Library from Class I to Class VIII. These well-
equipped Class Libraries consist of adequate copies of 10-15 titles at least, that are carefully chosen, to
cater to the specified age- group and provide a wide variety as well. Every fortnight, each child is issued a
book from the class library, in addition to those borrowed from the Departmental Library. In-house Libraries
for reference purpose have also been set up in Science and Computer Laboratories of the Senior
Department.
Games and Sports
The school takes special care of Physical Health and Games & Sports activities by providing the required
facilities and coaches for athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, gymnastics, karate, roller skating,
swimming, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, yoga, rope skipping and chess. State-of-the-art Basket
Ball Court and Tennis Court and a modern air-conditioned gymnasium are all available in the school
premises. A new cricket pitch has been developed at Pusa Road Campus.
The school has a swimming pool as well as a skating rink at its GR campus and also at the PR campus, both.
Besides Annual Sports Display, Sports Day is held for different classes on different days to ensure 100%
participation of students in Sports Activities.
Monthly sports activities for Pre School, Pre Primary, and Classes I to III as well as intra class matches for
Classes IV to XII in different games are held regularly.
The Activity Centre at BBPS, Solan (H.P.) gives every student the opportunity of participating in various kinds
of adventure sports and enjoy the benefits of community living.
Medical Room
The school has a Medical Room at each of its two campuses i.e. GRH Marg and Pusa Road. These are
equipped to deal with emergencies as well as routine health related issues. There is a full-time doctor and a
nurse available during school hours, in the Medical Room. In case of an emergency, the student is
immediately transferred to the Ganga Ram Hospital. A periodical medical check-up is conducted for each
student, and its record is maintained and shared with the parents.
Language Room
Under the aegis of Goethe Institute, Max Mueller
Bhavan, New Delhi, the school has been provided
with a well-equipped language room. The Audio-
Visual System and the other teaching aids enrich
the teaching- learning process by making it more
interactive and student-centered. PASCH has also
provided more than 1000 books for the school
library. These books cover a wide range of topics
for all the levels(A1- B2) and include Easy Readers,
Grammar, Vocabulary and picture books etc.
IT Enabled Classrooms
The school provides computer-aided learning to all students and both the campuses are internet enabled.
There are four computer labs, one each for Primary Pusa Road; Primary GR Campus; Middle; and
Secondary & Senior Secondary classes. These air-conditioned labs are well equipped with the latest
generation of computers and printers. Primary GR Campus and Middle computer labs have the latest
computers to meet the changing technological needs. CRISP (Consortium for Research and Innovation in
School Pedagogy), an online connected classroom portal empowers Primary Department teachers and
learners, to share digitized information and access classroom lessons from anywhere with the ease of a
click.
Classrooms are well equipped with the latest interactive panels to enhance the quality of teaching and
learning. A whole range of course material incorporating the CBSE syllabus with graphics, diagrams,
illustrations, and animations in 3D format is available. In addition, the libraries, and labs are also equipped
with computers. Additionally, 100 tabs loaded with Funtoot and Khan Academy modules are available for
students to practice Maths and Science. A specialized 3-DProjection System is used by students of all classes
for Science and Math. The school is a part of Microsoft Aspire School Program (MASP) and uses licensed
software of latest version in all IT enabled devices.
Resource Rooms
The school has well-equipped Resource Rooms for teachers, both at the GR & PR Campus. This facility,
complete with internet connectivity, printer and scanner, enables teachers to research, prepare and
enhance resources for effective teaching.
Safety and Security Measures
All measures are taken by the school authorities to ensure safety and security of students and staff
members. The supervision of the campus is aided by the closed-circuit TVs and Public Address System. Fire-
fighting readiness is also in place. Visitor Management System is used to monitor the entry of the visitors to
the school. Scattered dispersal plan for safe and smooth departure of students is followed. School has
constituted a Sexual Harassment Committee to ensure immediate action on any untoward incident. Safety
and Security of the students being the primary goal, a specially constituted team practices monthly safety
walks within and around school premises. These safety marches ensure a regular check on unforeseen
hazards. All school buses are fitted with CCTV Cameras, GPS tracking system and speed governors. Parents
of Bus Users have been provided with an App to monitor the location of Bus enroute and estimate the time
of arrival at their bus stop. Teachers are put on bus duty on all routes regularly. Lady guards are deployed in
the school buses and premises. The school security system works 24X7.
Covid Protocol
It is being ensured that post COVID, educational settings are welcoming, respectful, inclusive, and provide
supportive environment to all. All measures are being taken by the school to prevent the spread of COVID-
19 by students and staff. These include:
• Regular disinfection of school premises which include Classrooms, Labs, Libraries, Sports arenas, Play
Ground and other areas of the school.
• Screening visitors, employees including teachers, and students with thermal scanners / temperature
guns upon entry, followed by the use of hand-sanitizers, generously available at all strategic points in
the school premises.
• Ensuring Covid-19 appropriate behaviour by all in the school premises, including social distancing,
and wearing of masks, at all times.
• Awareness is being generated regarding Covid-19 safe behaviour through posters, which are
prominently displayed in classrooms and corridors of the school.
• All staff members are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Disaster Management
The school has a well-defined disaster management plan. Students are sensitized to the discipline involved
in the mitigation and management of risks related to pre and post disaster scenarios. The Disaster
Management Committee organizes routine drills in evacuation; conducts awareness workshops; and
arranges lecture-demonstrations for staff and students. Evacuation routes have been precisely chalked out
and signages are well displayed. Fire-fighting equipment has been provided strategically at various points
in the school campus.
Academics
Excellence in academics is the hallmark of the school. ICT based teaching was incorporated for curriculum-
transaction even prior to the lockdown in March 2020. Accordingly, our transition to online teaching was
seamless, quick, and effective. Presently, hybrid teaching is being practised efficiently, to the satisfaction of
all stakeholders.
Pre School/ Pre Primary
At the Pre-Primary level, educational programmes based on Montessori philosophy and methods are
followed. There are 20 spacious fully furnished air-conditioned training halls, where the tiny tots learn in an
informal way at the various Learning Centres, with the help of specially designed apparatus under the
supervision and guidance of trained and experienced teachers. Special attention is paid to facilitate the
physical, mental, emotional, and social growth of the child through a series of well-coordinated activities
and specially designed activity rooms such as a gym, dramatics room, art room, and dance room. These
rooms are designed for smooth conduct of the plethora of activities facilitated by the school. The
