Dear Members,
As you read this message the construction phase of our clubhouse reno-
vation has begun and is moving forward in earnest. The golf pro-shop
has been relocated to its temporary home, club operations have been
adjusted per plan, and people seem to be enjoying themselves in spite of
the inconveniences that come with such a project. Our on-line auction
of unwanted furnishings also proved to be a success raising over $8,000
which will go directly into our capital fund account.
During the first weekend of August we held our Member-Member golf
tournament. Despite the limited accommodations it was a huge success.
Greg Franklin, John Gilchrist, and their respective teams did a wonderful
job seeing that all went smoothly. Members enjoyed themselves and took
the abbreviated offerings in stride. I would like to thank all involved, both
club staff and members alike. The attitude displayed was overwhelm-
ingly positive. We will continue to do all we can to make this construction
phase as palatable as possible. As progress unfolds we will send out rou-
tine communication with updates.
On another note, members continue to ask about making additional fi-
nancial contributions. Many have indicated an interest in forgiving bonds
and certificates, while others have asked about contributing more to the
capital fund. Both of these offerings will go a long way to benefitting the
financial health of our club. In the coming weeks we will be communicat-
ing a plan for allowing those wishing to contribute or forgive bonds the
opportunity to do so.
Finally, I want to reiterate the most important component of our vision
for HCCC a robust membership. The key to our success continues to be
growing the number of members. By next spring we will have a club that
is second to none, but our membership has to grow in order for us to be
successful. With the help of Troon our membership committee is working
diligently to attract new members. Please consider helping in this matter
by talking about our club within your network. Don’t be shy about sharing
all the exciting changes taking place. If you need help, or have sugges-
tions about bringing in new members please contact the club or a board
member.
I thank you as always for your support and look forward to seeing you
around the club soon.
Sincerely,
Tom Sanders

HCCC Membership Update
HCCC’s membership has experienced some transition over the last few months and we
are pleased to report our membership is growing in the full and junior golf categories
as well as tennis, social and senior social categories. We are excited about the recent
growth and want to keep encouraging new member candidates to experience HCCC
while we are offering the Discovery Membership Program during this exciting time.
While the HCCC clubhouse renovation construction is a primary focus, HCCC mem-
bership is always top of mind. We need members in all categories to continue to
enjoy the club now and in the future for years to come. During the clubhouse trans-
formation, the committee has established the HCCC Discovery Membership Program
to encourage new member candidates to give the Club a try and get it know our
members, amenities and all the offerings we have, even during clubhouse closure.
What is the Discovery Membership Program? This promotion allows new members to
join their desired category, begin using the Club while only paying member fees and
monthly dues and wait until up to April 2020 to pay the initiation fee as currently priced.
Membership initiation fees are expected to be re-evaluated upon completion
of the clubhouse renovation, so the current rates are subject to change. Please
encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to come check us out during this
Discovery Membership Promotion. If you have questions or want to refer a poten-
tial member, please contact a board member, membership committee member,
or Lisa Harris at 321-514-1100. New membership folders, including the member-
ship categories document, Discovery Membership information, the Amenities
document, and HCCC application are available to be sent out at your request.
Thank you for your membership,
Yvonne Adkins

It was a perfect summer day August 10th. Not to hot but warm enough to
know it was summer. At 2:00 sharp 16 of our finest members showed to com-
pete for the honor and glory of the Wax Racquet. After three hours of tennis
only four remained standing. Once the clay had cleared two rose above it all
to take the Wax Racquet. In a final set Tim Fogarty and Scott Potter had van-
quished their foes of Ron Pedereson and Rodrigo Moreno. Be sure to congrat-
ulate them as for the rest of us there is next year.
It has to go down as the fastest summer on record it is time to move to the
Junior Fall Schedule. I would like to thank all the juniors who ate pizza, Reese
Smock and Tyler Jurgensen for winning the JIC doubles, Sam Jurgensen for
getting to the green ball finals and all the juniors who came out to clinics and
made my job fun. Alas it is not over. We have plenty of daylight and warm
weather to keep us on the courts for months to come. Adult Clinics remain
the same. Juniors are as follows.
Quickstart (ages 4-7) Tuesdays 4:30-5:30
Advance Beginners (8-12) Wednesdays 4:30-5:30
Junior Intermediate (10-16) Thursdays 4:30-5:30
Fall is the perfect time to play with less humidity and heat. There is no better
time to come to a clinic or get a private lesson.
See you on the courts,
Steve Filben Head Tennis Professional
HCCC Pickleball
is serving up fun!
We’ve had some great interest in pickleball over the last couple of months.
We have held several clinics and expanded our games, and we are looking
for individuals and couples interested in playing on evenings and weekends.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and we are lucky to
have a court available for the fun! Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton
and ping-pong played on a badminton-sized court with a modified net, so there
is not as much running as tennis. Participants play with paddles that are twice as
big as ping pong paddles, and the game is played with perforated plastic balls,
similar to a wiffle ball with holes. While scoring can be a challenge, picklball can
be played with doubles or singles and is usually played to 11 points each game.
The best thing about HCCC pickleball is that it is fun! These are friendly
games and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We rotate players in and
out depending on the number of members playing, and we have a lot of
fun doing it. Please contact Yvonne Adkins at 330-800-6363 or yvonne@
adkinsandcompany.com to learn more or to schedule a time to play.
