Golf Pro Update

As I write this, we are settling into a much more desirable weather pattern with each coming day will be
nicer than the last. Spring has sprung, green grass is beginning to invade our previously dormant fairways
and we are seeing increasingly more of you on the golf course! We couldn’t be more excited about what
2021 will hold for us all.

Simulators:
For those who have visited the clubhouse in recent weeks, you have no doubt either taken a peak at our
new simulator room or have had the opportunity to take advantage of this awesome amenity. We are
thrilled with the way it turned out and look forward to everyone having the simulator experience. As you
can imagine the simulators stay busy. When you’re ready, log on to the app or club website and book
your time. Just like tee times, the simulator time reservations open 1 week in advance at 7:00am!

Tee Times:
Speaking of tee times, the tee sheet is routinely becoming more and more populated. After my first
month was riddled with snow and ice, it is so nice to see the membership taking advantage of some
much better weather. As always, you may book up to 1-week in advance. Like the simulator, that tee
sheet will open-up at 7am for your convenience. We ask that you begin booking your tee times as far in
advance as possible during that 7-day window so that you can increase your chances of getting the tee
time you want.

Holds:
In looking at an upcoming tee sheet, of the 117 players spots taken and more than 45% of those player
spots reserved with “holds”. While the hold, is a convenient tool for our players to use as they build
groups, it doesn’t allow our team to service you as well as we could if we knew all the players we were
expecting. At your earliest convenience, please update your tee times with the correct player names or
feel free to email or call the professional shop and we will be glad to update the time for you. Please
know for any holds that remain, our team will begin reaching out to you 48 hours in advance of your tee
time to see who will be joining. We appreciate your help with this as we look to provide the best
experience possible.

Fitting Events:
We are so excited about our upcoming slate of fitting events. Throughout the season we have multiple
fitting dates from Callaway, Taylor Made and Titleist scheduled. The response to our fitting email has
been overwhelmingly positive with many of you booking your fitting appointments already. If you are
interested in getting registered for your individual appointment please do so quickly before space runs
out. We will also have a robust compliment of fitting tools in the golf shop that our team will use to
provide a wonderful fitting experience if the dates and times listed don’t work for you.

Welcome Back to Golf:
Welcome Back to Golf, is our first club event is only days away! Sign-up is available on-line or by calling
the golf shop. For a link to our “how to sign-up online” video please click here. It is fun to make-your-own
foursome, scramble. Teams can be made up of any four primary members and is a great way to ease
back into the golfing season. We look forward to seeing many of you at that event!

As always, we look forward to seeing each of you at the club. Happy Golfing!!

Prepare Like a Pro

Brandon Tereshko

Let’s talk about The Grip. No, not the 10 knuckled, fleshy one, the multi-colored rubber
one that you have probably been neglecting! Did you know that the grip is one of the
most important and overlooked parts of your golf game? It is your body’s lone point of

contact with the golf club and yet it’s the last thing we think of when
our game begins to suffer.

I’m sure you’ve heard it time and time again that we want light grip pressure. Hold it as
though your holding an egg or a baby bird. Yet, we let our grips get so worn and slick
that we are forced to squeeze the handle so tightly our knuckles go white.
The PGA recommends that you replace your grips every 30-40 rounds in order to
ensure that your grips are working effectively. Each time we use a club dirt and sweat
from our hands gets in the grip causing it to become oily and slick. If you are unsure of
whether your grips should be replaced bring them by and allow one of our golf
professionals to take a look at them.
Another important aspect of the grip is making sure that you have the proper size grip
for you. Most players focus their attention on finding the proper shaft flex or the proper
head shape for their game, but the proper grip is equally as important. Everyone’s
hands come in different shapes and sizes so, as you can imagine, grips are not one-size
fits all. It is important that your grip fits both your hands and your game. If your grip is
too small it will lead to your hands being overactive, if your grip it too large, you will not
be able to properly release the club through impact. Proper grip size will help you
control the face of the golf club better during the swing, leading
to more consistent golf shots.
When it comes to materials and the feel of a grip there is no right or wrong grip for
you, it all comes down to preference. I prefer a cord material that has a very firm feel to
it since my hands sweat a lot during a round of golf, you might prefer a velvet material
that has a much softer feel. For those of you that struggle with grip strength an
arthritic grip might be the perfect fit for you. Grips come in a variety of different
options so make sure that you are playing with a grip that is going to maximize your
chance of shooting lower scores.
Now that the weather has improved and your golf dreams are as high as they have
ever been don’t let bad grips spoil your fun. Don’t know which grip is right for you? No
problem! Just stop by the Golf Shop and allow one of our golf professionals to walk you
through the whole process of selecting the proper grip. Set yourself up for success with
properly tacky, properly sized, proper feeling grips. While we can’t guarantee lower
scores, we can guarantee that your hands are in good hands with us!

Happy Spring Hunting Creek!
