Thank you for your continued support,

Lisa Harris, Membership Director

It is so exciting to see how active and engaged this membership is! In talking to countless
members who have been around for 20+ years, each one commented that they have
never seen the club so busy. As you can see, our tee sheets stay busy, the simulators
remain full, and our events are sold out. However, none of those compare to the traffic
that our practice facility and driving range sees on a daily basis.

To the delight of the majority of our “practicers”, we have opened the grass hitting area as
of April 17th. We must be proactive about our approach and strategies to preserve and
conserve the limited amount of turf we have as we progress through the busiest season
yet! Each week we will be on the mats 2 days and off 4 days. A full schedule for the days
on mats and on grass can be found website under the golf tab. To provide a brief
overview of the plan, the two days each week will be consecutive, and the order will

remain consistent. The first week we were on the mats Tuesday and Wednesday, the 2nd
week we were on mats Wednesday and Thursday, the third week we were on the mats
Thursday and Friday and the trend continues from now until November 1st when we will
return to mats full time. For a daily reminder, we will post mats or grass on the homepage
of the Hunting Creek Website. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we

work to provide a range that will be healthy for the duration of the season.

If you have played in the last few weeks, you’ve likely noticed that the range itself is set-up
a bit different. Most notably The Rope! The addition of the rope serves to not only preserve

the hitting area but to protect your fellow range player. The idea being, that all balls hit
would be done between the front point on the range divider and the rope. Thus,

conserving the square-footage of hitting area for future days and keeping our hitters from
wandering too far forward or backward at which point a mishit shot could become
dangerous to others.

Over the course of the season, we have additional enhancements planned that will
continue to elevate your practice and range experience. We look forward to unveiling
those to you over the next several months. Thanks to each of you for your support of the

golf experience and our team as we begin the busiest and best season
at Hunting Creek yet!

Finally, our winter nightmare is over! No more being in the doldrums, for the fog has lifted and once again you have
a purpose and meaning to your life; Spring Tennis is here at the Creek! This week starts the spring program. It is a
soft opening and as each day goes by, we will improve our facilities until it is the complete tennis experience you
expect. We are hopeful to be 100% mid-May. Yet the clay is down, and the nets are up so let’s play.
Tuesdays:
• Quickstart Tennis from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Introduction to tennis with an emphasis on fun for ages 4 to 7 years
old.
• Ladies Fast Feed from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The top women members come out to practice on the clay before A
Team matches begins.
Wednesdays:
• Advance beginners from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This is the next step after Quickstart and is for ages 8 to 12.We work
on stroke production and rallying skills.
• Adult Beginners from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. This is an introduction to tennis to those who have never played or have
not played recently or regularly. If you are worried about your skill level; fear not, I coach all levels and certainly have
seen worse! No racquet? No problem, just borrow one of mine.
Thursdays:
• Junior Intermediate from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This clinic is for our more experienced juniors and where we work
with spins and tennis strategies.
• Adult Intermediate from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Is for our more experienced adults looking to work on the finer
points of tennis. Beware this is a loud and entertaining group.
Saturdays:
• Mixed Fast Feed from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A competitive clinic to determine who is playing the best tennis at
Hunting Creek.
It is that time of year again!! Any lady interested in playing tennis matches over the summer should join the
Interclub Team! It is very fun and a great way to meet other members, as well as see all the other clubs! The women
play 3 levels of tennis. This year we will have an A league for 3.5 level players and above, a B league for 3.0-3.5 rated
players, and a C league for beginner players up to 3.0. Anne Woods provides strong leadership for the A team and
ensures a smooth-running team playing on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm. The matches are on Wednesday nights
at 6:15 through the Summer beginning May 12, 2021. We play a two-set match, then have appetizers and cocktails
afterward (a lot of us play just for the social time afterward!). Please email Lauren Mattingly at
[email protected] if you are interested. If you could also put your phone number and your rating (if you
have one) in the email, that would be fantastic.

Wait this is not all, there is even more tennis to be played. The men play two levels of tennis with B team and a C
team. The B Team fearless leader is Rick Woods. 4.0 and below play 4 courts of doubles on Thursday Nights They
were a few points shy of making it to the finals last year. Are you the one player they need to put them over the
hump? I think so! The all-new C team is being captained by Kevin Berry. This 3.0 - 2.5 team is still in the planning
stages with details to come.

I am looking forward to another fun season!! Please, do not hesitate to email or text with any questions that you
may have.

Will see you on the courts!