Department follows no-homework approach and every child is allowed to progress at his/her own pace.
Primary
At this stage, the children are formally introduced to academic subjects, such as English, Hindi, Maths, EVS,
Social Studies and General Science. Emphasis is laid on balanced and harmonious development through a
judicious mix of Academics, Creative Art, Physical Education, Yoga, Educational Tours, Excursions and
outings. Integrated approach to teaching is practised and state-of-the-art interactive learning aids &
systems are used to optimize learning, keeping in mind the varied interests and learning levels of the
children. To inculcate team spirit, enhance self-esteem and facilitate the process of teaching-learning,
Theatre in Education serves as a significant tool. Hands-on activities further foster and develop the essential
21stCentury skills like Problem-solving and Critical thinking. Art Integrated Learning is used as a pedagogical
tool for joyful experiential learning in classrooms and imbibing the Indian ethos through integration of Indian
Art and Culture in teaching - learning process. Inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals,
Environmental Awareness activities are organised to make the students aware of the various environmental
challenges such as climate crisis, desertification, loss of biodiversity, water scarcity etc., thereby making
them informed & responsible global citizens of tomorrow.
Middle
Here, learning is an extension and further consolidation of the educational programme that starts at the
Primary stage. Premium education is offered to the students through the medium of interactive panels that
make learning easy and fun. The classrooms have separate safe entry and easy exit doors to ensure safety
of students. Besides the academic subjects, a third language is taught from Class VI to VIII.A structured Life
Skill Programme is run for all students. Students are encouraged to participate in Creative Arts such as
Dance, Drama, Music and Craft. Regular assessments are held over two examination terms with special
emphasis on Subject Enrichment Activities and Notebook Appraisal. Flipped Classroom, an innovative
instructional strategy that reverses the traditional learning environment, forms the basis of all teaching-
learning. Intelligent Interactive Panels (IIP) have been installed in all the classrooms augmenting
collaborative learning experience. A newly renovated Art Room provides a conducive environment for
artistic pursuits of young learners.
Secondary
Students are assessed as per the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education. Regular Periodic
Tests and Subject Enrichment Activities ensure evaluation of both scholastic and co-scholastic areas.
Senior Secondary
At the plus two level, Science, Commerce, Humanities and Vocational Streams are offered along with
English Core. The Science stream offers PCM group with Biology/Computer Science/Engineering
Drawing/Physical Education/ Psychology. In the Commerce Stream, the students have an option of
studying Advanced Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics with or without Mathematics. The
Vocational Stream offers Front Office Management.
Foreign Languages
Education aims being broad-based and eclectic, the knowledge of a foreign language is always
considered an added qualification. The school has provision for teaching German & French language at
the Middle and Secondary levels.
Co-scholastic Activities
Varied activities are available. These include Computer Skills, Art & Craft, Dance, Vocal Music, Instrumental
Music, Dramatics, Yoga and School Band for boys and girls respectively.
NCC
The school has set up Junior National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit, under the aegis of Directorate of NCC,
Ministry of Defence with a purpose to create proficient and self-driven youth with Leadership qualities. 51
boys and 25 girls from class VIII enrolled for the Junior National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit programme at the
school for the session 2021-22. The programme is offered to the students with an aim to inculcate skills such
as self-confidence, collaboration and adaptability.
Academic Achievement
The school, which is one of the founder members of the ‘National Progressive Schools Conference’ is known
for its high academic standard, evident from the outstanding performance of the students at the All-India
Examinations. Every year a number of students distinguish themselves by gaining admission to reputed
institutions such as IITs, DTU, Regional Colleges of Engineering, AIIMS, Delhi School of Planning and
Architecture, Mass Media Communication and National Law Universities etc. Results of the school in Class X
and XII Board Examinations have always been of a high order.
Promotion of Life Skills
Counselling
The school provides counselling in the following areas:
a) Counselling for students - We aim at a preventive approach to counselling. In this regard,
the Life Skills Program at school covers aspects such as decision making and assertiveness
training, for students of Classes V-X. It is conducted by the Counsellor and by Peer Moderators.
Structured outsourced life skills programmes are also conducted. In addition, Career Counselling
sessions through various seminars and career talks are conducted regularly for students at 10+2
level, thereby enabling students to make informed career choices.
b) Plan for Special Children- The school has a well-defined counselling plan for students with
special needs. Special children (students with Learning Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, Slow Learners etc.) are identified by class teachers using a referral form. The team of
Special Educators and the Counsellor then proceeds with the intervention as per the severity of
the problem. Individual teaching plans are chalked out and executed. The child’s progress is
constantly monitored.
Education programmes, such as ‘Samanvya’, a special programme focussing on English
language Skills of these students, ensures enhancements of their language competencies
c) Counselling for Teachers - Workshops are organized for professional enrichment of faculty
members as well as to sensitize them to various issues pertaining to students such as identification
of special children, behavioural concerns etc.
d) Counselling for Parents - Counselling is provided to parents in order to inform them about
the innovative educational programs and other issues related to their respective wards.
Value Education Programme
The school believes in inculcating values among students for their holistic development. In addition to
Theme-based Morning Assembly programmes, activities of Heritage Club and celebration of national and
international days, the Awakened Citizen Programme is being run in school in association with Rama Krishna
Mission, New Delhi.
Newspaper in Education Programme
The NIE Program of the school is aimed at empowering the young learners to be responsible global citizens
of tomorrow. The Program encourages them to read newspapers regularly so as to be aware of social,
economic and political scenario within the country and around the world.
The school has been a regular member of the PACE Program of ‘The Hindustan Times’, the Newspaper in
the Education (NIE) programme of ‘The Times of India’ as well as ‘The Hindu. With an aim to educate and
empower the parents for effective parenting, the school has also initiated subscription to the popular
magazine ‘Parents’ World’ for the parents.
Clubs
The school has a number of clubs as a part of the life skills program, each initiated to fulfill numerous
secondary objectives, like the development of the skills needed for life such as communication, decision–
making, critical thinking, managing emotions, assertiveness, self–esteem building, resisting peer pressure,
and relationship skills but with a common primary objective which is to bring education closer to life.

