8.2 : DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL STUDIES (JPA)
General Studies Department (JPA) is divided into two units which are English Language Unit and Islamic Studies Unit.
This department offers courses to all technical and commercial departments. English Language Unit offers courses such
as Communicative English I, II, III and Islamic Studies Unit offers courses such as Islamic Studies for muslim student,
Civilisation and Moral Education for both muslim and non muslim students.
8.3 : STUDENT AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT (JHEP)
The Students’ Affair Department plays a very important role in the administrative and managing the activities of students’
affairs in Port Dickson Polytechnic. The department consists of three units namely; Intake & Data Unit, Welfare and
Discipline Unit. Starting August 2009, the Graduates and Alumni Unit was introduced under the department. The role of
this department includes the intake and registration of students for every semester, data storage, students’ record and the
discipline of students. Apart from that, the department is also assisting the students to manage their loan and scholarship
application. It also functions to control and help to organize and monitor the students’ activities in Politeknik Port Dickson .
8.4 : LIAISON AND INDUSTRIAL TRAINING UNIT
The main task of the Liaison and Industrial Training Unit is to administer students’ industrial training program and connect
with firms and departments on students’ practical training. The objective of this unit is to organize and manage training
placement application, recognize suitable placement, training supervise and industrial training assessment. As one of the
requirements in the polytechnic system, students have to enroll industrial attachment. Duration of the training is 20 weeks
where students are sent to all firms and departments all over the country. Politeknik Port Dickson will ensure the students
get appropriate training placement which is beneficial to them.

Port Dickson Polytechnic provides accommodation and related facilities for students who study here. It can accommodate
2580 which is 1082 places for male students (11 blocks) and 1500 places for female students (5 blocks and Private
Investment Hostel- PFI).
8.7: TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION UNIT (ULPL)
The Training and Continuing Education Unit (ULPL) was established in 1994. The task of ULPL are to plan, manage and
run staff training programs internally and externally. ULPL also assist in coordinating, planning and implementing
programs organized by headquarters. Besides that, ULPL coordinate the TSP Program (Time Sector Privatization) for the
public or private sector, coordinating Lecturer Industry Advisory Program (SIP) and also responsible for planning ,
organizing and implementing various staff training development programs to identify and enhance staff competency.

Unit for Instructional Development and Multimedia (UIDM) functions as a supporting unit in providing teaching and
learning aids. Besides that, UIDM also provides audio, video, photo and graphics facilities for the Port Dickson
Polytechnic
staff to enable them to conduct curricular activities as well as other official programmes in or outside the campus.
8.9: QUALITY MANAGEMENT UNIT
The Quality Management Unit aims at meeting the vision and mission of the establishment of polytechnics and national
requirements based on MS ISO Standard 9001: 2015. Port Dickson Polytechnic is awarded with MS ISO Standard 9001:
2015 in 2017 and awarded with a gold award in Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) in
January 2017 . This unit is also to ensure the continuous quality of the mangement systems in Politeknik port Dickson.
8.10: LIBRARY UNIT
The main focus of the Politeknik Port Dickson library is to act as a platform of knowledge for the students. It provides
access to information resources in support of teaching, research and extension work. It also offers ISBN and ISSN
services for new book as well as inter library borrowings. Literacy classes for new students are also regularly conducted to
enhance their research skills such as data collection and information analysis. The library also provide ASTRO and
printing services as well as multimedia facilities.,
8.11: PSYCHOLOGY MANAGEMENT UNIT
The Psychology and Career unit provides facilities where students are encouraged to maximise their potentials. The unit
also aims to nurture good mental health among the students of PPD. Student are encouraged to refer to officers in
charge regarding personal and career development .
8.12 SPORT & CO-CURRICULUM & CULTURE UNIT
The main function of The Sports, Co-curriculum & Culture Unit is coordinating and conducting all academic activities (co-
curriculum) for semester 1 to 5 semester consisting of uniform bodies (DRB), Sports (DRS) and Club Association (DRK)
and nonacademic activities (sports & culture) for all students in every semester. These activities are an essential element

in molding a skilled and active human capital into becoming a good and healthy persons as well shaping their
personalities during and after finishing their studies.
8.13 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT
The Information Technology Unit (ICT) is responsible for all the ICT services in Politeknik Port Dickson. The unit is in
charge of maintaining and handling all computers in Port Dickson Polytechnic in terms of the technical and configuration
aspects. Each laboratory is equipped with networking services. Log in and saving data facilities are prepared in Student
Data Storage. The unit also helps in registration, course registration, assessment and examination result.
8.14: COPORATE INDUSTRIAL SERVICES & EMPLOYBILITY UNIT
CISEC Unit was established in July 2010 to support a transformation agenda that increases the employment rates among
graduates of polytechnics. Therefore, CISEC will mediate the polytechnics and the industry and also will coordinate
professional development and graduate programme.
8.15: RESEARCH, INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP UNIT
Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit, Port Dickson Polytechnic was established in line with the thrust of the
Third Strategic Plan Department of polytechnic, which implement policies and develop research, innovation and
entrepreneurship. The activities to inculcate the culture of innovation among staff and students, conducting research, the
establishment club entrepreneurs and cultivating research and published scientific literature is among the responsibilities
that must be performed by this unit.
