Part dec.Jan

The Partridge
Dec 2019/Jan 2020 Edition

A Letter from our President

Dear Members,

I just realized as I said to someone near me, “where did the year go, can you believe it’s
already December?”, that I’ve officially become one of those ‘old people’ I used to al-
ways hear say that. I guess I should have seen it coming this summer as my hybrids were
getting more and more action into 4 green… after good drives! Funny how that hap-
pens…
While another year has passed, this one has not been like most others. This year will be
noted as the one in which our club began a new trajectory. The year that we stopped
the downward trend and began returning HCCC to a level of prominence in our commu-
nity. In just a few months we will unveil a remodeled clubhouse, complete with a newly
constructed bar complex overlooking our beautiful 18th green. Our club will have offer-
ings and facilities on par with the best clubs around. Bundled with the oversight of Troon
management and new leadership at the GM level, our members will enjoy service like
not seen in years.
In other news, we are officially in the process of searching for, and interviewing candi-
dates for the GM position. Troon has been a valuable resource in helping develop the
criteria for this position and vet out candidates. Our desire is to have a person chosen
and hired no later than mid-January. This is perhaps the most important role in our club
as we continue to strive for service excellence and top quality member experience. We
have been very clear with Troon that we are taking our club to a new level in terms of ser-
vice and staff leadership. Great care is being taken during the process to find the appro-
priate candidate.
The other topic now being talked about is the re-opening schedule and what that will
look like. As of now we fully expect all construction to be finished in May of 2020. The
grand “re-opening” should be one of the most exciting times in club history. The board
and I are beginning to examine how to best showcase our club and create the most
interest. Ideas being considered include open houses for prospective members, event(s)
for personnel in the real estate and relocation business. We intend to coordinate with the
mayor and city of Prospect to help garner attention. Perhaps some local media cover-
age as well. We intend to grow membership and are looking at any and all ways to do
so. We feel very confident that when people find out what our club has to offer the inter-
est will be higher than we have seen in years. Please continue to spread the word about
HCCC!
Lastly, even though the clubhouse is closed for the renovation, the pro-shop will continue
to operate for your holiday shopping needs. Please be on the lookout for communica-
tion from John and staff regarding hours of operation and sales info. He and his team will
be working out of the snack bar on weekends during December to showcase merchan-
dise. This is great time to spend book credit before it expires.
In closing I would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a very Happy
New Year. I look forward to seeing you around the club soon.

Sincerely,

Tom Sanders

up in the snack bar. We have brand new product that will be on display for Christ-
mas! We have NEW selections from Jamie Sadock, Columbia, and Nike. We will
have great sales opportunities like BOGO Half Off as well as Titleist Pro V1 golf balls
for $40 per dozen (in stock only). Free imprint on all golf balls for Christmas if orders

this year must be redeemed by the end of the year. No store credit will be carried
over to 2020.
Homeowned Golf Carts – All members that have their own golf cart, PLEASE en-
ter and exit the golf course in the proper areas. We have had some complaints
about carts entering and exiting the course either through yards or across com-
mon areas that are not Hunting Creek property.

Holiday time at the Country Club is always exciting and the air is filled with joy and cheer. In
the Golf Shop we are adding to that holiday cheer by having our Winter Sale each week-
end between now and Christmas! The new Golf Shop isn't quite ready to go, so the sale will
be held in the pool snack bar.

December 7th & 8th
December 14th & 15th
December 21st & 22nd

Everything in the shop has been discounted 20% from retail for Member Pricing, but during
this sale there will be additional savings which can add up to as much as 30%-35% OFF!
Don’t forget that all store credit must be used by the end of the year (no credit will be rolled
into 2020) and using that credit in the Golf Shop certainly helps with bills around the holi-
days!

TROON’S HONOURS GOLF SELECTED TO MANAGE THE JACK WARNER INN – A 54-ROOM
BOUTIQUE HOTEL LOCATED WITHIN THE NORTHRIVER YACHT CLUB COMMUNITY

Tuscaloosa, Ala. (November 12, 2019) – Honours Golf®, a division of Troon®, the leader in
club and hospitality management, development, and marketing, has been selected to
manage The Jack Warner Inn in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Jack Warner Inn, formerly the Yellowhammer Inn, includes 54 rooms ranging from
single rooms to executive and honeymoon suites. The Inn is home to the Apothecary
Lounge, a paneled room that served as an authentic Apothecary built in the 1850’s in
Galena, Illinois. The room was purchased at auction in Galena, the hometown of former
President U.S. Grant, who was known to be a frequent customer. Beyond the Apothe-
cary, the Inn’s spacious 2,000 sq. ft. deck overlooks a peaceful, private wooded area
and is favored by guests year-round. The Inn is located on the grounds of NorthRiver
Yacht Club in the NorthRiver community and is adjacent to the Yacht Club building,
NorthRiver’s most sought-after venue for wedding, corporate retreats and other special
events.

“The working partnership with BMV Partners, owners of The Inn, and Honours Golf will be
an asset to both NorthRiver Yacht Club and our hotel guests,” said Richard Vogt, BMV
partner. “Having The Jack Warner Inn, which is expected to have a name change by
the end of the year, managed by Honours Golf, will allow the Inn and Club to operate
with a consistent synergism that even with our close proximity and relationship, could not
happen prior to this agreement.”

The Inn is expected to undergo an extensive renovation in early 2020 that will include up-
grades to guest rooms, main lobby and exterior. Parents visiting students at the University
of Alabama can enjoy the hotel’s convenient location just 10 miles from campus.

“Honours Golf’s portfolio is immensely strengthened with the addition of The Jack Warner
Inn,” said Matt Hurley, president, Honours Golf. “I believe the Inn will reap great rewards
through Honours Golf’s best practices delivered by our industry professionals at NorthRiver
Yacht Club as well as from our team and brand leaders from across the world.”