Minimum Fitness Programme
Under the aegis of the Sports Council (CES) the school has implemented the Minimum Fitness Programme
under which cycling in Pre-School and Pre-Primary classes, and swimming upto class V, are compulsory for
all students. Each child is encouraged to play minimum two games. In addition, intra class matches are
held, specialized coaching in different games is provided, the health of each child is assessed, and fitness
cards are issued.
Workshops and Seminars
A wide array of workshops is regularly organized for students, teachers and parents that not only
help to give a hands-on experience but also motivate and inspire the learners to be worthy human
beings.
Workshops for Students- Various workshops on career options, personality development,
appropriate behaviour/value-based issues, MUN Training, Cyber Crime, Road Rage etc. are
organized for the benefit of students.
Workshops for Teachers– To create a spirit of enquiry among the faculty members and keep
them abreast of changing paradigms, in-service training programs, capacity building workshops
and professional development programmes are a regular feature.
Workshops for Parents– To keep the parents updated on changing patterns of the
Education System and help them deal with age specific issues, workshops are organized.
House System
The students of the school are divided into eight Houses, each at the Primary, Middle, Secondary
and Senior Secondary level. The House is managed by Housemasters. The Housemasters select
House Captains, Assistant House Captains and Sports Captains. It is compulsory for each student to
be a member of a House. The main idea of the House System is to inculcate in our students the
essential qualities of leadership, teamwork, co-operation, mutual understanding and self-reliance.
Various inter-house activities are held for this purpose throughout the year. In addition, each House
in every department is allotted a theme on which the students present the morning assembly
programme as per schedule.
The various houses are Abhimanyu, Ashoka, C.V. Raman, Jawahar, Mother Teresa, Shastri, Shivaji
and Subhash.
Student Council
A Student Council is constituted each year by each department and appointed via a formal
Investiture Ceremony. This team works closely with the authorities to support the institution in its
everyday functioning. This student body acts as a link between the teachers and the students and
also takes on the responsibility of guarding/leading the students appro priately. The core group of
this body of students comprises the main office bearers, namely the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy
Head Boys, Deputy Head Girls, Cultural Secretaries and Sports Captains. In addition, each
department selects a capable team of prefects.
School Publications
Sagarika (Annual)- The school publication, Sagarika has been for decades, a medium for
chronicling and communicating news and views of the school. Sagarika has some regular features,
wherein, a major section of the Magazine is reserved for creative compositions of the students.
Other Publications include - Student Diary, Teacher Daily Diary, Teacher Weekly
Planner, Teacher Handbook.
School Table Calendar- The school table calendar published every year acts as a ready

International Dimensions
The school aims at nurturing young students as global citizens through intra and inter school activities.
Students are familiarized with various cultures and lifestyles and get an exposure to global issues. Being a
consistent recipient of the International School Award, now referred to as International Dimensions in School,
an accreditation scheme of the British Council, firmly establishes the school’s success and excellence in
incorporating international dimension to the curriculum. International projects through Max Mueller Bhavan,
British Council and Australian High Commission have helped to create ties with Germany, the UK and
Australia respectively. Exchange programmes with schools in Germany and Poland have provided first-

Parent Teacher Association
All parents are enrolled as members of the PTA. Executive Committee of the PTA meets from time to time to
extend a helping hand to the school to achieve its aims and objectives. It plays a key role in the
developmental activities of the school and welfare of the students.
Alumni Association
The Alumni Association represents a bonding, not only among members, but also between members and
the school, its administration, teachers and students. Consequently, in addition to providing reunion
opportunities to its members, the Alumni Association also attempts to establish a fabric of networking
among all former students of Bal Bharati Public School. Thus, all can benefit from the huge reservoir of
expertise, knowledge, talent, power and position represented by the alumni members, belonging to diverse
occupations. A special Alumni App has also been created for seamless communication with all the
members of the alumni.

The school provides awards to meritorious students in academics as well as for outstanding performances in

ADMISSIONS
Pre School
Admission is open to Pre-School (Montessori-I) for children
born between 01.04.2018 & 31.03.2019(age of the child
should be from 3 to 4 years as on 31. 03. 2022).

Parents can register online at school website
bbpsgr.balbharati.org. Last date of online registration and
depositing the printout of the generated Application Form
is 07.01.2022in the drop box, placed near the gate at Bal
Bharati Public School, Pusa Road Campus.
Application forms will be screened as per the given criteria and the list of provisionally selected candidates
along with a waitlist will be put up on the School Notice Board on 04.02.2022at 2.00 pm.
EWS and Disadvantaged Group Admissions
25% of the seats i.e. 92 seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Section& Disadvantaged Group. For
admission to EWS and Disadvantaged Categories, rules framed by DoE are followed and admissions under
this category are given as per Lists/ Names received from DoE.
Schedule for verification of documents will be put up on the Notice Board and School website.
Documents to be attached with the Application Form to be filled in by the provisionally selected
candidates after the verification of original documents.
(i) Photocopy of Municipal Birth Certificate of the child (MCD only).
(ii) Photocopy of proof of residence e.g. Ration Card/ Smart Card issued in the name of parents
(Mother/Father having name of the child), Domicile Certificate of child or of his / her parents, Voter I-Card
(EPIC) of any of the parents), Electricity bill/ MTNL telephone bill/ Water bill/ Passport in the name of any of
the parents or the child. Aadhaar card/UID card issued in the name of any of the parents.
(iii) Recent passport size coloured photograph of the child to be affixed on the form.
(iv) Proof of Old Student of BBPS i.e. Passed XII board from the school (BBPS GR)
(v) Alumni Registration ID of the parent.
(vi) Proof of sibling (real brother / sister only) studying in the school i.e. photocopy of the latest fee receipt
and Report Card of the elder child studying in BBPS, GRH Marg/ Pusa Road Campus.
(vii) An affidavit regarding First Born Child should also be submitted, if points are claimed for it.

Fee for the current year (2021-22) can be viewed under admission tab. Fee Structure for 2022– 23 is yet to be
